Background: The purpose of this study is to investigate family caregivers' opinions about out-of-pocket payment for long-term care (LTC) facilities, and find the differences in the opinions for family caregivers of all different levels of income. Methods: We used the data of the study on out-of-pocket payment in national long-term care insurance, including 1,552 family caregivers with the elderly in long-term care facilities. Results: The average out-of-pocket payment per month was 511,635 Korean won and distributed from 230,750 to 1,365,570 Korean won. The amount of out-of-pocket payment might be affected by not co-payment but the cost of non-covered service. There were differences in them for family caregivers of all different levels of income. Opinions were surveyed about 5 issues. By levels of income, there were differences in their opinions about 3 issues, the financial burden on LTC, the necessity of reducing out-of-pocket payments, and to be willing to pay more for a high quality service. But there were not different opinions about the interruption of LTC service and staying with LTC facilities. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the range of out-of-pocket payment for LTC facility is wide and it can be a burden to lower income group. It should be to prepare the policies to ease the financial burden and support the appropriate LTC use.
This study investigated the influence of the quality of a business management consulting service and the mediating effect of utilizing a business management consulting service. For this purpose, data was collected from 200 self-employed workers of the Moonchang market in Dasejun, the Yongdap market in Seoul and the Jatgeoeul market in Gapyeong. The result of the study are as follows. First, it was found that the quality of interaction, the quality of the result and the quality of the physical environment have significant influences over peoples' financial aptitude. Second, it was found that the quality of the interaction, the quality of the result and the quality of the physical environment have significant influences over peoples' non-financial aptitudes. Thirds, the evaluation of a mediating effect of utilization of a business management consulting service on the relationship between the quality of a business management consulting service and business performance showed that it has a significant influence in all ways and so this, proved its mediating effect. Therefor, as one of the means to activate traditional markets in Korea, it would be beneficial to actively introduce a business management consulting service and this would achieve a better performance through efforts to change the perception of employees and consultants about post-management of business management consulting services.
Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system application is expanded to food chain from farm to table to supply safe livestock products with consumers in Korea. The objectives of this study were to analyze the HACCP operating conditions in butcher shops and to suggest for better HACCP implementation. We analyzed the HACCP inspection reports for butcher shops implemented by the Korea Livestock Products HACCP Accreditation Service from 2007 to 2009 and from 2010 to 2012 to compare the rate of HACCP non-compliances. The overall rate of non-compliances was higher in 2010~2012 than 2007~2009. The current inadequate HACCP operating level was directly related with the business size. Ninety-nine percent of the butcher shops were very small business with under 10 employees in Korea, and these small-sized businesses usually had great difficulties in implementing HACCP due to lack of technical expertise and financial resources. To overcome the obstacles and to facilitate more effective HACCP application and operation in butcher shops, government should play a leading role in developing flexible and simplified HACCP-based system which merges both the pre-requisite and HACCP principles.
The study examines the effects that non-audit service and firm's ownership structure might have on the value relevance directly or indirectly. This investigation is based on prior research which suggests that the audit firms' non-audit services is likely to adversely affect investors' perceptions of the credibility of financial reporting and that corporate governance are likely to mitigate the adverse this kind of non-audit services effects. The sample consists of non-banking firms listed on the Korea Exchange that reported annual financial statements over the period from 2004 to 2008. In the setting, stock returns as proxy for capital market response, auditor quality(measured as the discretionary accruals) is endogenously determined. This study employs a structural equation model to take into account the endogenous variables under study. The analysis influences through the path analysis that ownership structure suppress the market response through audit quality and also the non-audit service have influence on the market response through audit quality. The results of this study contribute to the literature in the following ways. First, this provides direct evidence that there is a negative association between audit firms' client importance and the value relevance. Second, the findings that the negative association is attenuated for audit quality support the findings of prior studies which present that corporate governance provide higher credibility of financial reports.

In 2018, the real estate markets have hardly been transacted according to the government's tight regulations of real estates, and have the high possibility to reach a low hit due to the hike of loan interest rates following the U. S rise of base money rate. The key profits for the large construction companies mainly come from the overseas plant projects and the domestic non-governmental construction projects. They suffered a lot such as the lowering of their credit ratings due to the large losses caused by the frquent design changes and work delay. Even in the domestic non-governmental construction projects, the general business risks are on the rise due to the property marketing moving over to the decreasing phase. The small and medium sized security companies has realized a lot of operaring profits as they participated in the PF market to make up for the losses in the securities trading business. But, now as the housing market is not so good around the nation except Seoul and the financial states of large construction companies are not good enough, they can face the liquidity crisis if there happens the problems in the PF backed securities which they have handled. As Korean economy experienced the crisis in the savings banks before, it is recommended that Financial Supervisory Service proposes the preemptive control method and supervision direction to overcome the crisis.
The market for a payday advance, regarded as both a convenient and short term-loan for immediate financial help, has grown incredibly since the 1990's. Despite its popularity by borrowers and the possible benefits, it has received negative publicity. Some borrowers have been caught in a debt trap for a long-term period and at tripledigit interest rates. The objective of this study is to shed light on the borrowers' profiles and their demand for a payday advance. Based on the 2010 household level data from the U.S. Federal Reserve Board, this study finds that payday advance users are pronounced as seemingly risky people. Payday advance users tend to be college drop-outs, African Americans, and non-homeowners compared to non-payday advance users. They are more likely to overspend above their income and have a favorable attitude toward conspicuous spending than non-payday advance users. They tend not to shop at all nor perform even moderate shopping for credit before using a payday advance service as opposed to non-payday advance users.
Purposes: We analyzed the profitability determinants of regional public hospitals during the entire period between 2010 and 2020 and the period before and after COVID-19. We intended to provide fundamental data for developing publicness evaluation index and task of establishing and expanding regional public hospitals. Methodology: The financial and non-financial information of the regional public hospitals were used as the main analysis data; The financial data was established by the Center for Public Healthcare Policy of National Medical Center, and the non-financial data by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service. T-test and regression analysis were used. Findings: The results can be summarized in two. First, the main determinants of profitability of the regional public hospitals were appeared to be the total asset turnover rate and the labor cost rate. Second, during the COVID-19 pandemic in the regional public hospitals, the number of sickbeds, the number of isolation rooms, the total asset turnover rate and the labor cost rate appeared to be the factor worsening the profitability. Practical Implication: The results of this study suggests that the management of the regional public hospitals is not aiming for the profit making, but it performs the functions as the community healthcare safety net such as controlling infectious diseases.
Service orientation and customer orientation are recognized as important success factors in service companies. However, these constructs are evaluated through self-diagnosis within the service company based on service delivery experience. For this reason, Fintech companies that provide financial services based on non-face-to-face channels such as mobile APP have limitations in evaluating their service orientation and customer orientation. Therefore, in this study, the perceived customer orientation is conceptualized so that service orientation and customer orientation can be evaluated through customer evaluation. In addition, the antecedents and consequences of the perceived customer orientation based on the technology acceptance model were demonstrated. As a result, it was confirmed the mediating effect of perceived customer orientation in the relationship between perceived ease of use and usefulness and customer's continuous use intention and word of mouth intention. This study laid the foundation for the Fintech companies that provide all financial services throughout non-face-to-face to measure their service orientation and customer orientation through customer evaluation and utilize them in establishing service operation strategies.
With the spread of Artificial Intelligence (AI), various AI-based services are expanding in the financial sector such as service recommendation, automated customer response, fraud detection system(FDS), credit scoring services, etc. At the same time, problems related to reliability and unexpected social controversy are also occurring due to the nature of data-based machine learning. The need Based on this background, this study aimed to contribute to improving trust in AI-based financial services by proposing a checklist to secure fairness in AI-based credit scoring services which directly affects consumers' financial life. Among the key elements of trustworthy AI like transparency, safety, accountability, and fairness, fairness was selected as the subject of the study so that everyone could enjoy the benefits of automated algorithms from the perspective of inclusive finance without social discrimination. We divided the entire fairness related operation process into three areas like data, algorithms, and user areas through literature research. For each area, we constructed four detailed considerations for evaluation resulting in 12 checklists. The relative importance and priority of the categories were evaluated through the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). We use three different groups: financial field workers, artificial intelligence field workers, and general users which represent entire financial stakeholders. According to the importance of each stakeholder, three groups were classified and analyzed, and from a practical perspective, specific checks such as feasibility verification for using learning data and non-financial information and monitoring new inflow data were identified. Moreover, financial consumers in general were found to be highly considerate of the accuracy of result analysis and bias checks. We expect this result could contribute to the design and operation of fair AI-based financial services.
Purpose - Recently, the importance of rapid change in business models is more and more increasing as the change of information technology environment. Therefore, a variety of business models have emerged. On the other hand, there is no company that can generate revenue. Many enterprises are still maintained while they are changing only their appearance of the business model. Business model is important in e-commerce. However, a lot of researches are targeted only in Web sites. Thus, e-commerce companies do not have the infrastructure for measuring and business models. The purpose of paper is to evaluate factors which are related with the structuring of the e-commerce success. And it proposed a financial items and non-financial items. From the perspectives of administrators and managers, the paper researches the possibility for E-Commerce Evaluation Model as a valuable criteria in measuring business model. Research design, data and methodology - The methods are taken by the classification for the type of business-to-business transactions, transactions subject, and the degree of integration and innovation capabilities. Financial and Non-financial value is used to build E-Commerce Evaluation Model. Evaluation items in Administration's perspective are composed with enhance the effectiveness of the mission, improving efficiency of the administration, and control of costs. Evaluation items in the customer's perspective were measured by customer participation and cooperation with customer Satisfaction. In the case of researching the information system's perspective, three criteria are used such as adequacy of the development process, improvement of the quality of service, and maintenance of standardized information technology. In researching for the ICT competence's perspective, evaluation items were composed of enhanced user capabilities, utilizing new technologies, and empowerment of information workers. Results - In this paper, E-Commerce Evaluation Model with financial and non-financial perspectives shows the possibility to be criteria in the case of measuring business model. Moreover, it gives the positive expectation to be successful criteria. But the research may have ambiguity in its essential concept because it cannot avoid the limitation in selecting evaluation tools from merely the model. It is impossible to exclude the possibility in omitting specific properties which may take place in actual case study. Therefore, In hereafter research, it is necessary to include actual case study research in selecting evaluation tools in order to improve the limit point. Actual measurement items which are derived from actual case study should be subdivided, and it would be more effective to complete the research. Conclusions - In rapid change in business models, there are various kinds of business models. But it is general situation that companies which adopted business models have not brought in revenue. For this reason, E-Commerce Evaluation Model is needed as an important factor for the structuring of the e-commerce success. Although it has the limitation in selecting evaluation tools from model, E-Commerce Evaluation Model proposes the implication for measuring business models as a valuable criteria.
