  • This paper presents a new approach to explicityly use surface normal images (SNIs) in 3-D object model description and recognition procedure. The surface normal images of an object are defined as the projected images obtained from view angles facing normal to each surface of the object. The proposed approach can significantly alleviate the difficulty of obtaining correspondence between models and scene objects by explicitly providing a transform for the matching. The proposed approach is applied to the construction of a model-based 3-D object recognition system for the selected five objects. Synthetic images are used in the experiment to show the operation of the overall recognition system.

  • Using good properties of an optimal normal basis of type I in a finite field ${\mathbb{F}}_{2^m}$, we present a design of a bit serial multiplier of Berlekamp type, which is very effective in computing $xy^2$. It is shown that our multiplier does not need a basis conversion process and a squaring operation is a simple permutation in our basis. Therefore our multiplier provides a fast and an efficient hardware architecture for a bit serial multiplication of two elements in ${\mathbb{F}}_{2^m}$.

  • It has been contributed to public health that the hospital has multiplied in the aspect of number and has been a large size with development of modern medical science, meanwhile the problem of hospital infection is coming out seriously. Respiratory hospital infection among hospital infections develops, very commonly from patients having taken the operation of intubation or tracheostomy, which results from a big factor that the infection developed from medical appliances used for respiration aids, contamination of solution and infection of medical staff. This study is separated into four steps-the time to use normal saline and distillation water for storaging catheter which are the cause of the infection of solution to store distillation water and catheter, not to say the catheter used when the patient who should get tracheostomy operation takes suction. The purpose of this study is to offer the basic data which are needed to check contamination degree as time goes by and nurse intervention and grope for a new nursing intervention. The target of this study is hospitalized 1D an intensive care unit having 700 sickbeds which is located in IKSAN city and it targeted patients before 7 days passed after an operaion of a tracheostormy. Materials collected were analyzed by SPSS PC+ figures program. The result of this study were as follows ; 1. The gradual contamination levels of the normal saline used In suction are showing that colony increase in proportion to the length of time. 2. while colony increases in normal saline with the lapse of time. distillation water mixed with 5cc of potadine did not show any sign of the formation of colony from its preparation until it was used for 8 hours. 3. Such variables as the period of intubation insertion. the length of hospitalization in I.C.U. the age and the level of contamination of normal saline have no inter-relationship. Therefore. as the length of normal saline used In suction. the contamination level increases with the excelleration of the contamination speed. 4. Regarding the number of suction and the contamination level of the normal saline. We can observe correlation contamination level in the 3 step of suction(mean value:13.4) and the saline which was used for one hours(r=0.702. P=0.00l). four hours(r=0.694. P=0.00l). eight hours(r=0.488. P=0.029). Further we can observe contamination in the 4 step of suction (mean value: 17 .8) well as saline used for eight hours; [for one hours (r=0.64l. P=0.002). four hours (r=0.670. P=0.00l). eight hours (r=0.57 4. P=0.008)]. Thesedays clinics use normal saline by changing it. three times a day. however. the timing of saline change and the current suction methoed should be changed given the one hour used normal saline contamination number 79.850. Regarding the number of suction and the contamination lend of the normal saline.

  • Purpose: The zygoma (Zygomaticomaxillary) complexes make up a large portion of the orbital floor and lateral orbital walls. Zygoma fracture frequently causes the posteromedial displacement of bone fragments, and the collapse or overlapping of internal orbital walls. This process consequently can lead to the orbital volume change. The reduction of zygoma in an anterolateral direction may influence on the potential bone defect area of the internal orbital walls. Thus we performed the quantitative analysis of orbital volume change in zygoma fracture before and after operation. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of preoperative and postoperative three-dimensional computed tomography scans in 39 patients with zygoma fractures who had not carried out orbital wall reconstruction. Orbital volume measurement was obtained through Aquarius Ver. 4.3.6 program and we compared the orbital volume change of injured orbit with that of the normal contralateral orbit. Results: The average orbital volume of normal orbit was 19.68 $cm^3$. Before the operation, the average orbital volume of injured orbit was 18.42 $cm^3$. The difference of the orbital volume between the injured orbit and the normal orbit was 1.18 $cm^3$ (6.01%) on average. After operation, the average orbital volume of injured orbit was 20.81 $cm^3$. The difference of the orbital volume between the injured orbit and the normal orbit was 1.17 $cm^3$ (5.92%) on average. Conclusion: There are considerable volume changes in zygoma fracture which did not accompany internal orbital wall fracture before and after operation. Our study reflects the change of bony frame, also that of all parts of the orbital wall, in addition to the bony defect area of orbital floor, in an isolated zygoma fracture so that it evaluates orbital volume change more accurately. Thus, the measurement of orbital volume in isolated zygoma fractures helps predict the degree of enophthalmos and decide a surgical plan.

  • To provide a operation rule curve for reservoir with low ratio of watershed area to paddy field area, Duckyong reservoir with watershed area of $15.8km^2$ and paddy field area of 1,071ha was selected, in which 4 meters are being heightened and full water levels will be increased from EL.26.0m to EL.30.0m, total water storages from 365.6M $m^3$ to 708.0M $m^3$. There was no operation rule curve that satisfied over 90% reliability of water supply in reservoir with watershed area of 1.48 times of paddy field area. The differences between observed and simulated reservoir daily water storages were minimized to determine parameters for simulating reservoir inflow in case of paddy field area of 550ha from 1991 to 2010. A operation rule curve was drawn to have a maximum storage with total water storage, which was in paddy field area of 700ha with ratio of 2.3 between watershed area and paddy field area. This case showed that annual irrigation water supply was 668M $m^3$ and instream flow of 57M $m^3$, water supply reliability of 55.6% in normal operation, and annual irrigation water supply was 605M $m^3$ and instream flow of 38M $m^3$, water supply reliability of 95.6% in withdrawal limited operation. Water supply reliabilities showed 35.6% without flood regulation and 17.8% with flood regulation in existing reservoir before heightening.

  • This paper proposes a fault-tolerant control strategy with finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) based on hierarchical optimization for five-level H-bridge neutral-point-clamped (5L-HNPC) inverter-fed induction motor drives. Fault-tolerant operation is analyzed, and the fault-tolerant control algorithm is improved. Adopting FCS-MPC based on hierarchical optimization, where the voltage is used as the controlled objective, called model predictive voltage control (MPVC), the postfault controller is simplified as a two layer control. The first layer is the voltage jump limit, and the second layer is the voltage following control, which adopts the optimal control strategy to ensure the current following performance and uniqueness of the optimal solution. Finally, simulation and experimental results verify that 5L-HNPC inverter-fed induction motor drives have strong fault tolerant capability and that the FCS-MPVC based on hierarchical optimization is feasible.

  • The high operation frequency mainly reduces transformer volume in the power supply. A high frequency and high voltage pulse transformer is designed, fabricated, and tested. Switching frequency of the transformer is 100 kHz. Input and output voltages of the transformer are 250 V and 4 kV, respectively. Normal operation power of the transformer is 3 kW. Maximum volume of the transformer is 400 $cm^3$. The power density is thus 7.5 W/$cm^3$. The transformer will be installed in a metal box that has nominal operation temperature of 85 degree centigrade. The transformer and other high voltage components in the box will be molded with Silicon RTV(Room Temperature Vulcaniza) that has a very low thermal conductivity. Procedure of design and test results are discussed. Analytical as well as experimental results of varous paramters such as transformer loss, leakage inductance, distributed capacitance are also discussed. In addition, thermal analysis results from ANSYS code for three different operation conditions are discussed.
