Resveratrol-loaded poly($\varepsilon$-caprolactone) (PCL) nanoparticles were prepared by oil in water (O/W) emulsion solvent evaporation method. The morphology of the nanoparticles was evaluated using atomic force microscope (AFM), in which well-shaped and rigid nanoparticles were prepared. The mean particle size of nanoparticles prepared using only dichloromethane (DCM) ($523.5{\pm}36.7\;nm$) was larger than that prepared with a mixture of DCM and either ethanol (EtOH) ($494.5{\pm}29.2\;nm$) or acetone ($493.5{\pm}6.9\;nm$). The encapsulation efficiency of nanoparticles prepared only with DCM as dispersed phase ($78.3{\pm}7.7%$) was the highest of those prepared with solvent mixtures. An increase in the molecular weight of PCL led to an increase in encapsulation efficiency (from $78.3{\pm}7.7$ to $91.4{\pm}3.2%$). Pluronic F-127 produced the smallest mean size ($523.5{\pm}36.7\;nm$) with the narrowest particle size distribution. These results show that dispersed phase, molecular weight of wall materials, emulsion stabilizer could be important factors to affect the properties of nanoparticles.

The extracellular polysaccharide...(EPS) has been used in a wide variety of industrial applications because of gel formation, emulsion stability, control of the surface tension, water absorption and film formation etc. In this study, inhibitory activity on tyrosinase and inhibitory activity on angiotensin converting enzyme...(ACE) are determined. UV adsorption wavelength, beads formation of EPS were investigated. In the result, in 1%(w/v) EPS concentration, EPS had inhibitory activity of 71.8% on tyrosinase and inhibitory activity of 61.5% on angiotensin converting enzyme in 1.5% EPS concentration. Adsorption wavelength of EPS was UV-B,C . Beads based on EPS were prepared by w/o emulsion method and the shape of EPS beads observed by SEM was spherical and uniform.

As a result of this study, DPPH radical scavenging activity was 81.8% at a concentration of 100 ㎍/mL of Alpinia galanga L. rhizome 70% ethanol extract (AG.E), and ABTS+ radical scavenging activity was confirmed to be 99.8%, similar to L-Ascorbic acid (AA), at a low concentration of 50 ㎍/mL AG.E. To measure anti-aging activity, collagenase and elastase inhibitory activities were measured and AG.E showed higher inhibitory effects than epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) starting at a low concentration of 50 ㎍/mL. In particular, AG.E showed inhibitory effects more than three times that of EGCG at a concentration of 500 ㎍/mL. In order to verify anti-aging effect of AG.E in CCD-986sk cell, good anti-aging effect was obtained in various experiments stimulated with UVB. In a gene expression analysis experiment using RT-PCR, the COL1A mRNA expression level was found to increase 2.90 times compared to no addition at a low concentration of 20 ㎍/mL AG.E, confirming the possibility of developing it as a good functional material related to anti-aging. As a basic study on temporal biological activity preservation ratio of material when applied to formulations, AG.E, and AA were added to a stable W/O type emulsion and stored in a thermostat at 25 ℃ for 60 days. As a result of measuring DPPH and ABTS+ radical scavenging activities on the 1st, 30th, and 60th days, it was confirmed that antioxidant effects are maintained at a high level over time in formulations.
The membrane emulsification (ME) is a technology for producing emulsions with narrow size distribution by using the well-defined porous membranes such as the SPG membrane. In this study, the preparation of polycaprolactone (PCL) microcapsules by using the multiple emulsions obtained from membrane emulsification method is studied. After the making of $W_1/O$ single emulsions by sonication method, then $W_1/O/W_2$ multiple emulsions are formed by premix-ME method. The PCL microcapsules impregnated with BSA model drug are prepared by solvent evaporating from $W_1/O/W_2$ multiple emulsions. The effects of various parameters such as the ratio of disperse/continuous phase (D/C ratio), the concentration of PCL, emulsifier and model drug and the transmembrane pressure on the size and distribution of PCL microcapsules are investigated. The uniform PCL microcapsules with about $5{\sim}6{\mu}m$ of mean size and 26% of BSA loading are obtained by the premix membrane emulsification.

Treatment of Emulsion is very important to development of Bilge Separator for new IMO Regulation. It is too difficult to demulsify the emulsion in the bilge waste water, so we use chemical treatment to break emulsion stability. Broken oil particle is treated by flotation. Bilge Separator on the Ship doesn't have enough time to treat Bilge waste water because of small space in the ship. For the solution to this problem, we experiment to find primary factor as coagulator, pH, and amount of coagulator. As the basis of test, we decided coagulator, pH and quantity of coagulator.
A new approach to obtain stable $W_1/O/W_2$ multiple emulsions has been studied ; The basis of the interfacial interaction between a PCL-PEO-PCL triblock copolymer and a lipophilic emulsifier in the dispersed oil phase was examined. $W_1/O/W_2$ multiple emulsions were prepared by the two-step method. Arlacel P-l35 was used as a liphophilic emulsifier and Synperonic PE/F 127 as a hydrophilic one. Eutanol-G was used as an oil phase. NaCl was encapsulated within the multiple emulsion droplets as the internal marker and its release rate studies were carried out. The suability of the multiple emulsions have been assessed by measuring Separation Ratios(%) and microscopic observations. The release of NaCl was significantly reduced in $W_1/O/W_2$ multiple emulsions containing PCL-PEO-PCL triblock copolymer(2k-4k-2k or 6k-4k-6k) in the oil phase. It may be concluded that the copolymer and the emulsifier form effective interfacial complex to enhance stability and to control the release rate. The effective diffusion coefficients of the NaCl were estimated as $2.64{\times}10^{-15}s$and $3.23{\times}10^{-16}gcm^2/s$ for the $W_1/O/W_2$ multiple emulsion containing 1.2 wt % of PCL-PEO-PCL triblock copolymers with compositions of 2k-4k-2k and 6k-4k-2k, respectively. The rate of release decreased with the increase of the initial concentration of NaCl. The results were examined in view of Higuchi mechanism. A kinetic model which is similar to the model for release of dispersed drugs from a polymeric matrix was found to be suitable for the release of NaCl from $W_1/O/W_2$ multiple emulsions.

Various vehicles have been studied in order to protect skin ageing and sustain constantly moisturization. Recently, in relation to maintain of moisture, absorption and penetration of active materials, there has been introducing many preparing methods such as liposome, liquid crystal and multilamellar emulsion. We developed multilayer lamellar vesicle using cetearyl alcohol/ceteth-20 phosphate/dicetyl phosphate as analogy of phospholipid according to variation of shear rate and pH. These multilayer lamellar vesicles were confirmed by cross polarizing microscope. As results, morphologies of lamellar vesicle were not uniformed at low shear rate and pH. Also, stabilities for encapsulation of retinol were observed at $42^{\circ}C$ during two months. As a result, quantitative content of retinol decreased at low pH. Multilayer lamellar vesicle decreased 14% of transepidermal water loss compared with O/W emulsion. We compared multilayer lamellar sun cream to O/W sun cream using in vitro SPF test of water resistance and concluded that multilayer lamellar sun cream is similar to O/W sun cream in water resistance.

In this study, for textile use, the octadecane of phase change materials(PCM) was encapsulated in several micro-diameter shell which prevents leakage of the material during its liquid phase. Microencapsulated PCM(PM) was prepared with the different weight ratio of core material to wall material and by interfacial polymerization methods using polyurea as shell material. Phase stability for O/W emulsion of PCM and PVA aq. (PE) was evaluated by Turbiscan Lab. The capsule formation win identified using FT-IR. Physical properties of microcapsules including diameter, particle distribution, morphology were investigated. Thermal transport properties of suede treated with PM(SPM) were determined by KES-F7 system.

A reaction device raising a generation yield by efficiently removing water generated in an esterified reaction between diethylene glycol monoethyl ether and succinic acid with mixture of an azeotropic point was newly developed as a new product in development of more stabilized emulsifier with a semi-solid phase(cream) in an emulsified phase of interfacial activity. The bis-(diethylene glycol monoethyl ether succinate(hereinafter, called as BDGS) with a high yield of more than 95% was obtained. As this has a property containing amphoteric emulsified functions such as W/O type or O/W type, etc., and has a merit that can be used regardless of any emulsified phase, there is no need using other emulsified surfactant. therefore, as this has excellent skin wetability in the cosmetics industry, a product having a wider range in quality compatibility or cost saving, etc. as a humectant has been developed.
(2, 3-Dibromopropyl) phenyl phosphate[DPP] was synthesized from 2, 3-dibromopropyl alcohol and chlorophenyl phosphate. Also, (2, 3,-dibromopropyl)phenyl octadecyl phosphate[DPOP] was synthesized from DPP and n-octadecyl chloride. Flame retardants, DPPF and DPOPF, were prepared by blending DPP and DPOP with emulsifier, respectively. The flame retardants prepared were o/w(oil in water) type emulsion flame retardants. As a result of treatments of the flame retardants on various synthetic textiles, DPPF showed only good flame retardancy, but DPOPF showed both good flame retardancy and good softness.
