  • In this paper, an internal GPS antenna for mobile phones is designed and fabricated. For the miniaturization of the antenna, high permittivity dielectric substrate((${\varepsilon}_r$=90) and small ground plane ($13mm{\times}13mm$) are used. To increase the receive gain, the antenna is composed with LNA(Low Noise Amplifier). Results of the manufactured antenna($13mm{\times}13mm{\times}8mm$) show that the maximum antenna gain is about 12 dBi, the axial ratio is less than 3 dB, and the current consumption of LNA is less than 4 mA.

  • This paper manufactured an active GPS antenna for ground vehicles and presented a method to verify the performances of the antenna and component technology of the low noise amplifier (LNA) board manufacturing. The manufactured GPS antenna is an active antenna where microstrip patch and LNA board were combined. The main performances were standing wave ratio, antenna gain, and axial ratio, and all satisfied the target specifications. The proposed component technology can be utilized as a basis data in which the performance of LNA board can be compensated in the mass production process inspection, and employed as a method to verify whether antennas are properly working in environmental tests.

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated wideband 3-axis isotropic antenna for the Electro-Magnetic Fields(EMFs) measurement. Each part of proposed 3-axis antenna has isotropic characteristics and arbitrary axis of proposed 3-axis antenna could be selectable using RF switch. Also, a resistor was inserted in each axis of proposed 3-axis antenna for improving antenna gain and noise suppression characteristics, and port impedance of each dipole antenna were matched by balun. For the performance verification of antenna, GTEM Cell which generates standard electromagnetic field was used for the derivation of antenna factor and receiver sensitivity. As a result, fabricated 3-axis isotropic antenna has receiver sensitivity of 0.12~4.2 mV/m and typical VSWR of 3.3:1 within a wide operation frequency range from 0.03 MHz to 3 GHz.

  • In this paper, we design a 2.4 GHz bio-radar system that can detect human heartbeat and respiration signals with small size and improved noise performance using single circular-polarized antenna and phase-locked loop. The demonstrated bio-radar system consists of single circular-polarized antenna with $90^{\circ}$ hybrid, low-noise amplifier, power amplifier, voltage-controlled oscillator with phase-locked loop circuits, quadrature demodulator and analog circuits. To realize compact size, the printed annular ring stacked microstrip antenna is integrated on the transceiver circuits, so its dimension is just $40\times40mm^2$. Also, to improve signal-to-noise-ratio performance by phase noise due to transmitter leakage signal, the phase-locked loop circuit is used. The measured results show that the heart rate and respiration accuracy was found to be very high for the distance of 50 cm without the additional digital signal processing.

  • This paper is detecting a partial discharge(PD) using antenna. The wavelet transform is applied for the analysis of PD pulse signal. It is difficult to identify PD signal using electromagnetic waves detected by antenna. And so we can removed noise of PD signal using wavelet de-noising method.

  • An antenna was designed and manufactured for the DBS receiver system. This antenna is a planar or flat antenna which shows many advantages over the conventional parabolic antenna such as higher aperture efficiency, easier installation and improved aesthetics to name a few. The antenna is a novel design employing microstrip annular ring resonating antenna elements and a radial waveguide feeder network. The LNB(Low Noise Blockdown Converter) is can integrate with the antenna iしt the back of the radial waveguide. The 35cm diameter antenna works at 31.8dBi minimum gain which implies an aperture efficiency of around $80\%$.

  • For a GPS antenna to normally receive GPS satellite signals during full flight mission of a satellite launch vehicle, it should be installed on skin of the vehicle. The surface of a launch vehicle is drastically heated up due to aerodynamic heating effect during flight, so that the GPS antenna mounted on surface of the launch vehicle is directly exposed to extremely hot temperature environment. Hot temperature test specification of the GPS antenna, therefore, is severer than inner components. This paper describes that procedures and results of performance analysis of the GPS antenna for KSLV-I under hot temperature environment. The GPS antenna was not deformed physically and inner LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) operated normally without performance degradation.

  • An optimal ground station (GS) antenna pattern design method for network-based UAV command and control communication systems considering complexity and performance is presented. The GS antenna consists of multiple side sectors and one upward sector. The antenna gain for each vertical/horizontal angle of the GS antenna according to the change of antenna design parameters such as the number of sectors, horizontal and vertical beam-width, and tilt-angle is modeled, and the effect of the parameter changes on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) distribution in the virtual three-dimensional space is analyzed. It is observed that the tilt-angle of the side sectors has the greatest effect on the performance, and the longer the distance between GSs, the higher the maximum altitude and the smaller the number of side sectors, the tilt-angle should be lower. In addition, it is observed that the wider vertical beam-width of the side sector is advantageous in maximizing the lowest SNR, but narrow vertical beam-width is advantageous in maximizing the average SNR.

  • GNSS receiver which uses the weak satellite signal is very vulnerable to the intentional jamming or non-intentional electromagnetic interference. One of the best method to overcome this disadvantage is to use an adaptive array antenna which has the capability of beamforming or nulling to the certain direction. In this paper, the performance of spatial adaptive null pattern control algorithm of 5 element array antenna is analyzed. A control algorithm which is designed in the 5 element array antenna is OPM(Output Power Minimization) which is eliminating the correlation characteristics between a reference antenna and the others. This algorithm can be applied effectively to the satellite navigation's CRPA because the satellite direction is not considered and GNSS signal power is below the thermal noise. The feature of the OPM algorithm is analyzed and the performance is compared with other null pattern control algorithm.
