Purpose - This study empirically investigates the effects of Official Development Assistance (ODA) on the economic activities of private actors in recipient countries. As a proxy for the economic activities of private actors, we utilize the job creation activities of foreign subsidiaries in recipient countries. The foreign subsidiaries provide a foundation for economic development by creating paying jobs. That is, if ODA has been successfully transferred to foreign subsidiaries, then these foreign subsidiaries should help economic growth and help create a boom in the local market by providing jobs. These jobs eventually lead to the achievement of the primary aims of foreign aid, including poverty reduction. Thus, this study empirically examines the relationship between ODA and the number of jobs created by foreign subsidiaries in recipient countries. Design/methodology - This is the first study to examine the effects of the ODA on the job creation of foreign subsidiaries because it has been hard to obtain internal information related to the employment status of foreign subsidiaries. Fortunately, we have a unique panel dataset provided by the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) for 2006 to 2013. In terms of the empirical specification, we use the generalized least squares (GLS) method. The panel GLS estimator allows us to have an efficient estimation that overcomes the limitations of the panel data. It employs assumptions about the heteroscedasticity between the panels and makes an autocorrelation of the error term within each panel. Findings - We find that ODA influences job creation in foreign subsidiaries. In particular, we found that ODA creates more jobs in sales than in managerial or production positions. This study also shows that the effect of the ODA on the foreign subsidiaries' job creation activities depend on the purpose of the ODA. By examining ODA effects on the foreign subsidiaries' economic activities (e.g., job creation), this study fills a gap in the current literature. Originality/value - Existing studies that focus on the ODA effect have either a macroeconomic point or a microeconomic point of view. However, both approaches do not explain how well foreign aid has influenced private economic actors of recipient countries. In essence, previous researchers found it difficult to obtain the necessary data for internal employment status from foreign subsidiaries. However, thanks to the Korea Export-Import Bank, this study shows that ODA indeed influences the job creation activities of foreign subsidiaries even after controlling for other factors such as FDI, GDP growth rate, employment rate, household expenditure, mother firms' share, etc. By doing so, we can examine how ODA influences the job creation of foreign subsidiaries, which might help economic development and reduce the amount of poverty in recipient countries.
ODA (Official Development Assistance) aims for practicing international humanitarianism in developing countries. However, ODA donors also seek to find convincing evidence meeting the national economic & political interests in the international community. In this regards, precise & unbiased estimation of the policy effects of ODA aid on the donors' exports to the recipient countries has recently become one of the primary concerns of the ODA donors, especially developing countries including Korea of which economy structure heavily relies on exports for economic growth. Based on the basic gravity model, this study empirically analyzes the effects of technical cooperation ODA delivering skills, knowledge and technical know-how on Korea's exports to the ODA recipient countries using 10-year panel data from 2007 to 2016. Specifically, by incorporating major variables affecting trade such as GDP, distance, FDI etc, the effect of technical cooperation ODA on Korea's exports to the ODA recipient countries is estimated with various kinds of panel models. As a result, technical cooperation ODA has a statistically significant impact on Korea's exports to ODA recipient countries, especially in the exports of intermediate goods. And the detail process of this black-boxed mechanism is scrutinized through case studies on Uzbekistan, The Philippines, and Morocco.

The purpose of this study is to improve effectiveness of Korea's Official Development Assistance (ODA) provided to developing countries. To do this, we analyze the efficiency of ODA provided to 38 recipient countries by Korea through data envelope analysis method. The effects of four factors including population, GDP, economic decline and poverty, and external intervention on efficiency are also investigated by utilizing tobit regression analysis. As a result of the DEA efficiency analysis, it is found that the average efficiency score of the total is about 59%. By region, the average efficiency score of Asia, Africa, Central and South America, and the East and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) are about 42%, 68%, 70%, and 74%, respectively. It indicates that the Asian countries are inefficient compared to countries of the other regions. It is also found that factors of population, GDP, economic decline and poverty, and external intervention have statistically significant effects on efficiency at 0.01 significance level. In the case of the population, the higher the population of the recipient country, the more negative (-) effect is on the efficiency. The other factors such as GDP, economic decline and poverty, and external intervention have positive effects on the efficiency.

This study analyzed investment effects for Practical Field Studies conducted by the KOPIA (Korea Program on International Agriculture) centers, which are part of the ODA project operated by the Rural Development Administration. Focusing on the productivity and effectiveness factors of each project, a questionnaire survey was sent to each KOPIA center associated with each project. The results demonstrated the production and profitability of farms participating in the pilot project were significantly improved compared to those of farms that did not participate in the project. Also, in the satisfaction results of taste, nutrition, and freshness, the participating firms could significantly improve them when being compared to those of non-participating farms. It is highly expected to contribute to improving the operational effectiveness of Practical Field Projects conducted in Africa based on the results of each project's performance and economic feasibility. This study also can lead to a change in the social perception of ODA projects by raising people's awareness of ODA projects.
Most research on Official Development Assistance (ODA) targeted the recipients, but this study examines the effect of ODA on the donor's exports to the recipient. To do this, a panel analysis was carried out with ODA and macroeconomic data on the United States and 33 other countries from 1999 to 2009. The results are summarized as follows: (1) The economic influence on the donor varies with the recipient's localization effort. (2) High-tech exports to the recipient are independent of ODA. (3) In medium-to-low-technology areas, ODA has a positive effect on exports to the recipient with low absorption efforts. (4) Both High-tech and LM-tech product exports decreases with the technological innovation efforts of recipients with high absorption efforts, while High-tech product exports only increases with that of recipients with low absorption efforts. These results indicate that a strategic approach for ODA program is more effective and useful to the donor's economy.
Vietnam's economic growth has progressed rapidly since Doi Moi. Vietnam is a key driving force for global economic growth on behalf of China. Therefore, this study analyzed the factors of Vietnam's economic growth by using time series variables after Doi Moi. Study results show that educational expenditures affect ODA in the short term. In the long run, GDP and FDI are causally related to ODA. Based on the above findings, it can be seen that FDI and ODA played a significant role in Vietnam's economic growth. This finding suggests that in order for Vietnam's economy to grow further, the capital market should be more open to foreigners so that FDI and ODA can flow more smoothly. Since the inflow of FDI is also linked to educational expenditure, it is important to understand that the workforce is being upgraded in the Vietnamese labor market.
Objective: We investigated the effects of outdoor access for 1 h per day on the animal welfare (AW) of tethered cows, in terms of lying and sleeping postures, and immune function. Methods: A total of five dry cows were tethered all day indoors (tethering) for 30 days and then tethered indoors with 1 h daily outdoor access (ODA-1h) for 30 days. To analyze the effects of ODA-1h, we calculated the total duration and bout frequency per day, and bout duration of lying and sleeping postures during the last five days of each treatment period. We also analyzed the populations of T cells, B cells, and NK cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) by fluorescence-activated cell sorting and determined the concanavalin A (Con A) -induced proliferation rate of T cells. Results: The mean total time per day of lying during the ODA-1h treatment was significantly shorter than that during the tethering treatment (p<0.001). The Con A-induced proliferation rate of T cells during the ODA-1h treatment was significantly higher than that during the tethering treatment (p = 0.007). The proportion of NK cells in PBMC during the ODA-1h treatment tended to be higher than that during the tethering treatment (p = 0.062). Conclusion: Although ODA-1h may decrease lying time, it increases the available space for tethered cows towards that typically found in grazing and free barn feeding systems. This increased available space promotes the expression of normal behaviors such as walking and social behaviors except lying and may also improve the immune function of tethered dry cows, thereby improving their overall welfare.

This study aims to find out the better management plan for city master plannning as an ODA to accomplish the economic effect. For this study, the "Hai Phong New Town Development Project" and the "Modification of Hue City's Master Plan" were studied. The result of the case study shows that there was difference between the two projects which was the status of following projects. While those two projects were highly acclaimed, only Hue project had several projects. This is because of the understanding degree on ODA project of participants, the distinct characteristics of the recipient country; Vietnamese local and central government, and the difference of each project's main purpose. And the result of FGI shows that to accomplish economic effects of master planning project as ODA, the enthusiastic approach to find out following project from the beginning step of the master planning, the experience of project manager on ODA, the close association with the recipient country, and the positive support from the Koica especially, the local office were crucial.
For analyzing the performance determinants of ODA projects in a technical and vocational education and training, this research analyzed the performance determinants of effectiveness representing the direct benefit and impact representing the long-term development effects of ODA project using FsQCA. As a result, the effectiveness of ODA project is achieved when relevance, sustainability and impact are high, or relevance, impact and efficiency are high. The impact of ODA project is achieved when relevance, sustainability and effectiveness are high, or relevance, effectiveness and efficiency are high. Two solutions for achieving effectiveness and two solutions for achieving impact show equifinality. The core factors for achieving effectiveness are relevance and impact, and the core factors for achieving impact are relevance and effectiveness. Also sustainability and efficiency are substitutability. A single causal variable can not have an effect on the ODA performance, but combined more than three causal variables can have an effect on the ODA performance. Therefore this research verified that collectives of causal variables rather than single causal variable should be considered to achieve the performance of ODA project in technical and vocational education and training.
In this paper, it was demonstrated that the organic thin film transistors with the organic gate insulators were fabricated by vapor deposition polymerization (VDP) processing. The configuration of OTFTs was a staggered-inverted top-contact structure and gate dielectric layer was deposited with 0.45 ${\mu}m$ thickness. In order to form polyimide as a gate insulator, VDP process was also introduced instead of spin-coating process. Polyimide film was respectively co-deposited with different materials. One was from a 4,4'-oxydiphthalic anhydride (ODPA) and 4, 4'-oxydianiline (ODA) and the other was from 2,2-bis(3,4-dicarboxyphenyl) hexafluoropropane dianhydride (6FDA) and ODA. And it was also cured at 150 $^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour followed by 200 $^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. Electrical characteristics of the organic thin-film transistors were detailed comparisons between the ODPA-ODA and the 6FDA-ODA which were used as gate insulator.
