Effects of Venesection at the Sybsun-points on Blood Pressure and Body Temperature in Patients with Stroke (중풍환자에 있어 십선용사혈이 혈압 및 체온에 미치는 영향)

  • Background and Purpose: Sybsun-points are located at the tips of all fingers, 0.1chon from the finger nails, totaling 10 points on both hands. These points have been used for emergency care, fainting, epilepsy, cerebrovascular accidents, hypertension, unconsciousness, high fever etc. The most common technique is bleeding with a needle at these points. Hypertension and fever are the main factors for stroke patients’progress. We investigated whether venesection at Sybsun-points has effects on blood pressure and body temperature in stroke patients. Materials and Methods: 79 stroke patients were enrolled in this study from 1 Jan. 1999 to 30 Sep. 1999. All of them were admitted in Kyunghee University, Hospital of Oriental Medicine. Among them, 62 patients were hypertensive people, 17 were normal. Among the hypertensive patients, 27 were stage 1,20 were stage 2, 15 were stage 3 by classification of JNC 1997. All of the hypertensive patients had been taking drugs, while the normal group did not. From 2pm to 3pm, every 30 minutes we checked patients' blood pressure and body temperature by 24ABPM and tympanic thermometer. After 30 minutes passed, we phlebotomized patients Sybsun-points with Samneung needle 2-3cc of blood. Right after the bleeding, we checked blood pressure and body temperature. After the bleeding, for the next hour and a half, we checked each patient’s blood pressure and body temperature every thirty minutes, or a total of three times. We compared the blood pressure and the body temperature before and after treatment(p<0.05). Results: 1. Venesection at Sybsun-points significantly decreased systolic blood pressure on stage 3 hypertensive patients(p<0.0l). 2. Venesection at Sybsun-points significantly decreased diastolic blood pressure on stage 3 hypertensive patients(p<0.05) 3. Venesection at Sybsun-points had no effect on the change of body temperature. Conclusions: Though further study is needed, our findings suggest that Venesection at Sybsun-points may alleviate hypertension in stroke patients.

Electrodermal Responses in Patients with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder by Motor Vehicle Accidents ; a Pilot Study (교통사고에 의한 외상 후 스트레스장애 환자의 피부 전기반응 : 예비 연구)

  • Objective : In the present study, we evaluated the differences between the skin electric conductance of patients with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and normal controls in order to determine the possibility of using skin electric conductance as a diagnostic measure. Method : The PTSD group included 14 subjects who were diagnosed with PTSD in St. Mary's Hospital after a motor vehicle accident, and the normal control group included 12 healthy subjects. The conductivity and capacitance of both groups were measured twice, and the data from each group was compared. Results : There was no significant difference in gender, but the patients in the PTSD group were significantly older than those in normal control group. The activity (conductivity) between the left head-left hand, right hand-right head, and right head-left head was significantly elevated in the PTSD group as compared with the normal control group. In addition, the reactivity (capacitance) between the right head-left head, left head-left hand, right hand-left hand, right hand-right foot, right foot-left foot, and left foot-left hand was significantly elevated in the PTSD group. Conclusion : In this study, the skin electric conductance of the patients with PTSD was significantly elevated in comparison with that of the healthy subjects. Although there were some limitations of this study, the results of this study suggested that skin electric conductance can be used to evaluate elevated psychophysiological responses in patients with PTSD. Future studies with more subjects and more structure are needed in order to confirm our results.

A Generation and Matching Method of Normal-Transient Dictionary for Realtime Topic Detection (실시간 이슈 탐지를 위한 일반-급상승 단어사전 생성 및 매칭 기법)

  • Recently, the number of SNS user has rapidly increased due to smart device industry development and also the amount of generated data is exponentially increasing. In the twitter, Text data generated by user is a key issue to research because it involves events, accidents, reputations of products, and brand images. Twitter has become a channel for users to receive and exchange information. An important characteristic of Twitter is its realtime. Earthquakes, floods and suicides event among the various events should be analyzed rapidly for immediately applying to events. It is necessary to collect tweets related to the event in order to analyze the events. But it is difficult to find all tweets related to the event using normal keywords. In order to solve such a mentioned above, this paper proposes A Generation and Matching Method of Normal-Transient Dictionary for realtime topic detection. Normal dictionaries consist of general keywords(event: suicide-death-loop, death, die, hang oneself, etc) related to events. Whereas transient dictionaries consist of transient keywords(event: suicide-names and information of celebrities, information of social issues) related to events. Experimental results show that matching method using two dictionary finds more tweets related to the event than a simple keyword search.

A Study of a Dike Design Considering a Leakage Velocity at an Opening Hole in Case of a Leakage Accident (누출사고 시 저장탱크 위험물 누출속도를 고려한 방유제 설계에 관한 연구)

  • Chemical accidents generated during maintenance, repair, and normal operation, such as dispersion, fire, and explosions, can cause massive losses like a 2012 hydro fluorine leak in Gumi, South Korea. Since this accident, many researches have studied physical mitigation systems. However, due to many difficulties including potential costs and lack time, it is really hard for many companies to install mitigation systems without prior knowledge. Thus, the efficacy of mitigation system should be evaluated. This study assesses a dike design considering the fluid velocity at an open hole when a leakage accident occurs. It is assumed that leakage materials follow a free fall motion. Throughout case studies, a current KOSHA guide for a dike design was evaluated and new guidelines handling various conditions were proposed.

A Study on the Effective Method of Fire Safety Management of Geriatric Hospitals (요양병원 소방안전관리의 효율화 방안에 관한 연구)

  • Currently many geriatric hospitals have been built in Korea because increasing aging rapidly. However the increasing geriatric hospitals make the increasing safety accidents. Therefore this study is conducted by survey and face-to-face talk with the fire safety managers for analyzing safety problem of geriatric hospitals which number is twelve among 15 geriatric hospitals in the north of Chung-buk area. The result of this study is that geriatric hospitals are very old. Fire safety managers holding the fire safety license are a level 2 issued by the Korea Fire Safety Association(KFSA). And the fire safety inspection ability of them is normal (58%). Furthermore a fire safety budget ratio is 83% (A little) in the company yearly budget. And ratio having the fire inspection equipment in the building is 42% (A little) and 33% (Nothing). Satisfaction ratio of their duty is 66% and they also get stress from heavy duty and heavy responsibility. In conclusion, CEO needs to invest and interest the improvement of job performance, satisfaction ratio and fire safety facility. Also government needs the improvement of system to support and supervise the fire safety of geriatric hospitals consistently.

  • Abnormal navigating ships affact the ships navigating normal routes seriously. So VTS centers and Korean Coast Guard co-work(cooperate) closely to trace the ships which break the regulations and make accidents. But it is evident that there is limitations to indetify the risk factors caused by men. Unfortunately there is very few of the researches on the identificaton of risk elements by men. This paper is to implement the intelligent system for identifying abnormal navigating ships by using fuzzy inference.

  • This paper carried out a variety of analysis for a finding out the causes of fire on the street lamp. The glass bulb of 250W metal-halide(MH) lamps attached with the impurities rose the temperature by at $410.4^{\circ}$ in normal condition. Therefore, a lamp apparatus is needed the improvement for ventilation and the protection against dust. The heat of MH lamps is diffused through out the luminous tube, a glass bulb, and apparatus by degrees. The accident cause of the lamp is presumed that the accumulated heat by deposits of the inner part. It will be recommended the improvement of the structure that aren't the external impurity and accumulated heat in the MH lamps set.

Machine Learning based Speech Disorder Detection System (기계학습 기반의 장애 음성 검출 시스템)

  • This paper deals with the implementation of speech disorder detection system based on machine learning classification. Problems with speech are a common early symptom of a stroke or other brain injuries. Therefore, detection of speech disorder may lead to correction and fast medical treatment of strokes or cerebrovascular accidents. The speech disorder system can be implemented by extracting features from the input speech and classifying the features using machine learning algorithms. Ten machine learning algorithms with various scaling methods were used to discriminate speech disorder from normal speech. The detection system was evaluated by the TORGO database which contains dysarthric speech collected from speakers with either cerebral palsy or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

  • Internet of Things (IoT) services are widely used in appliances of daily life and industries. IoT services also provide various conveniences to users and are expected to affect value added of all industries and national competitiveness. However, a variety of security threats are increased in IoT environments and lowers reliability of IoT devices and services that make some obstacles for commercialization. The attacks arising in IoT environments are making industrial and normal life accidents unlike existing information leak and monetary damages, and can expand damage scale of leakage of personal information and privacy more than existing them. To solve these problems, we design a session key based access control scheme for secure communications in IoT environments. The proposed scheme reinforces message security by generating session key between device and access control network system. We analyzed the stability of the proposed access scheme in terms of data forgery and corruption, unauthorized access, information disclosure, privacy violations, and denial of service attacks. And we also evaluated the proposed scheme in terms of permission settings, privacy indemnity, data confidentiality and integrity, authentication, and access control.
