Simply, Nonlinear dynamics theory means the complicated and noise-like phenomena originated form nonlinearity involved in deterministic dynamical system. An almost all the natural signals have nonlinear property. However, there exist few analysis software tool or package for a research and development of applications. We develop nonlinear time series analysis simulator is to provide a common and useful tool for this purpose and to promote research and development of nonlinear dynamics theory. This simulator is consists of the following four modules such as generation module, preprocessing module, analysis module and ICA module. In this paper, we applied to Electroencephalograph (EEG), as it turned out, our simulator is able to analyze nonlinear time series. Besides, we could get the useful results using the various parameters. These results are used to diagnostic the brain diseases.
Two-stage Power-Factor-Correction (PFC) converters are the most common circuits for drawing sinusoidal and in phase current waveforms from an ac source with a good regulated output voltage. The first stage is a boost PFC converter with average-current-mode control for achieving the near-unity power factor and the second stage is a forward converter with voltage-mode control to regulate the output voltage. Stability analysis and design methods of two-stage PFC converters have previously been discussed using linear models. Recently, new nonlinear phenomena have been detected in pre-regulator boost PFC circuits and a new nonlinear model has been proposed for pre-regulated PFC converters. Therefore, investigation of two-stage PFC converters from the nonlinear viewpoint becomes important because the second stage DC/DC converter adds more complexity to the circuit. So, this paper introduces a study of the stability of two-stage PFC converters. A novel nonlinear model of two-stage PFC converters is proposed. Then, a stability analysis is made based upon this nonlinear model. The high correspondence between the simulated and experimental results confirms our analysis.
This paper discusses a design of a nonlinear control for a class of single-input double-output nonlinear mechanical systems. When conventional linearization methods are applied to the mechanical systems, some problems of oscillation and unstable phenomena arise. The proposed nonlinear control system resolves these problems. In this design the eigenvalues of the closed-loop nonlinear system are assigned to desired locations and local asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system. is guaranteed. The design method is applied to an inverted pendulum system with a moving weight mechanism. Experimental results show that the proposed nonlinear controller is more effective for stability than the usual linear controller.

The nonlinear damping force model is made to identify the properties of the ER (electro-rheological) fluid suspension damper. The instrumentation is carried out to measure the damping force of the ER damper. The higher order spectral analysis method is used to investigate the nonlinear frequency coupling phenomena with the damping force signal according to the sinusoidal excitation of the damper. The distinctive higher order nonlinear characteristics are observed. The nonlinear damping force model, which has the higher order velocity terms, is proposed with the result of higher order spectrum analysis. The higher order terms coefficients, which vary according to the strength of the electric field, are calculated using the least square method.

This study presents nonlinear vibration of a cantilever beam subjected to electromagnetic forces. The dynamic responses of the beam show various nonlinear phenomena with the variation of the system parameters, such as the jump phenomenon, multiple solutions, and the movement of the natural frequency. In this study the nonlinear stiffness due to electromagnetic forces which depends on air gap size is measured experimentally, and the system is modeled by a single degree of freedom nonlinear dynamic system and solutions are solved numerically. The numerical results show good agreements with the experimental results, which demonstrate the nonlinearity of electromagnetic force. Finally the occurrences of the jump phenomenon and the first, second and fourth harmonic components are confirmed in using the method of multiple scales.

This paper analyzes the running mechanism of flexible and thin foil above rotating protrusion through a numerical simulation. The scope of analysis is confined to the phenomena of elastohy-drodynamic lubrication between the stationary and rotary drums with a running protrusion and thin foil. This mathematical model is based on the modified Reynolds equation and the equation of plate, considering the geometry of protrusion, running direction of protrusion, and the effect of geometric nonlinearity. Finite element method is adopted as a numerical simulation technique to solve the avobe coupled nonlinear equations. In numerical analysis, the effects of the scanning angle in Reynolds equation and the nonlinear term in plate equation are evaluated. Furthermore, the simulation is applied to the situation that thin foil is located in the entire drums (stationary and rotary drums).
A prediction method of conditional event matching pre-diction (EMP) for a purpose of predicting nonlinear phenomena of insulator pollution was proposed in this paper. The EMP was used if the conditional probability for increase of insulator pollution exceeded a threshold value. A performance of the EMP was strongly related to selection of database of events and a closeness function. By use of the prediction of the insulator pollution based on the conditional EMP, reliable decision making for the washing timing of the polluted insulators was e-valuated based on actual data in Kasatsu substation, Japan.
This paper is proposed a new linear actuator with the permanent magnet on the mover. This linear actuator is designed to produce the vibration of a osillator. In order to evaluate its dynamic performance, the equivalent coupling parameter between mechanical and electromagnetic equations of the linear actustor, which is considered the magnetic nonlinear phenomena, is analyzed by the finite element method and estimated the thrust, displacement and acceleration with the simualation values and the experimenta ones.

This paper presents a novel smart MEMS accelerometer which employs a hybrid control algorithm and an estimator. This scheme is realized by adding a sliding-mode controller to a conventional PID closed loop system to achieve higher stability and higher dynamic range and to prevent pull-in phenomena by preventing finger displacement from passing a maximum preset value as well as adding an adaptive nonlinear observer to a conventional PID closed loop system. This estimator is used for online estimation of the parameter variations for MEMS accelerometers and gives the capability of self testing to the system. The analysis of convergence and resolution show that while the proposed control scheme satisfies these criteria it also keeps resolution performance better than what is normally obtained in conventional PID controllers. The performance of the proposed hybrid controller investigated here is validated by computer simulation.

The fluid induced vibration (FIV) phenomena of a 2-D.O.F airfoil system have been investigated in low Reynolds number incompressible flow region. Unsteady flows with viscosity are computed using two-dimensional incompressible Navier-stokes code. To validate developed Navier-Stokes code, steady and unsteady flow fields around airfoil are analyzed. The present fluid/structure interaction analysis is based on the most accurate computational approach with computational fluid dynamics (CSD) and computational structural dynamics (CSD) techniques. The highly nonlinear fluid/structure interaction phenomena due to severe flow separations have been analyzed fur the low Reynolds region (R$_{N}$ =500~5000) that has a dominancy of flow viscosity. The effect of R$_{N}$ on the fluid/structure coupled vibration instability of 2-DOF airfoil system is presented and the effect of initial angle of attack on the dynamic instability are also shown.own.
