Autotuning fuzzy PID controller for position control of DC servo motor

  • This paper describes an autotuning fuzzy PID controller for a position control of DC serve motor. Because ZNM(Ziegler-Nichols Method) with relay feedback has the difficulty in re-tuning the PID parameters and adaptive method has complex algorithm, a new method to overcome those problems is required. The proposed scheme determines the initial PID gains by using ZNM with relay feedback, and then re-tunes the optimal PID parameters by using fuzzy expert system whenever control conditions are changed. To show the validity of the proposed method, a position control of DC servo motor is illustrated by computer simulation and is experimented by a designed controller.

  • In this paper, Korean spoken continuous digits are ercognized using DHMM(Dynamic Hidden Markov Model) and lexical analysis to provide the base of developing voice dialing system. After segmentation by phoneme unit, it is recognized. This system can be divided into the segmentation section, the design of standard speech section, the recognition section, and the lexical analysis section. In the segmentation section, it is segmented using the ZCR, O order LPC cepstrum, and Ai, parameter of voice speech dectaction, which is changed according to time. In the standard speech design section, 19 phonemes or syllables are trained by DHMM and designed as a standard speech. In the recognition section, phomeme stream are recognized by the Viterbi algorithm.In the lexical decoder section, finally recognized continuous digits are outputed. This experiment shiwed the recognition rate of 85.1% using data spoken 7 times of 21 classes of 7 continuous digits which are combinated all of the occurence, spoken by 10 man.

  • In DS/SS systems it is necessary to synchronize the locally generated despreading signal with the received spreading signal to demodulate the received signal. The synch process between the two signals is usually accomplished in two steps : first acquisition then tracking. In this paper, an acquisition system aided by the neural network is proposed for the rapid and exact acquisition in DS/SS. the neural netowrk is composed o fthree-layered perpecptrons and trained by the backpropagation algorithm. The performance of the proposed system is analyzed and compared with ones of conventional systems using the sequential estimation technique under an additive while gaussian noisy channel. In all of th econsidered simulations, the proposed system outperforms conventional systems.

  • This paper proposes two types of the preview algorithms to predict the joint velocities and joint positions, and deals with a control approach using the preview algorithms for the precise trajectory control. Specifically, a predictor an the form of discrete time state equations is proposed based on the robot dynamics model linearized by the computed torque method. And another state predictor is proposed by the beat line fitting in the least square sense, where present joint velocities and positions and several past positions are employed. Then computer simulations are performed for the SCARA robot with two d.o.f. to show the validities of the proposed algothrithms.

  • This paper represents a new approach for the protective relay of power transmission lines using a Artificial Neural Network(ANN). A different fault on transmission lines need to be detected, classified and located accurately and cleared as fast as possible. However, The protection range of the distance relay is always designed on the basis of fixed settings, and unfortunately these approach do not have the ability to adapt dynamically to the system operating condition. ANN is suitable for the adaptive relaying and the detection of complex faults. The backpropagation algorithm based multi-layer perceptron is utilized for the learning process. It allows to make control to various protection functions. As expected, the simulation result demonstrate that this approach is useful and satisfactory.

  • This paper presents an economical generation planning for operating power systems with dispersed generation. As dispersed generation introduced into an electric power distribution system, the power system will be complicated and have much variable aspects. So there is need for developing new generation scheduling. In this paper, the proposed method is tested for distribution system with two battery storage resources. Optimal generation planning of 15 thermal units in 24-hours is achieved by improved genetic algorithm. Also, to show its effectiveness, the results are compared with those of not including battery storage resources.

  • An area of research called evolvable hardware has recently emerged which combines aspects of evolutionary computation with hardware design and synthesis. Evolvable hardware (EHW) is hardware that can change its own circuit structure by genetic learning to achieve maximum adaptation to the environment. In conventional EHW, the learning is executed by software on a computer. In this paper, we have studied and surveyed a gate-level evolvable hardware chip, by integrating both GA hardware and reconfigurable hardware within a single LSI chip. The chip consists of genetic algorithm(GA) hardware, reconfigurable hardware logic, and the control logic. In this paper, we describe the architecture, functions of the chip.

  • In this paper a self-tuning gain-scheduled skyhook control for semi-active suspension systems is investigated. The dynamic characteristics of a continuously variable damper including electro-hydraulic pressure control valves is analyzed. A 2-d.o.f. time-varying quarter-car model that permits variations in sprung mass and suspension spring coefficient is considered. The self-tuning skyhook control algorithm proposed in this paper requires only the measurement of body acceleration. The absolute velocity of the sprung mass and the relative velocity of the suspension deflection are estimated by using integral filters.   • This paper describes a grid mapping for a vision based mobile robot in uncertain indoor environment. The map building is a prerequisite for navigation of a mobile robot and the problem of feature correspondence across two images is well known to be of crucial Importance for vision-based mapping We use a stereo matching algorithm obtained by singular value decomposition of an appropriate correspondence strength matrix.   • Unlike printed character, the recognition of Hand written one has various kinds of difficulties due to the existence of the huge pattern associated with the person who writes. Therefore, in general, recognition of Hand written characters requires an algorithm which takes into consideration of the individual differences. Hangul characters are basically made of straight lines and circles. They can be represented in terms of feature parameters such as the end point of the straight line, the length and the angle. Then all Hangul characters can be represented by the number of basic segments(-, /, vertical bar, O) multiplied by the feature parameters respectively. In this study we propose a method for recognizing Hand written Hangul characters in terms of fuzzy inference.
