간호사가 인식한 간호관리자의 진정성 리더십이 조직몰입 및 직무만족에 미치는 영향: 임파워먼트의 매개효과를 중심으로 (Influence of Nurse Managers' Authentic Leadership on Nurses' Organizational Commitment and Job Satisfaction: Focused on the Mediating Effects of Empowerment)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the mediating effect of empowerment in the relationship of nurse managers' authentic leadership, with nurses' organizational commitment and job satisfaction. Methods: The participants in this study were 273 registered nurses working in five University hospitals located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The measurements included the Authentic Leadership Questionnaire, Condition of Work Effectiveness Questionnaire-II, Organizational Commitment Questionnaire and Korea-Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson correlation coefficients, simple and multiple regression techniques with the SPSS 18.0 program. Mediation analysis was performed according to the Baron and Kenny method and Sobel test. Results: There were significant correlations among authentic leadership, empowerment, organizational commitment and job satisfaction. Empowerment showed perfect mediating effects in the relationship between authentic leadership and organizational commitment. It had partial mediating effects in the relationship between authentic leadership and job satisfaction. Conclusion: In this study, nurse managers' authentic leadership had significant influences on nurses organizational commitment and job satisfaction via empowerment. Therefore, to enhance nurses' organizational commitment and job satisfaction, it is necessary to build effective strategies to enhance nurse manager's authentic leadership and to develop empowering education programs for nurses.

모유수유 임파워먼트 프로그램이 초산모의 모유수유 자기효능감, 적응 및 지속에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Breastfeeding Empowerment Program on Breastfeeding Self-efficacy, Adaptation and Continuation in Primiparous Women)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a breastfeeding empowerment program and to investigate the effects of the breastfeeding empowerment program on self-efficacy, adaptation and continuation of breastfeeding for primiparous women. Methods: The 5 session breastfeeding empowerment program was developed and a non-equivalent control group non-synchronized quasi-experiment design was used. Fifty-five participants were assigned to either the experimental group (n=27) or the control group (n=28). Effects were tested using repeated measures ANOVA and $x^2-test$. Results: Scores for self-efficacy, adaptation and continuation of breastfeeding of in the experimental group after program were significantly higher than 1week, 4weeks, 8weeks scores in control group. Conclusion: The effects of the breastfeeding empowerment program for elevating self-efficacy, adaptation and continuation of breastfeeding in primiparous women were validated. Therefore, this program can be recommended for vigorous use in clinical practice.

중환자실 간호사의 심리적 임파워먼트와 의료관련감염 관리의 인지도 및 수행도 (Awareness and Performance of Healthcare-Associated Infections Control and Psycological Empowerment of Intensive Care Unit Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to examine psychological empowerment and awareness and performance of Healthcare-Associated Infections(HAIs) control among Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses. Method: The data for this study were collected using structured questionnaires from 178 nurses working in the ICUs of four hospitals with more than 500 beds. Results: The subjects'psychological empowerment, awareness and performance of HAIs control were mean over. The subjects'psychological empowerment showed statistically significant differences depending on age, marital status, academic background, clinical career, ICU career, and position and experience in infection control among their general characteristics. Awareness of HAIs control showed statistically significant differences depending on age, gender, marital status, clinical career, and ICU career. Performance showed statistically significant differences depending on age, gender, marital status, and, ICU career. Regarding the subjects' performance of HAIs control, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between psychological empowerment and awareness. Conclusion: It was found that it is necessary to strengthen differential customized training according to the subjects'characteristics for effective HAIs control, and to strengthen the nurses'awareness of HAIs control through systematic evaluation, monitoring, and feedback, as well as continuous education and training.

제2형 당뇨병 환자의 자가간호행위, 임파워먼트 및 사회적 지지가 당화혈색소에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Self-care Behaviors, Empowerment and Social Support on Glycosylated Hemoglobin in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to analyze the effects of self-care behavior, empowerment, and social support on glycosylated hemoglobin in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: The data were collected during the period of July 1 to July 31, 2016. In total, 172 participants were recruited from outpatients who had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at a health care center, a health promotion center at National Health Insurance Corporation, and a tertiary hospital. Statistical data were analyzed with SPSS 20.0 using frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchical regression analysis. Results: The study results showed that self-care behavior (${\beta}=-.34$, p<.001), empowerment (${\beta}=-.34$, p<.001), and social support (${\beta}=-.20$, p=.018) were found to be influential factors affecting glycosylated hemoglobin, with an overall descriptive power of 69%. Conclusion: Self-care behavior, empowerment, and social support are considered to be important factors in blood glucose management for the patients with type 2 diabetes. Therefore, self-caring blood glucose programs and internal synchronizing education through social support and empowerment need to be improved.

치매노인 가족 지지프로그램이 치매가족의 임파워먼트와 치매태도에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of a Support Program for Family Caregivers of Elderly with Dementia on Empowerment and Attitudes toward Dementia)

  • Purpose: This research was conducted to identify the effects of providing support programs to families of elderly with dementia on family empowerment and attitudes toward dementia. Methods: A nonequivalent control group pre- and post-test design was used. Participants were 49 family caregivers, experimental (24) and control (25), recruited from families through a dementia support center in Y district. This program implemented Haearim, a support program for family caregivers of demented elders developed by the National Institute of Dementia in 2016. Outcome measures were empowerment and attitudes toward to dementia. Data were analyzed with a ${\chi}^2-test$, independent t-test, Fisher's exact probability test, paired t-test, and repeated measures ANOVA with SPSS/PC version 20.0. Results: Family empowerment (F=6.84, p=.002) and family caregivers' attitudes (F=16.48, p<.001) toward dementia in the experimental group improved significantly more than that of the control group after intervention. Conclusion: Results indicate that support programs for families of elderly with dementia are effective in positively changing empowerment and attitudes toward dementia among family caregivers.

자기효능감과 임파워먼트가 간호사의 조직후원인식과 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Self-Efficacy and Empowerment on Perceived Organizational Support and Organizational Citizenship Behaviors of Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of self-efficacy and empowerment on perceived organizational support and organizational citizenship behavior of nurses. Method: The subjects of this study were 327 nurses who were working at seven hospitals. The data were collected by structured questionnaire from Feb. 12 to Mar. 5 of 2006. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Stepwise multiple regression on SPSS/PC 12.0 program. Results: The mean score of self-efficacy was 3.75, empowerment was 3.68, perceived organizational support(POS) was 2.87, and organizational citizenship behavior(OCB) was 3.64. The POS had statistically significant differences according to position(F=3.207, p=.013). The self-efficacy and empowerment were positively correlated with POS and OCB. The self-efficacy(7.0%), meaning(8.5%), competency(12.4%), self-determination(1.9%), and impact(4.8%) explained 34.6% of the variance for POS. The self-efficacy(17.1%), meaning(1.0%), competency(2.8%), self-determination(3.2%), and impact(13.2%) explained 37.3% of the variance for OCB. Conclusion: The findings showed that self-efficacy and empowerment were important factors for enhancing POS and OCB in nursing organization. Therefore, the nurse manager must establish the strategies to improve the self-efficacy and empowerment of the nurses in order to promote the POS and OCB.

간호대학생의 의료관련감염 관리를 위한 표준주의지침 수행도 영향요인 : 환자안전에 대한 태도, 임파워먼트, 인지도를 중심으로 (Affecting Factors on Performance of Standard Precaution for Healthcare associated Infection Control and Prevention in Nursing Students: focused on Patient Safety Attitude, Empowerment, Awareness)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생의 환자안전에 대한 태도, 임파원먼트, 표준주의지침 인지도 및 수행도 간의 관련성을 파악하고, 표준주의지침 수행도의 영향요인을 규명하고자 시도되었다. 연구대상자는 J시 소재 일 간호대학 재학생 185명이었다. 자료수집은 2018년 9월 10일에서 21일까지 진행되었으며, 수집된 자료는 SPSS Statistics 22.0 프로그램을 이용하여 Independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression으로 분석하였다. 다중회귀분석 결과 표준주의지침 수행도의 영향요인은 인지도, 임파워먼트, 환자안전행사 참여로 나타났으며 수행도를 51.0% 설명하였다. 이에 간호대학생의 의료관련감염 관리를 위한 표준주의지침 수행도를 향상시키기 위해서는 인지도를 높이고 임파워먼트를 향상시킬 수 있는 다양한 융합적 교육프로그램의 적용과 환자안전행사에 간호대학생이 적극 참여할 수 있도록 하는 방안을 모색하여야 할 것이다.

Factors Affecting the Performance of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) control- Focus on Empowerment and Awareness of General Hospital Nurses

  • The aims of the study to investigate the relationship between awareness, empowerment and performance of healthcare associated infections (HAIs) control and to identify factors influencing performance of HAIs among general hospital nurses. Data were collected from 230 nurses in two general hospitals in B city, with the questionnaire of an empowerment, awareness and performance of infection control tool. The data were analyzed by t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regressions. The performance of infection control was significantly correlated with empowerment and awareness of infection control. The empowerment had a positive correlation with an awareness of infection control (r= .233, p <.001) respectively. The infection control performance was influenced by infection control awareness, empowerment and number of annual job training, which explained 42.2% of the performance of infection control. Infection management performance of general hospitals nurses is affected not only by infection awareness but also by empowerment and job education. Therefore, it suggests that HAIs management program could develop for the nurses and provide empowerment with job training to improve the management and performance of HAIs, also to reinforce via constant support by the hospital.

직무특성모형에 의한 간호조직유효성 예측요인 (The Effects of Job Characteristics on the Nursing Organizational Effectiveness)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to testify effectiveness and adaptability of the job characteristics model in nursing organization. Methods: The subjects of this study were 250 nurses who were working in the 2 general hospitals located in Metropolitan city area. The data were collected by self-reporting questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and path analysis. Results: The modified path model revealed a highly fitness of the data in the overall fitness indexes. The prediction power of modified model was from 44% to 58%, which was very high. The highest predict factors of organizational commitment were identified meaning of empowerment and feedback of job characteristics. The highest predict factors of job satisfaction were identified impact of empowerment and autonomy of job characteristics. Conclusion: With these findings, it was suggested that the nursing job-redesign plan focused on nursing feedback and autonomy among the job characteristics was needed to increase the nurse’ empowerment as well as nursing organizational effectiveness.

외래 통원 관상동맥질환 노인환자의 건강정보이해능력, 건강임파워먼트가 건강행위이행에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Health Literacy and Health Empowerment on Health Behavior Practice in Elderly Outpatients with Coronary Artery Disease)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this descriptive study was to identify the influence of health literacy and health empowerment on health behavior practice in elderly patients with coronary artery disease. Methods: 239 elderly outpatients older than 65 years of age were included. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics including independent t-test, ANOVA, and hierarchical regression. Results: Major factors having a significant impact on health behavior practice were health literacy (${\beta}=.26$, p<.001) and health empowerment (${\beta}=.32$, p<.001). Health literacy was increased by 4.7% after controlling for general and health-related characteristics. Health empowerment increased by 5.9% after controlling for general and health-related characteristics, and health literacy. The two variables explained 35% of the variance in health behavior practice (F=7.74, p<.001). Conclusion: The main findings of this study can be utilized as the foundation for developing programs to promote health empowerment and health behavior practice of the elderly population. Furthermore, the results of the study can also be used to establish health-related strategies.
