Purpose: This study aimed to investigate job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention among male nurses in South Korea. Methods: Data were collected in May, 2013 and a total of 150 male hospital nurses participated in this study. Job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention were measured using a structured questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 20.0 for windows. Results: There were statistically significant correlations between job satisfaction and organizational commitment (r=.74, p<.001), job satisfaction and turnover intention (r=-.56, p<.001), and organizational commitment and turnover intention (r=-.69, p< .001). There was a statistically significant difference in job satisfaction of participants according to education, work unit, and salary. Organizational commitment showed significant difference according to age, education, work unit, and salary. Turnover intention was significantly different according to duration of employment in the hospital, and salary. The most influential factor for turnover intention was organizational commitment (${\beta}=-.69$, p<.001). This factor accounted for 47.8% of the variance in turnover intention. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that to reduce turnover intention for men in nursing, it is necessary to increase job satisfaction, and organizational commitment.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test and validate a model to predict living and brain death organ donation intention in nursing students. The conceptual model was based on the theory planned behavior. Methods: Quota sampling methodology was used to recruit 921 nursing students from all over the country and data collection was done from October 1 to December 20, 2013. Results: The model fit indices for the hypothetical model were suitable for the recommended level. Knowledge, attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control explained 40.2% and 40.1% respectively for both living and brain death organ donation intention. Subjective norm was the most direct influential factor for organ donation intention. Knowledge had significant direct effect on attitude and indirect effect on subjective norm and perceived behavioral control. These effects were higher in brain death organ donation intention than in living donation intention. Conclusion: The overall findings of this study suggest the need to develop systematic education programs to increases knowledge about brain death organ donation. The development, application, and evaluation of intervention programs are required to improve subjective norm.
Purpose: This study was performed to measure the influence of drinking motives, drinking refusal self-efficacy, and self-determination on the intention to control drinking among nursing students. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was done with the participation of 258 nursing students attending four universities in G city. Data collection was conducted from May to June, 2018, using a self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and Hierarchical multiple regression. Results: The average scores for drinking motives, drinking refusal self-efficacy, self-determination, and intention to control drinking were 2.29, 4.54, 3.89, and 4.29 respectively. There were significant differences in the intention to control drinking according to grade, religion, and age of alcohol initiation. The factors influencing the intention to control drinking in nursing students were identified as self-determination (${\beta}=.24$), drinking refusal self-efficacy (${\beta}=.17$) and drinking motives (${\beta}=-.17$). This factor explained 26% of the nursing students' intention to control drinking. Conclusion: Therefore, it is necessary to develop a alcohol education program to improve the drinking culture of nursing college students and to improve their self-regulation skills in order to help them form a desirable drinking habit, and it is also necessary to apply the developed intervention program and test the effect.

Purpose: Nurses are exposed to stressful circumstances during the COVID-19 outbreak, which increases their turnover intention. This study aimed to identify predictive factors of turnover intention among nurses during the COVID-19 outbreak. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional design using self-report questionnaires. A total of 164 nurses working at three hospitals participated voluntarily in the study. Questionnaires included nursing professionalism, job satisfaction, control belief and COVID-19 stress. Data were collected from February 1, 2021, to March 15, 2021. Data were analyzed with SPSS WIN 23.0 program using descriptive statistics, x2-test, independent t-test and logistic regression. Results: The turnover intention rate of nurses was 33.5%. Two significant predictors of nurses' turnover intention were identified, including risk acceptance in caring for patients with COVID-19 (odds ratio [OR] 4.24, 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.76~10.49) and nursing professionalism (OR=1.06, 95% CI=1.02~1.10). Conclusion: Hospital administrations should provide an improved work environment, such as individual protective equipment, compensation and protective system to nurses to avoid turnover intention in COVID-19 outbreak.

Purpose: This study aimed to examine effect sizes of leadership styles of nursing managers on turnover intention of hospital nurses. Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted in accordance with the PRISMA and MOOSE guidelines. Participants were nurses working in hospitals. The intervention involved nursing managers' leadership styles; the outcome assessed was nurses' turnover intention. This was an observational study design. Eleven databases were searched to obtain articles published in Korean or English. Of the 14,428 articles reviewed, 21 were included in systematic review and meta-analysis. Comprehensive Meta-Analysis and R software programs were used. Results: The total effect size r (ESr) was - 0.25 (95% confidence interval: - 0.29 to - 0.20). Effect sizes of each leadership style on turnover intention were as follows: ethical leadership (ESr = - 0.34), transformational leadership (ESr = - 0.28), authentic leadership (ESr = - 0.23), transactional leadership (ESr = - 0.21), and passive avoidant leadership (ESr = 0.13). Ethical leadership was the most effective style in decreasing turnover intention of hospital nurses. Conclusion: Positive leadership styles of nurse managers effectively decrease turnover intention of hospital nurses, and negative leadership styles of nurse managers effectively increase turnover intention of hospital nurses. The ethical leadership style is the most effective in decreasing turnover intention of hospital nurses; however, it requires careful interpretation as its effects are reported by only two studies. This study contributes to addressing the high turnover rate of hospital nurses and developing positive leadership styles of nurse managers in hospital settings.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the mediating effects of career motivation and job-esteem and the effect of the nursing work environment on intention to stay among hospital nurses. Methods: Data were collected from 289 nurses working at an advanced general hospital. The research model design was based on the PROCESS macro proposed by Hayes and analyzed using SPSS 24.0 program. Results: The results showed a positive correlation between intention to stay and nursing work environment (r = .19, p = .001), career motivation (r = .34, p < .001), and job-esteem (r = .37, p < .001). Nursing work environment (B = 0.34 [.09~.59]) and job-esteem (B = 0.27 [.04~.49]) had a direct effect on intention to stay. There was a two-mediator sereal mediation effect of career motivation and job-esteem. The nursing work environment showed a significant effect on the intention to stay among hospital nurses through career motivation and job-esteem. Conclusion: In order to increase the retention rate of hospital nurses, it is suggested that government and medical institutions provide multifaceted support that can increase nurses' motivation for career development and recognition of the nursing profession through improvement of the nursing work environment.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to construct and test a structural equation model on nursing work outcomes based on Youssef and Luthans' positive psychological capital and integrated conceptual framework of work performance. Methods: This study used a structured questionnaire administered to 340 nurses. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results: Positive psychological capital showed indirect and direct effects on job satisfaction, retention intention, organizational citizenship behavior, and nursing performance. While, the nursing work environment had direct and indirect effects on job satisfaction and nursing performance, it only had indirect effects on intention to work and organizational citizenship behavior. Additionally, a mediating effect on retention intention and organizational citizenship behavior was found between job satisfaction and nursing performance variables. Conclusion: The nursing organization needs to build a supportive work environment and reinforce positive psychological capital to improve nursing performance. Additionally, it needs to actively manage the necessary parameters involved in the stages of job satisfaction, retention intention, nursing performance, and organizational citizenship behavior of nurses. The findings propose the continuous management of nursing personnel based on nurses' attitude outcome, behavioral intention, behavioral outcome, and stage of role performance.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships of authentic leadership and nursing organizational culture to the intention of hospital nurses to stay in their current position. Methods: The participants of this study were 503 nurses in 8 hospitals. We collected data using questionnaires for assessing authentic leadership, nursing organization culture and intention to stay. For data analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, Pearson's correlation coefficient, Tukey test, Multiple regression were performed using SAS ver.9.4 (SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, USA). Results: Authentic leadership (${\beta}=.12$, p=.008) and relation-oriented culture (${\beta}=.13$, p=.009) affected the intention of the hospital nurses to stay. These variables accounted for 29% of the variance in the intention to stay among hospital nurses. Conclusion: The finding of this study shows that the authentic leadership and nursing organizational culture especially relation-focused can influence nurses' intention to stay in their current position. For retaining nurses, it is suggested to use an authentic leadership training program for nursing leaders and to make efforts to establish a relation-focused culture in the hospital.
