Ultrasonic surgical devices are routinely used for surgical procedures. The incision and coagulation of tissue generate a temperature of $40^{\circ}C-150^{\circ}C$ and depend on the controllable output power level of the surgical device. Recently, research on the classification of grasped tissues to automatically control the power level was published. However, this research did not consider the specific characteristics of the surgical device, tissue denaturalization, and so on. Therefore, this research proposes a robust algorithm that simulates noise to resemble real situations and classifies tissue using conventional classifier algorithms. In this research, the bioimpedance spectrum for six tissues (liver, large intestine, kidney, lung, muscle, and fat) is measured, and five classifier algorithms are used. A signal-to-noise ratio of additive white Gaussian noise diversifies the testing sets, and as a result, each classifier's performance exhibits a difference. The k-nearest neighbors algorithm shows the highest classification rate of 92.09% (p < 0.01) and a standard deviation of 1.92%, which confirms high reproducibility.

Raman spectroscopy is an equipment that is widely used for classifying chemicals in chemical defense operations. However, the classification performance of Raman spectrum may deteriorate due to dark current noise, background noise, spectral shift by vibration of equipment, spectral shift by pressure change, etc. In this paper, we compare the classification accuracy of various machine learning algorithms including k-nearest neighbor, decision tree, linear discriminant analysis, linear support vector machine, nonlinear support vector machine, and convolutional neural network under noisy and spectral shifted conditions. Experimental results show that convolutional neural network maintains a high classification accuracy of over 95 % despite noise and spectral shift. This implies that convolutional neural network can be an ideal classification algorithm in a real combat situation where there is a lot of noise and spectral shift.
This paper proposes a noise-tolerant image classification system using multiple autoencoders. The development of deep learning technology has dramatically improved the performance of image classifiers. However, if the images are contaminated by noise, the performance degrades rapidly. Noise added to the image is inevitably generated in the process of obtaining and transmitting the image. Therefore, in order to use the classifier in a real environment, we have to deal with the noise. On the other hand, the autoencoder is an artificial neural network model that is trained to have similar input and output values. If the input data is similar to the training data, the error between the input data and output data of the autoencoder will be small. However, if the input data is not similar to the training data, the error will be large. The proposed system uses the relationship between the input data and the output data of the autoencoder, and it has two phases to classify the images. In the first phase, the classes with the highest likelihood of classification are selected and subject to the procedure again in the second phase. For the performance analysis of the proposed system, classification accuracy was tested on a Gaussian noise-contaminated MNIST dataset. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the proposed system in the noisy environment has higher accuracy than the CNN-based classification technique.
In this study, foreign and domestic noise criteria on walls, floors, and water supply facilities were reviewed and the results are as follows : regulation can be divided two things, one is on thickness the other is sound insulation performance. Green Building regulation based on the law and this have sound classification systems. Since these regulations are not established in Korea. The noise regulation on water supply-drain facilities and domestic guideline on interior noise level is needed. Foreign regulations are stricter than those of ours. And those has sound classification system for the better acoustic condition of inhabitants'.
Recently, with the increase of income level, many people desire to have agreeable and quiet surrounding. However, construction noise has caused much annoyance for a number of dwellers and workers in nearby construction field. It has become a very serious issue in our living environment. For the accurate evaluation of construction noise with various frequency spectrums and fluctuation characteristics, the evaluation system should reflect not only physical quantities but also the psychological respects of individual persons. With preceding study of psycho-acoustical experiments, this study attempts to survey the classification of adjectives and sound using the method of selected description and intends to get the basic data for establishment of a standard about construction noise.

In this paper, we analyze the discriminability of features for the classification of transient signals with an ambient noise in a shallow water. For the classification of the transient signals, robust features for the variance of a noise are required due to a low SNR under a marine environment. In the modelling the ambient noise in shallow water, theoretical noise model, Wenz's observation data from the shallow water, and Yule-walker filter are used. Discrimination of each feature of the transient signals with an additive ambient noise is analyzed by utilizing a Fisher score. As the analysis of a classification accuracy about the transient signals of 24 classes using the selected features with a high discriminability, the features selected in the environment without a noise relatively have a good classification accuracy. From the analyzed results, we finally select a total 16 features out of 28 features. The recognition using the selected features results in the classification accuracy of 92% in SNR 20dB using Multi-class SVM.

Induction motors play a vital role in aeronautical and automotive industries so that many researchers have studied on developing a fault detection and classification system of an induction motor to minimize economical damage caused by its fault. With this reason, this paper extracts robust feature vectors from the normal/abnormal vibration signals of the induction motor in noise circumstance: partial autocorrelation (PARCOR) coefficient, log spectrum powers (LSP), cepstrum coefficients mean (CCM), and mel-frequency cepstrum coefficient (MFCC). Then, we classified different types of faults of the induction motor by using the extracted feature vectors as inputs of a neural network. To find optimal feature vectors, this paper evaluated classification performance with 2 to 20 different feature vectors. Experimental results showed that five to six features were good enough to give almost 100% classification accuracy except features by CCM. Furthermore, we considered that vibration signals could include noise components caused by surroundings. Thus, we added white Gaussian noise to original vibration signals, and then evaluated classification performance. The evaluation results yielded that LSP was the most robust in noise circumstance, then PARCOR and MFCC followed by LSP, respectively.

As rotating machines play an important role in industrial applications such as aeronautical, naval and automotive industries, many researchers have developed various condition monitoring system and fault diagnosis system by applying artificial neural network. Since using obtained signals without preprocessing as inputs of neural network can decrease performance of fault classification, it is very important to extract significant features of captured signals and to apply suitable features into diagnosis system according to the kinds of obtained signals. Therefore, this paper proposes a neural-network-based fault diagnosis system using AR coefficients as feature vectors by LPC(linear predictive coding) and EIV(errors-in variables) analysis. We extracted feature vectors from sound, vibration and current faulty signals and evaluated the suitability of feature vectors depending on the classification results and training error rates by changing AR order and adding noise. From experimental results, we conclude that classification results using feature vectors by EIV analysis indicate more than 90 % stably for less than 10 orders and noise effect comparing to LPC.

In this paper, a robust pattern classification of breath sounds for the diagnosis of pulmonary dysfunction in noise environment is proposed. The feature parameter extraction method by highpass lifter algorithm and PM(projection measure) algorithm are used. 17 different groups of breath sounds are experimentally classified and investigated. The classification has been performed by 6 different types of combinations with proposed methods to evaluate the performances, such as ARC with EDM and LCC with EDM, WLCC with EDM, ARC with PM, LCC with PM, WLCC with PM. Furthermore, all feature parameters are extracted to 80th orders by 5th orders step, and all experiments are evaluated in increasing noise environments by degrees SNR 24dB to 0dB. As a results, WLCC which is derived from highpass lifter algorithm, is selected for the feature parameter extraction method. Pm is more robust than EDM in noisy environments to test and compare experimental results. WLCC with PM method(WLCC/PM) has a better performance in an increasing noise environment for diagnosis of pulmonary dysfunction.

This paper first proposes a classification algorithm which detects a voiced, unvoiced, and silence signal using distance measure, logarithm power and root mean square methods at each frame, then a spectrum subtraction algorithm based on a subband filter. The proposed algorithm subtracts spectrums of white noise and street noise from noisy signal based on the subband filter at each frame. In this experiment, experimental results of the proposed spectrum subtraction algorithm demonstrate using the speech and noise data of Aurora-2 database. Based on measuring the speech-to-noise ratio (SNR), experiments confirm that the proposed algorithm is effective for the speech by contaminated the noise. From the experiments, the improvement in the output SNR values was approximately 2.1 dB and 1.91 dB better for white noise and street noise, respectively.
