Wearable sensors designed for strain, pressure, and temperature measurements are essential for monitoring human movements, health status, physiological data, and responses to external stimuli. Notably, recent research has led to the development of high-performance wearable sensors using innovative materials and device structures that exhibit ultra-high sensitivity compared with their commercial counterparts. However, the quest for accurate sensing has identified a critical challenge. Specifically, the mechanical flexibility of the substrates in wearable sensors can introduce interference signals, particularly when subjected to varying external stimuli and environmental conditions, potentially resulting in signal crosstalk and compromised data fidelity. Consequently, the pursuit of non-interference sensing technology is pivotal for enabling independent measurements of concurrent input signals related to strain, pressure, and temperature, ensuring precise signal acquisition. In this comprehensive review, we present an overview of the recent advances in noninterference sensing strategies. We explore various fabrication methods for sensing strain, pressure, and temperature, emphasizing the use of hybrid composite materials with distinct mechanical properties. This review contributes to the understanding of critical developments in wearable sensor technology that are vital for their ongoing application and evolution in numerous fields.

Cognitive radio (CR) users, known as secondary users (SUs), should avoid interference with primary users (PUs) who own the licensed band, while trying to access it; when the licensed band is unused by the PUs. To detect PUs, spectrum sensing should be performed over in-band channels that are currently in use by SUs. If PUs return to access the band, SUs need to vacate it, disrupting the SUs' communication unless a non-utilized band is discovered. Obtaining a non-utilized band in a short period facilitate seamless communication for SUs and avoid interference on PUs by vacating from the channel immediately. Searching for a non-utilized band can be done through proactive out-of-band (OB) sensing. In this paper, we suggest a proactive OB sensing scheme that minimizes the time required to discover a non-utilized spectrum in order to continue communication. Although, the duration spent on OB sensing reduces the throughput of the CR networks that can be achieved on band being utilized, the lost throughput can be compensated in the new discovered band. We demonstrate that, the effect of our proposed scheme on the throughput owing to OB sensing is insignificant, while exhibiting a very short channel discovery time.

Interference can cause serious problems in our daily life. Traditional ways in localizing a target can't work well when it comes to the source of interference for it may take an uncooperative or even resistant attitude towards localization. To tackle this issue, we take the BPSN (Binary Proximity Sensor Networks) and consider a passive way in this paper. No cooperation is needed and it is based on simple sensor node suitable for large-scale deployment. By dividing the sensing field into different patches, when enough patches are formed, good localization accuracy can be achieved with high resolution. Then we analyze the relationship between sensing radius and localization error, we find that in a finite region where edge effect can't be ignored, the trend between sensing radius and localization error is not always consistent. Through theoretical analysis and simulation, we explore to determine the best sensing radius to achieve high localization accuracy.
In this article, we suggest a two-dimensional genetic algorithm (GA) method that applies a cognitive radio (CR) decision engine which determines the optimal transmission parameters for multicarrier communication systems. Because a CR is capable of sensing the previous environmental communication information, CR decision engine plays the role of optimizing the individual transmission parameters. In order to obtain the allowable transmission power of multicarrier based CR system demands interference analysis a priori, for the sake of efficient optimization, a two-dimensionalGA structure is proposed in this paper which enhances the computational complexity. Combined with the fitness objective evaluation standard, we focus on two multi-objective optimization methods: The conventional GA applied with the multi-objective fitness approach and the non-dominated sorting GA with Pareto-optimal sorting fronts. After comparing the convergence performance of these algorithms, the transmission power of each subcarrier is proposed as non-interference emission with its optimal values in multicarrier based CR system.

In the interweave cognitive networks, the interference from the primary user degrades the performance of the cognitive user transmissions. In this paper, we propose an adaptive cooperation scheme in the interweave cognitive networks to improve the performance of the cognitive user transmissions. In the proposed scheme for the bidirectional communication of two end-source cognitive users, the bidirectional communication is completed through the non-relay direct transmission, the one-way relaying cooperation transmission, and the two-way relaying cooperation transmission depending on the limited feedback from the end-sources. For the performance analysis of the proposed scheme, we derive the outage probability and the finite-SNR diversity multiplexing tradeoff (f-DMT) in a closed form, considering the imperfect spectrum sensing, the interference from the primary user, and the power allocation between the relay and the end-sources. The results show that compared with the direct transmissions (DT), the pure one-way relaying transmissions (POWRT), and the pure two-way relaying transmissions (PTWRT), the proposed scheme has better outage performance. In terms of the f-DMT, the proposed scheme outperforms the full cooperation transmissions of the POWRT and PTWRT.

Cognitive radio (CR) technology is to maximize the spectrum utilization by allocating the unused spectrums to the unlicensed users. This technology enables the sharing of channels among secondary (unlicensed) and primary (licensed) users on a non-interference basis after sensing the vacant channel and as a result, it is possible to harness wireless frequency more efficiently. To enhance the accuracy of sensing, RDSS was suggested. It is a fusion mechanism based on the reputation of sensing nodes and WSPRT (weighted sequential probability ratio test). However, in RDSS, the execution number of WSPRT could increase according to the order of inputted sensing values, and the fast defense against the forged values is difficult. In this paper, we propose a transaction signing-based authentication scheme for secure distributed spectrum sensing to response the forged values. The validity of proposed scheme is provided by BAN logic.

This study explores the use of the recently developed "strain-sensing smart skin" (S4) method for noncontact strain measurements on cement-based samples. S4 sensors are single-wall carbon nanotubes dilutely embedded in thin polymer films. Strains transmitted to the nanotubes cause systematic shifts in their near-infrared fluorescence spectra, which are analyzed to deduce local strain values. It is found that with cement-based materials, this method is hampered by spectral interference from structured near-infrared cement luminescence. However, application of an opaque blocking layer between the specimen surface and the nanotube sensing film enables interference-free strain measurements. Tests were performed on cement, mortar, and concrete specimens with such modified S4 coatings. When specimens were subjected to uniaxial compressive stress, the spectral peak separations varied linearly and predictably with induced strain. These results demonstrate that S4 is a promising emerging technology for measuring strains down to ca. 30 𝜇𝜀 in concrete structures.

In this paper, we propose an algorithm to conserve resources of the common control channel in a cognitive radio network by rejecting the redundant users using cooperative spectrum sensing. The proposed scheme is investigated under the paradigm of active spectrum sensing and a sequential detection technique. The algorithm is based on the J-divergence between the hypotheses of non primary user operation and the otherwise case. We select the most significant eigenvalues, which primarily affect the global statistical test. For the case where interference is from a secondary system transmission, a match filter is first employed to remove the degradation, and then the proposed algorithm is employed to remove the cooperative sensing nodes. Numerical results are provided and compared with conventional cases in order to validate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

Non-uniform optical taper waveguides have been widely used as devices for high-efficiency mode coupling, as they are integrated with single-mode optical fibers or photonic crystal waveguides. In this paper, we present a new platform for chemical sensing and bio-sensing using optical taper waveguides with these characteristics. The principle of operation is based on the coupling efficiency and interference properties of optical directional coupler (DC) and multi-mode interference coupler (MMIC). First, the curvature characteristics of taper sections of DC and MMIC is explained, and the design specifications of optimized taper waveguide to increase waveguide sensitivity is selected. Next, the sensor response to the change in refractive index of sensing analyte is numerically analyzed. Numerical results show that as the length of couplers increases, the effective index per change in refractive index unit (RIU) of analyte increases, and that sensitivity can be tuned using taper DC and MMIC design techniques.

Cognitive Radio, which adaptively utilizes the vacant licensed spectrum band, is considered as an effective way to alleviate the scarcity of spectrum resource shortage. In order to guarantee the non-interference transmission of primary system, spectrum sensing, especially in quiet period, is proposed. However, it is insufficient to avoid the unacceptable interference caused by Cognitive Radios, because the primary user may appear anytime that is unpredictable. In this paper, we address the deficiency of conventional spectrum sensing and propose a novel Cognitive Radio receiver structure with monitoring function block to detect the appearance of primary user in a real-time manner. Simulations prove that the proposed eigenvalue based detection method together with the two-threshold decision procedure performs properly.
