  • The career stress of college students is a more serious problem caused by the difficulty of finding a job these days, and various management strategies are needed. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of part-time job experience, social support, and ego-resilience on career stress in order to suggest ways to manage career stress. The subjects were 457 college students. Multiple regression analysis was used. First, there were no significant differences in ego-resilience, social support, and career stress according to the experience of part-time job. However, employment pressure, a sub-scale of career stress, was higher among college students who had part-time jobs. Second, the experience of part-time work had a significant effect on career stress. College students without a part-time job showed higher career stress than those who had. Third, the effect of social support on career stress was more effective for college students who did not have part-time jobs. Fourth, ego-resilience showed no effect on career stress. However, an interaction effect between the part-time job experience and gender was found. Based on these findings, college students without part-time work experience should be offered counseling management through social support and a program is needed to enhance ego-resilience in female students.

We selected 5 courses for the study : Tuberculosis control, Radiological technique, Public health information, Immunization, Mental health management courses used by Kirkpatrick's evaluation model. Reaction evaluation was carried out in final day by questionnaire. The results showed that all of them were very satisfied with educational input and curricula, learn Ing environment. Secondly, we measured the degree of learning achievement on pre and post training by questionaire of specific behavioral objectives. The degree of learning achievement was statistically higher just after training than pre training (paired t-test, p<0.01). Thirdly, evaluation of behavioral change to job was conducted to find out how much students applied skill and knowledge to their own job in 3 months after training by questionnaire. The results of behavioral change evaluation showed that 43.5% of the students who were performing job related with the training courses in 3 months after training applied the learned skill and knowledge to their own job quite well and 37.8% of them applied relatively well, therefore total 81.4% of them applied to their own job. And effectiveness of training for the above mentioned students showed that 41.9 % of them had improved or enforced their jobs after training, 35.5% of them had had no remarkable changes, and 15.7% had newly applied the learned skill and knowledge to their jobs. For evaluating the degree of usefulness of material predistribution in two weeks before training, we compared experimental groups with control groups. The results showed that general reactions are helpful but the degree of learning achievement is no discrepancy.

  • The purpose of this study was to define the quality of nursing services in relation to a nurse's psychosocial factors (type A behavior pattern, self-esteem, locus of control, and anxiety), job stress, and fatigue. This study targeted 503 nurses currently working at one of six general hospitals in Daejeon city, the data were collected by a self-administered questionnaire, which was surveyed from April 1 to June 30, 2014. According to multivariate logistic regression analysis, the high self-esteem, locus of control, and strong support by supervisor and co-workers decrease the risk of a low career quality. In contrast, high situational fatigue and overall fatigue increase the risk of a low career quality. According to the results of hierarchical multiple regression analysis, the quality of nursing services increased with age, the subjective health condition was satisfying, aptitude corresponded to the jobs, self-esteem was high, anxiety was low, support by co-workers was strong, and the overall fatigue was low. Above results suggest that the quality of nursing services of nurses who work at a general hospital has a strong correlation with the psychosocial factors, job stress, and fatigue.

  • Background: Return to work after treatment completion is important for both cancer survivors and society. Financial distress is one of the factors that may influence the return to work in cancer survivors. However, this relationship has not been well investigated. This study aimed to determine the rate of return to work and its relation to financial distress among Iranian cancer survivors. Materials and Methods: This descriptive-correlational study was undertaken among 165 cancer survivors who completed their initial treatments and had no signs of active cancer. The Return to Work questionnaire and Financial Distress/Financial Well-Being Scale were used for data collection. Data were analyzed using SPSS statistical software. Results: After initial treatments, 120 cancer survivors (72%) had returned to work, of which 50 patients (42%) had returned to full-time work and 70 (58%) reduced their work hours and returned to part-time work. Cancer survivors also reported high levels of financial distress. In addition, the financial distress was lower among patients who had returned completely to work, in comparison to patients who had quit working for cancer-related reasons (p= 0.001) or returned to work as part-time workers (p=0.001). Conclusions: The findings showed that a high percent of Iranian cancer survivors had not returned to their jobs or considerably reduced working hours after treatment completion. Accordingly, due to high levels of financial distress experienced by participants and its relation to return to work, designing rehabilitation programs to facilitate cancer survivor return to work should be considered.

APNs who were performing jobs as a certified APN had a higher level of job satisfaction (t=.23, p<.001), higher wages (t=2.23, p<.05), promotion in rank (t=2.56, p<.05), more professional job performance (t=10.52, p<.001), greatest trust in their bosses and coworkers (t=5.31, p<.001), and higher confidence in their job performance (t=5.07, p<.001) than those who were not. The government and the nursing community need to provide the APNs' with the appropriate supply and demand polices, as well as a proper incentive system and job improvement.

  • In order to develop the computerized information system of occupational health management at worksite, we surveyed actual states of computer use at worksites. We used a self-administrative questionnaire to the members of Korean Association of Occupational Health Nursing(KAOHN) from July 4 to August 21 in 1997. Among the members of KAOHN, 147 members answered. The worksites where they were employed were very diverse in aspect of jobs, locations, and size. Occupational health computerized system was used at 30(20.4%) worksites among 147 respondants. When they first introduced the computerized system the most difficult problem was the lack of support of manager. The programs that they have used mainly consist of drug management, health examination management, disease management, but the program of worksite environment management have been rarely used. Most users felt that the computerized system was effective, but there were problems in connection within programs. Many worksites have plans to take or expand the computerized information system within several years. It is necessary to develop the effective and integrated occupational health computerized system.
