In this paper, a relationship between the noise and vibration of a high-speed train's wheelset is examined by using time-varying frequency analysis with random data analysis which together contributes to a reduction in the number of experimental running. The noise and vibration of the wheelset is mainly caused by an interaction between the wheel and railway which shows in non-stationary characteristics. For the analysis, they are measured by some microphones and accelerometers, and those signals are post-processed by time-varying frequency analysis with random data analysis. From the analysis, their methods are useful for analyzing the noise and vibration of high-speed train's wheelset.
This study analyzed the efficiency change and the factors affecting productivity change for the six railway operation corporations that are local public enterprises; study was performed with the DEA-CCR Model and Malmquist Productivity Index, using data collected from 2010 to 2014. Since it was not feasible to collect data on the operating expenses and the number of employees of each of the lines, the efficiencies of each operation corporation were analyzed by integrating the operation corporations, and the Malmquist Productivity Index was used to investigate the trend of the periodical productivity change. Average efficiency for urban railway operation corporations was found to be higher in the case of the bigger corporations. In 2014, the Seoul Metro and the Daejeon Metropolitan Express Transit Corporations were analyzed and found to be the most efficient operation corporations. The Malmquist Productivity Index was used to determine the periodical change; the average MPI was 1.06, with a continuous increase of productivity. The analysis showed that changes of technology were generally more obvious than change of technology efficiency for all six operation corporations.
The stability analysis for CWR is difficult in the theory itself because both geometric and material nonlinearity should be considered. Also the analysis results are varied according to the loading history. In contrast to the complexity in the theory, the analysis results for CWR on the railway bridges are quite simple and can be predicted because of a small buckling effect and its negligible nonlinearity. In this study, refined nonlinear analysis methods for the stability analysis of CWR on the railway bridges were developed which consider only material nonlinearity beeause the effects of geometric nonlinearity are nominal. In this study, the analysis results can be found within limited number of iterations with idealized linear force-displacement relationship. From the analysis result comparisons, it was found that the stability analysis for CWR on the railway bridges can be performed effectively by this method.

Metropolitan railway headway is calculated and decided by external conditions such as appropriate level of service and competitiveness rather than passenger demand for the peak time which is based on transport passenger capability of train. On contrast of inter-city urban railways, train time intervals of sub-urban metropolitan railway were fixed more than 20 mins in the peak time which results in low level of convenience. Big gap of headway brings a vicious circle of deteriorating competitiveness and decreasing the number of customers. Also this time gap of train interval results in stagnation of passenger demand, and makes it difficult to reduce headway. This thesis is a basic research to identify headway problems and their solutions of metropolitan railway. This thesis suggests passenger demand and the calculated standard for setting the headway, and reviews the level of passenger crowdedness, the numbers of coach for each train and time-competitiveness. At the last, thesis suggests the need for making headway by means of train services throughout benefit & cost analysis. And it also recommends the improved calculating method of setting up headway considering the different train headway standards by regional situation, flexibility in the number of coaches for a train, government policy to activate railway business and the need for setting up the standard for train service level.

In the train system, railway vehicles are connected in a line. Therefore, this feature should be considered in composing network topology in a train system. Besides, inter-car communication should be distinguished from in-car communication. As for the inter-car communication, the hybrid topology was proposed to use rather than the conventional ring, star, daisy-chain, and bus topologies. In the hybrid topology, a number of cars are bound to be a group. Then star topology is used for the communication in a group and daisy-chain topology is used for the communication between groups. Hybrid topology takes the virtue of both star and daisy-chain topologies. Hence it maintains communication speed with reducing the number of connecting cables between cars. Therefore, it is important to choose the number of cars in a group to obtain higher performance. In this paper, we focus on the optimization of hybrid topology for railway cars. We first assume that the size of data and the frequency of data production for each car is identical. We also assume that the importance for the maximum number of cables to connect cars is variable as well as the importance of the communication speed. Separated weights are granted to both importance and we derive the optimum number of cars in a group for various number of cars and weights.

The number of deaths for railway traffic accidents is mainly caused by working close to the track, or when unauthorized passage pass through the track. The safety fences are being used to ensure safety for workers close to the track, and to improve the efficiency of the work, without interfering with the passage of trains. However, a safety fence for railway tracks needs to be examined to see if it will interfere with the passage of trains. The purpose of this study is to analyze the safe distance between train and safety fence developed in Korea. In addition, the lateral load condition of wind pressure by trains is estimated and numerical analysis is carried out according to the installation intervals of railway safety fences. It has been confirmed that the proper spacing between the train and the railway safety fence should be at least 200 mm from the vehicle limit, and that the proper spacing of railway safety fence must be calculated in consideration of the wind pressure by trains.
This paper presents a mettled to reduce the number of conductors of catenary system for estimating line constants. Conductors of a catenary system are grouped and reduced. For example, the model representing the contact and the messenger conductors with a single equivalent conductor is. probably more realistic than assuming the two conductors completely separated, since they are generally connected by droppers every few meters. Therefore, this paper shows the method to reduce the number of conductors using electric circuit theory. To verify the results, we compared the equivalent line constants obtained by proposed method with those obtained by measurement.

This paper considers the container storage problem determining storage position of inbound containers in a container yard at a rail freight terminal. The objective of the problem is to minimize the total number of rehandles when storing/retrieving containers onto/from stacks in the yard. Rehandle implies the temporary removal from and placement back onto the stack to retrieval a target container. In order to solve the problem, we formulate the problem as a binary integer program.

The purpose of this study is to analyze transport efficiency of each of the 17 urban railway lines being operated by national public agencies using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and to seek strategies for improving efficiency of the urban railway system. The study identified the economies of scale derived from these values of efficiency and examined the effects on cost for free ride loss and profit of transport by the fare system as the external factor. At the time, Transport profits are estimated by two production factors such as the number of vehicles and service frequency derived from multiple regression. Finally, the measures to improve the efficiency were presented in terms of profitability in the national urban railway line by applying the values of efficiency derived from DEA to multidimensional scaling (MDS).

In the case of urban railway facilities, the power supply should be maintained for the safe movement of passengers in communication facilities, disaster prevention facilities and boarding area security because of the confusion when power supply is cut off due to the nature of public transportation. In addition, considering that the number of trains is running on the urban railway line, it is necessary to operate at least 30 minutes for the bus stop and at least 1 hour for the communication and disaster prevention facilities. Therefore, it is essential to supply emergency power source to maintain stable operation of induction lamp and smoke exhaust system because main power is cut off in order to prevent further spread due to fire in case of the history of urban railway section or vehicle fires. Recently, UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) function to prevent power outage in emergency, emergency power generation combined with ESS function which saves electricity at nighttime price time, A hybrid power storage system with a UPS function.
