Eucalyptus oils are widely used as spices, perfume industrial materials, food flavorings, and medicines. Several types of Eucalyptus oils also have insecticidal activity and as carminative. This study investigated the chemical composition, insecticidal (larvicidal and repellent) activity of E. urophylla oil against filarial mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus. E. urophylla oil was obtained from fresh leaves by water-steam distillation with oil yield 1.08%. E. urophylla oil in this study had no color (clear), has odor (typical eucalyptus), with specific gravity 0.941; refractive index 1.465; miscibility in 70% ethanol 1 : 3; and optical rotation (-) $5.83^{\circ}$. The major compounds of the oil were ${\alpha}$-pinene (11.73%), 1,8-cineole (49.86%), ${\beta}$-ocimene (6.25%), ${\gamma}$-terpinene (9.11%), and ${\alpha}$-terpinyl acetate (7.63%). The result showed the excellent insecticide activity against C. quinquefasciatus. The oil provided larvicidal activity with $LC_{50}$: 80.21 ppm and $LC_{90}$: 210.18 ppm, and repellent activity with $IC_{50}$: 0.82% and $IC_{90}$: 4.88%. The present study showed the effectiveness of E. urophylla as natural insecticide against C. quinquefasciatus, the mosquito vector of filariasis.
In the present study, an attempt was made to Investigate the effect of stearic acid on the autoxidation of the commercial rice bran oil, Rice bran oil samples with stearic acid at 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5oh level were kept at 45$\pm$0.3$^{\circ}C$ for 40 days. The rate of autoxidation of each samples was estimated regularly on the basis of the changes of peroxide value, acid value, anisidine value and the fatty acid composition. The results were as follows : The peroxide, acid and anisidine values of the rice bran oil with the stearic acid at 0.1, 0.3 and 0.591 levels during the autoxidation Increased as compared with that of the rice bran oil without the stearic acid. The induction period of the rice bran oil without the stearic acid, control was 19.0days, while those of the bran oil with stearic acid at 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5% levels varied 19.0 days, 17.7days and 14.2 days, respectively. In conclusion, it seemed that stearic acid acted as weak prooxidant when added at 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5% levels to the commercial rice bran oil. The prooxidant activity of the stearic acid appeared to depend on the oxidative mechanism and their concentration.

Recently, the internal combustion engines have focused on reducing the $CO_2$ gas in order to cope with severe regulations for fuel economy. Therefore, various new technologies have been developed. Among them, cooling system is spotlighted because it has great effect on fuel economy. In this study, we measured the friction losses of engine parts according to engine speed and oil temperature. We also obtained optimized oil temperature which has the minimum friction losses. Then, we selected optimized oil temperature range and gave informations of friction losses for each engine parts. In addition, we analyzed relationship between coolant temperature and oil temperature by using engine performance test system. From this experiment, we obtained the database for relationship between coolant temperature and oil temperature. Then, we found the optimal temperature about engine oil. We analyzed BSFC and exhaust emissions by controlling the high coolant temperture. If we controlled coolant temperature more higher, BSFC has a little difference but exhaust emissions such as THC and CO have reduced. By using these experimental results, we predicted that IC engine have more low fuel consumption and exhaust emissions by optimized cooling control strategy.
Chrysanthemum indicum is widely used to treat immune-related and infectious disorders in East Asia. C. indicum flower oil contains 1,8-cineole, germacrene D, camphor, ${\alpha}$-cadinol, camphene, pinocarvone, ${\beta}$-caryophyllene, 3-cyclohexen- 1-ol, and ${\gamma}$-curcumene. We evaluated the safety of C. indicum flower oil by conducting acute oral toxicity, bone marrow micronucleus, and bacterial reverse mutation tests. Mortality, clinical signs and gross findings of mice were measured for 15 days after the oral single gavage administration of C. indicum flower oil. There were no mortality and clinical signs of toxicity at 2,000 mg/kg body weight/day of C. indicum flower oil throughout the 15 day period. Micronucleated erythrocyte cell counts for all treated groups were not significantly different between test and control groups. Levels of 15.63~500 ${\mu}g$ C. indicum flower oil/plate did not induce mutagenicity in S. Typhimurium and E. coli, with or without the introduction of a metabolic activation system. These results indicate that ingesting C. indicum flower oil produces no acute oral toxicity, bone marrow micronucleus, and bacterial reverse mutation.

For the satisfying performance of a oil lubricator, design of a oil controller for the system which meets the required specifications and its supporting hardware that keep their functioning is important. Among the hardware of a control system, oil system are most vulnerable to malfunction. Thus it is necessary to keep track of accurate and reliable oil readings for good fusion oil lubricator performance. In case of oil lubricator, data loss, ssr trigger error faults, they are detected by examining the data system output values and the major values of the system, and then the faults are recognized by the analysis of symptoms of faults. If necessary electronic-sensor values are synthesized according to the types of faults, and then they are used for the controller instead of the raw data. In this paper, a fast-32bit cpu microprocessor applied to the control of flexible link system with the sensor fault problems in the error modulo for exact positioning to show the applicability. It is shown that the fusion oil lubricator can provide a satisfactory loop performance even when the sensor faults occure.
This study designed to compare the hypolipidemic e(feats of n6 linoleic acid (LA), n3 w-linolenic acid(LL) and n3 eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid(DHA) In rats fed high fat (40% Cal) diet. Male Sprague-Dawley rats fed experimental diets for 6 weeks, which were different only in fatty acid composition. The dietary fats were beef tallow (BT) as a source of saturated fatty acid (SFA), corn oil(CO) for n6 LA, perilla oil (PO) for n3 a-LL and fish oil (FO) for n3 EPA+DHA. Plasma total cholesterol (T-chol) level was increased by n6 LA but decreased by n3 LL and n3 EPA+DHA and most effectively reduced by n3 EPA+DHA. Plasma triglyceride(TG ) level was reduced by n6 LA, but lipogenesis in liver was not affected by n6 LA. However, plasma TG level was lowered by n3 LL and EPA+DHA. Both lipogenic enzyme activity and liver TG level were also decreased by n3 PUFA. PO and FO groups were significantly higher in the relative Proportions of C20:5 and C22:6 of plasma and liver and lower in those of C20:4/C20:5 ratio. Overall, the lipid-lowering effect was in the order of n3 EPA+DHA >n3 LL > n6 LA and fish oil and perilla oil rich in n3 PUFA may have important nutritional applications in the prevention and treatment of hyperlipidemia.

An experimental study was conducted to analyze the thermal stability and to estimate the lifetime of refrigerating lubricants. PAG and POE oil are considered as a test fluids in this study. The viscosity of PAG and POE oil was measured by the vibration type viscometer while temperature is varied periodically in the range of $0^{\circ}C{\sim}100^{\circ}C$. The results indicate that the reduction rates of viscosity of PAG and POE oil were less than 5% after 510 cycles. In order to estimate lifetime of PAG and POE oil with temperature, the viscosity was measured while the temperature of oils was maintained at 180, 200 and $220^{\circ}C$. It is found that the lifetimes of PAG oil were shown to be 244, 177 and 89 hours at the temperature of 180, 200 and $220^{\circ}C$, respectively. Also the lifetimes of POE oil were estimated to be 1,744, 1,007 and 334 hours at the temperature of 180, 200 and $220^{\circ}C$, respectively. The lifetime correlations of PAG and POE oil are suggested in this paper.
A numerical study has been carried out to investigate the heat and mass transfer of an oil pumping system with a variable shape of the housing using the CFD method. Especially, the electric motor and the pump combined together, accomplishes a research about the oil supplying system. In this study, the temperature and velocity distribution of the oil pumping system by varying the flow rate of supplying oil have been investigated. The temperature changes with each five conditions(flow rate of supply oil : 2, 4, 8, 12, and 16 liter/min) have also been studied. The numerical results show that the exhaust temperature decreases as the flow rate of the supplying oil increases. It also reveals that the temperatures change differently with the housing shape.

Two kinds of Angelica belong to Umbelliferae collected, the one is Angelica gigas that is inhabitant in Korea and the other is Angelica acutiloba that is indigenous in Japan at the field of Snyder Research and Extension Farm Rutgers University, New Jersey and was analyszed by GC and GC/MS. The composition of the essential oil of the different aerial parts of the Angelica has been studied. The oil yields obtained upon hydrodistillation were 0.18% (v/w) in Korean Angelica and 0.44% (v/w) in Japanese Angelica on dry root weight basis. By the growing stage in the Rutgers greenhouse condition, leaf and root of essential oil content a little decreased on 9 months later than 4 months later except for Angelica gigas leaf. Both of Angelica showed that amounts of essential oil content presented in order of leaf > petiole > root according to different plant part. The analysis of the essential oil from Angelica root led to the identification of 14 constituents totaling 64% in Korean Angelica and 13 constituents totaling 68% in Japanese Angelica. The major constituents of the Angelica root essential oil were ligustilide (47 %) and gamma terpi (14 %) in Korean Angelica, and alpha pinei (32 %) and nonane (25 %) in Japanese Angelica
Oil-based nanofluids were prepared by dispersing nonconducting fibrous $Al_2O_3$ and spherical AlN nanoparticles in transformer oil. In this study, the effects of wet grinding and surface modification of particles on thermal and electrical properties of nanofluids were investigated. Grinding experiments were conducted with high-speed bead mill and ultrasonic homogenizer and nanoparticles were surface modified by oleic acid and polyoxyethylene alkyl acid ester(PAAE) in n-hexane or transformer oil, at the same time. It is obvious that the combination of nanoparticle, dispersant and dispersion solvent is very important for the dispersity of nanofluids. For nanofluids containing 1.0vol.% AlN particles in transformer oil, the enhancement of thermal conductivity was 11.6% compared with pure transformer oil. However, the electric-insulating property of AlN nanofluids was very low due to used dispersant itself. Therefore, the effect of the dispersant on thermal/electrical/physical properties of the transformer oil should be considered before selecting a proper dispersant.
