In this study, the computer code for the optimal design of road tunnel ventilation system based on one-dimensional analysis of the air flow was developed. The control volume method was used to calculate the air velocities and the concentration distribution of pollutants(CO, NOx, Particulate) for various tunnel ventilation system. This code was validated by comparing the calculation results to the practical design data for the road tunnel ventilation system. The calculation results were in accord with the practical design data.

This research was carried but to investigate the characteristics of mist removal with the change of operating conditions in the plasma reactor of impulse streamer corona based on the distribution of particle size measured by laser diffraction spectrometers. The operating conditions in this experiment were power of impulse streamer corona, gas velocity, collection time, and SOx/NOx concentration. The collection efficiency T(d) was estimated by distribution of particle size in the collection zone through the advanced model.

A mobile emission laboratory (MEL) was designed to measure the amount of traffic pollutants with high temporal and spatial resolution under real conditions. Equipment for gas-phase measurements of quantity of CO, NOx, $CO_2$, and THC and for the measurement of the number density and size distribution of fine and ultra-fine particles by a FMPS and a CPC were placed in a mini-van. The exhaust of different type of vehicles can be sampled by MEL. This paper describes the construction and technical details of the MEL and presents data from the experiment in which a car chases city buses fuelled by diesel, CNG, and LPG. The diameters of most particles in the exhaust of the diesel city bus were less than 300 nm and most of the particles had a diameter of 30-60 nm. However, most particles in the exhaust of the CNG and LPG city buses were nanoparticles (diameter: less than 50 nm).
In this paper, purpose of study is emissions characteristics according to effects of heating value variations of CNG fuel in a dual-fuel engine fueled by diesel and natural gas. For heating value variation of CNG fuel, nitrogen gas was mixed with pure CNG fuel. So the higher heating value was changed from $10,400kcal/Nm^3$ to $9,400kcal/Nm^3$. Under one condition of CNG substitution rate was fixed at 80%, diesel fuel was injected at a fixed injection timing of 16 CAD BTDC and fuel pressure was also fixed at 110 MPa. The condition of tested engine was 1800 rpm and 500Nm. Emissions were sampled in exhaust pipe was located at downstream turbocharger. As a result, emissions characteristics were checked in heating value variations of CNG fuel with mixed nitrogen gas THC, $CH_4$ and CO emissions decreased and NOx and $CO_2$ increased.
In this study, a vanadium catalyst study was conducted on the various characteristics of the exhaust gas in the Selective-Catalytic-Reduction (SCR) method in which nitrogen oxides emitted from cogeneration using biogas are removed by using ammonia as a reducing agent and a catalyst. V/W/TiO2, a commercial catalyst, was used as the catalyst in this study, and the effect was confirmed according to the tungsten content under various operating conditions. As a result of the NH3-SCR experiment, the denitrification performance was confirmed at 380 ~ 450 ℃ more than 95%, and durability to trace amounts of SO2 was confirmed through the SO2 durability experiment and TGA analysis. As a result of H2-TPR analysis, the higher the tungsten content, the better the redox properties. Accordingly, enhanced oxidizing properties were confirmed in the oxidation test for a trace amount of carbon monoxide emitted from the cogeneration. In NH3-DRIFTs analysis, it was confirmed that the higher the tungsten content, the higher both the Bronsted/Lewis acid sites and the better the thermal durability when tungsten is added to the catalyst. Based on the experiments under various operating conditions, it is considered that a catalyst with a high tungsten content is suitable to be applied to cogeneration using biogas.
Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is widely used as a method of removing nitrogen oxide in large-capacity thermal power generation systems. Uniform mixing of the injected ammonia and the inlet flue gas is very important to the performance of the denitrification reduction process in the catalyst bed. In the present study, a computational analysis technique was applied to the ammonia injection system design process of a denitrification facility. The applied model is the denitrification facility of an 800 MW class coal-fired power plant currently in operation. The flow field to be solved ranges from the inlet of the ammonia injection system to the end of the catalyst bed. The flow was analyzed in the two-dimensional domain assuming incompressible. The steady-state turbulent flow was solved with the commercial software named ANSYS-Fluent. The nozzle arrangement gap and injection flow rate in the ammonia injection system were chosen as the design parameters. A total of four (4) cases were simulated and compared. The root mean square of the NH3/NO molar ratio at the inlet of the catalyst layer was chosen as the optimization parameter and the design of the experiment was used as the base of the optimization algorithm. The case where the nozzle pitch and flow rate were adjusted at the same time was the best in terms of flow uniformity.
In this study, nitrogen oxide (NOx) removal experiments were performed using a graphene based ceramic filter coated with a V2O5-WO3-TiO2 catalyst. Graphene oxide (GO) was prepared by Hummer's method using graphite, and the reduced graphene oxide was produced by reducing with hydrazine (N2H4). Vanadium (V), Tungsten (W), and Titanium (Ti) were coated by the sol-gel method, and then a metal oxide-supported filter was prepared through a calcination process at 350 ℃. A NOx removal efficiency test was performed for the catalytic ceramic filters with UV light in a humid condition. When graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) were present on the filter, the NOx removal efficiency was superior to that of the conventional ceramic filter. Most likely, this is due to an improvement in the adsorption properties of NOx molecules on graphene coated surfaces. As the concentration of graphene increased, higher NOx removal efficiency was confirmed.

In the present study, a single cylinder four stroke dual fuel diesel engine was tested to investigate the performance and emission characteristics of various test fuels. The engine was tested in dual fuel mode using diesel and Karanja biodiesel blends as pilot fuel along with Natural gas as primary fuel with a constant gas flow rate under different loading conditions. From the experimentation it was found that smoke opacity and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) are at low level for all the prepared test fuels in dual fuel mode but the emissions of carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) and hydrocarbon (HC) were found higher. In comparison to diesel fuel, by increasing the blend percentage different emission parameters are found to be reduced. At different loading conditions all the test fuels show poor performance in dual fuel mode of operation when compared with single mode of operation with diesel and biodiesel. With increase in gas flow rates, except (NOx) and smoke emissions, the other emission parameters like CO, HC and $CO_2$ values increased for all test fuels. Again, all blended fuels showed lower performance compared to diesel. The maximum pilot fuel savings for diesel was found decreasing with the increase in karanja biodiesel. From the present work it may be concluded that Karanja biodiesel with Natural gas in dual mode can be can used as promising alternative for diesel with some required engine modifications and further research must be carried out to minimize the emissions of CO, HC and $CO_2$.

Organic carbon (OC) and elemental carbon (EC) in PM2.5 were measured with Sunset Laboratory Model-5 Semi-Continuous OC/EC Field Analyzer by NIOSH/TOT method at Anmyeondo Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) Regional Station (37°32'N, 127°19'E) in July and August, 2017. The mean values of OC and EC were 3.7 ㎍ m-3 and 0.7 ㎍ m-3, respectively. During the study period, the concentrations of reactive gases and aerosol compositions were evidently lower than those of other seasons. It is mostly due to meteorological setting of the northeast Asia, where the influence of continental outflow is at its minimum during this season under southwesterly wind. While the diurnal variation of OC and EC were not clear, the concentrations of O3, CO, NOx, EC, and OC were evidently enhanced under easterly wind at night from 20:00 to 8:00. However, the high concentration of EC was observed concurrently with CO and NOx under northerly wind during 20:00~24:00. It indicates the influence of thermal power plant and industrial facilities, which was recognized as a major emission source during KORUS-AQ campaign. The diurnal variations of pollutants clearly showed the influence of land-sea breeze, in which OC showed good correlation between EC and O3 in seabreeze. It is estimated to be the recirculation of pollutants in land-sea breeze cycle. This study suggests that in general, Anmyeondo station serves well as a background monitoring station. However, the variation in meteorological condition is so dynamic that it is primary factor to determine the concentrations of secondary species as well as primary pollutants at Anmyeondo station.
