  • We propose an Executive Information Systems (EIS) Architecture for chief officers of the Air Force using data warehousing method. This architecture has two main proposes. The one is to provide the information for chief officers to control and command their organizations effectively by analyzing operation data at normal times. The other is to provide chief officers with the information about current situation so that they may make right and rapid decisions at emergency. The architecture introduced here is one that analyzes operational trends as well as current trends in a hierarchical organization environment. System analysis and design techniques for the Air Force EIS such as data flow diagram, system structure, entity-relational diagram, and third normal form of relational database were presented. After prototype screens are demonstrated, benefits of new EIS architecture were also discussed as a conclusion.

  • The intraction between cimetidine and rifampicin was studied pharmacokinetically in normal human subjects. The serum level and the area under the serum concentration curve(AUC) of rifampicin administrated orally were elevated significantly by cimetidine. Volume of distribution, total clearance and elimination rate constant of rifampicin were reduced significanyly by cimetidine. Biological half-life of rifampicin was prolonged significantly by cimetidine. The mechanism of this results is probably related to the inhibition of rifampicin metabolism(deacetyl form) or reduction of blood flow in the liver. It is desirable that dosage regimen of rifampicin shoud be adjusted when combined with cimetidine in clinical pharmacy practice.

  • A new auscultation system for the detection of breath sound form trachea was developed in house. Small size microphone(panasonic pin microphone) was encapsuled in a housing for resonant effect, and hardware for the sound detection was fabricated. Pulmonary function test results were compared with the parameters extracted from frequency spectrum of breath sound obtained from the developed system. Results showed that the peak frequency and relative ratio of integral values between low(80∼400Hz) and high(400∼800Hz) frequency ranges revealed the significant differences. Developed system could be used for distinguishing normal subject and the patients who have pulmonary disease.

  • Robust pitch estimation is an important study in many areas of speech processing. In voice pathology, diverse statistics extracted form pitch were commonly used to test voice quality. In this study, we compared several established pitch detection algorithms (PDAs) for verification of adequacy of the PDAs. In the database of total pathological voices of 99 and normal voices of 30, an analysis of errors related with pitch detection was evaluated between pathological and normal voices, or among the types of pathological voices such as benign vocal fold lesions; polyp, nodule, and cysts. Consequently, it is required to survey the severity of tested voice in order to obtain accurate pitch estimates.

  • Sensory quality variations of jajang sauce were monitored by the $\bar{X}-chart$ and capability analysis based on specifications of each sensory attributes. For sensory quality control (QC) of the sauce which has a strong sweetness and sourness, the ratio of sourness/sweetness was examined as a necessary QC factor to maintain the balance of sweetness and sourness. For the sensory QC factors, all the sensory data were divided into individual sensory score of reference which was a pack of sauce manufactured a week ago. The ratio form of sensory data was useful for decreasing individual variations and for increasing normality of data measured by category scale. The overall proportion of out-spec products under normal manufacturing conditions was obtained by capability analysis of sensory data with normal distribution. Out-spec samples were monitored by the $\bar{X}-chart$ of each sensory attributes.

  • Otoacoustic emissions(OAEs) are low-level sounds produced by the inner ear. This is based on the discovery that the cochlea in the normal human inner ear itself emits in the form of acoustic energy. Thus we transmit the stimulus to the ear through speaker then measure the evoked response using miniature microphone. Otoacoustic emissions are averaged by time-locking so that distinguish the spectrum between normal human and impaired.

  • In unreplicated factorial or fractional factorial experiments, the presence of one or more outliers can seriously affect the analysis of variance. Using the normal plot of t residuals to identify outliers in factorial or fractional factorial is an easy method to find these dubious points. In some cases, the t residuals form the identical pairs. One can not tell from the plot which is doubtful. This phenomenon occurs for all minimal designs of resolution IV, which fits the model containing all main effects and some two-factor interactions, whether it is orthogonal or not. In these kinds of models, when we drop one point or two points (not foldover pair) from the fraction, the phenomenon of identical pairs of t residuals may still occur. In this paper, the theoretical background of the phenomenon and its sequences will be investigated in detail.

  • Arcanobacterium haemolyticum was usually isolated from respiratory infection. Occasionally, the cases were reported to cause pharyngotonsillitis, cellutitis, and abscess. A. haemolyticum is V form gram-positive bacilli (coryneform bacilli), which isoften considered to be non-pathogenic normal flora or contaminants in respiratory, skin and wound infection. In order to discriminate from normal flora, incubation for at least 48 hours is recommended. We describe a case that A. haemolyticum was isolated from cellulitis with group G ${\beta}$-hemolytic Streptococcus, Klebsiella pneumoniae ssp. pneumoniae, and Prevotella disiens.

  • The excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) emission has been observed for 0.01 mM p-aminosalicylic acid (AS) in nonpolar aprotic solvents as demonstrated by the large Stokes' shifted fluorescence emission around 440 nm in addition to the normal emission at 330 nm. However in aprotic polar solvent such as acetonitrile, the large Stokes' shifted emission band becomes broadened, indicating existence of another emission band originated from intramolecular charge transfer (ICT). It is noteworthy that in protic solvents such as methanol and ethanol the normal and ICT emissions are quenched as the AS concentration decreases, followed by the appearance of new emission at 380 nm. These results are interpreted in terms of ESIPT coupled charge transfer in AS. Being consistent with these steady-state spectroscopic results, the picosecond time-resolved fluorescence study unravelled the decay dynamics of the ESIPT and ICT state ca. 300 ps and ca. 150 ps, respectively with ca. 40 ps for the relaxation time to form the ICT state.

  • Let X be a reduced closed subscheme in ${\mathbb{P}}^n$ and $${\pi}_q:X{\rightarrow}Y={\pi}_q(X){\subset}{\mathbb{P}}^{n-1}$$ be an isomorphic projection from the center $q{\in}{\mathbb{P}}^n{\backslash}X$. Suppose that the minimal free presentation of $I_X$ is of the following form $$R(-3)^{{\beta}2,1}{\oplus}R(-4){\rightarrow}R(-2)^{{\beta}1,1}{\rightarrow}I_X{\rightarrow}0$$. In this paper, we prove that $H^1(I_X(k))=H^1(I_Y(k))$ for all $k{\geq}3$. This implies that Y is k-normal if and only if X is k-normal for $k{\geq}3$. Moreover, we also prove that reg(Y) ${\leq}$ max{reg(X), 4} and that $I_Y$ is generated by homogeneous polynomials of degree ${\leq}4$.
