To get the information of sanitary develoment of beef and pork, we get the result of environmental specimens(slaughter house floors, sewage, etc) in laboratory. 1. After examination of bacterial infection on after-bleeding, after-dismemberment and final products at each stage of cattle slaughter process, we got log 3.80~7.48cfu/$\textrm{cm}^2$ of aerobic plate counts and log 2.60~5.23cfu/$\textrm{cm}^2$ of coliform counts or so from the carcasses after bleeding, but these count levels went down little bit after dismemberment but as we continued study to the final products, the count levels kept sililar in mumbers. 2. At the slaughter process of pigs, the aerobic plate counts and the coliform counts reached such high levels of log 5.59~8.80cfu/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and log 3.31~5.67cfu/$\textrm{cm}^2$, respectively, after bleeding, in general, these count diminished in a big way after scalding, but they increased just little bit from dismemberment to final products. And there were few differences in the contamination levels on the final products no matter what seasonal contaminations after bleeding. 3. Test revealed very low levels of cell counts both on the aerobic plate counts of washing water and in the coliform counts, the former was log 1.00~2.69cfu/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and the later was log 3.30~5.67cfu/$\textrm{cm}^2$, but the contamination levels on the beds of transfering vehicles for carcasses were very high as followes : the aerobic counts was log 4.23~7.20cfu/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and coliform counts was log 2.86~5.20cfu/$\textrm{cm}^2$. 4. Study showed the aeroboc plate counts and the coliform counts get to the highest levels in summer, the second highest one is in fall, the third in spring, lowest in winter. Resulting from the test results proven above we reached this kind of conclusion the bacterial contaminations on eatable carcasses were upto hygienic treatment of carcasses and cleaniness of transfering vehicles at the final stop of slaughter processes rather than upto at any stage of slaughter processes. Therefore we have got to establish alternatives immediately to develo sanitary quality of meat and pork.
A magnetic separation study was conducted for a soil sampled from a landfill site where steel slag had been dumped for a long time. Heavy metal concentrating effect was evaluated by analyzing heavy metal content of magnetically separated soil and passed through soil. The effect was compared between soil after soil-washing process and original landfill soil and the effect was also tested between wet condition-magnetic separation and dry condition-magnetic separation. Separated ratio was relatively higher in non-soil washed sample. The water content has no significant effect on the separation rate. The concentrating effect of Fe, Pb, Cu, and Cd were 3.2, 2.1, 12.1, 2.5, 1.5 and 17.4, 7.0, 15.7, 9.6, 7.0 respectively for non-soil washed sample and soil washed sample. We can expect a bigger volume reduction effect from soil-washed samples. The volume reduction effect was obtained from the separation in dry condition. However, when the separation ratio is too high the volume reduction effect decreases. The magnetic separation leads to a volume reduction and concentration of heavy metals into a portion of soil in case of paramagnetic particles contained soil.

This study was performed to analyze the distribution and antimicrobial resistance of pathogenic microorganisms isolated from the carcass and environments of chicken processing plant located in Gyeonggi province from October to November in 2010. Chicken slaughterhouse was visited 3 times and totally 40 samples were collected from chicken carcass before and after washing (n=14), chicken cuts (n=7), cooling water (n=8), brine (n=2), cutting knives (n=7) and working plate (n=2). Whole-chicken rinsing technique (for chicken carcasses) and swab technique (for working plate and knives) were used to analyze the distribution of pathogenic microorganisms. In addition, brine and chilling water from storage tanks were gathered using sterilized tubes and used as samples. The matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI MS) for whole cell fingerprinting in combination with a dedicated bioinformatic software tool was used to identify the isolated microorganisms. The pathogenic microorganisms, such as Bacillus cereus (n=8) and Staphylococcus aureus (n=9), were isolated form the chicken processing process (chicken carcasses of before and after chilling, chicken cuts, and working plate). The antimicrobial susceptibility of those isolated microorganisms was analyzed using 21 antimicrobial agents. In the case of B. cereus, it showed 100% of resistance to subclasses of penicillins and peptides, and it also resistant to cephalothin, a member of critically important antimicrobials (CIA), however there was no resistance (100% susceptible) to vancomycin and chloramphenicol. S. aureus showed 100% resistance to subclasses of peptides and some of penicillins (penicillin and oxacillin), however, it showed 100% susceptibility to cephalosporins (cefazolin and cephalothin). All of the tested pathogens showed multi drug resistance (MDR) more than 4 subclasses and one of B. cereus and S. aureus showed resistance to 9 subclasses. After the ban on using the antimicrobials in animal feed in July 2011, there would be some change in microbial distribution and antimicrobial resistance, and it still has a need to be analyzed.
Purpose: This study was carried out for the purpose of obtaining basic data necessary for developing the future oral health promotion program of the elderly by surveying the actual condition of managing dental prosthesis in the elderly. Methods: It collected materials targeting 346 elderly brackets in over 65 years old who dwell in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province for about 10 months from September 2010 to June 2011, analyzed 312 copies except 34 copies, which are inappropriate for data processing due to being insufficient in response among these things, and obtained the following results. Results: In the actual condition of missing tooth, a case of missing tooth was indicated to be 78.8%. In case of missing tooth, the number of missing teeth was indicated to be 75.6% for under 5 pieces and 19.1% for over 21 pieces. In the actual condition of managing prosthesis, a case with dental prosthesis treatment was indicated to be 77.6%. A kind of prosthesis was indicated to be the highest in fixed partial dentures with 36.5%. In a method of rinsing dentures, 47.7% of the elderly responded as saying of washing it out with water. The appearance of removing dentures at night was indicated to be the highest in doing so with 63.1%. Satisfaction with prosthesis of being mounted now was indicated to be moderate with 50.4%. As for the appearance of having experience of education on how to manage prosthesis, it was indicated to be high with 50.4% in having none. In a kind of prosthesis depending on averagely monthly income, the ratio of total dentures was high when averagely monthly income is low. On the other hand, a case with high income was indicated to have high ratio in implants. The satisfaction with prosthesis was low when averagely monthly income is low. Also, in the experience of education on how to manage prosthesis, the ratio of responses as saying of having no experience of education on how to manage prosthesis was indicated to be high when averagely monthly income is low. Conclusion: Examining the above results, a developmental plan is considered to be necessary such as developing continuous and systematic oral health promotion program for managing elderly people's managing dental prothesis.

The detection of tubercle bacilli (TB) from sputum smear is one of the fast and inexpensive methods for diagnosis of tuberculosis. For this method. sputum smears are usually flexed by heating and stained by acid-fast staining method, and then examined under an optical microscope. Two Procedures are commonly used fur TB staining. One is hot staining and the other is cold staining method. The Ziehl-Neelsen method which is a hot staining method is widely used in Korea because its stained color is more vivid However, the conventional automated stainer has to fix the sputum smear on a slide manually and the stain is not so vivid because it has not heating function. In an effort to save labor and minimize variations in manual staining Procedure. we developed an automated stainer with heating function. The entire staining process is fully automated. from fixation to final washing and drying. With the automated methods, five slides can be flexed and stained in 21 minutes at consistent high quality We compared the concordance rate between the two methods for 91 sputum samples to validate the stain quality of the developed automated stainer. As the results, the concordant rate between the two methods was 95% and there was no significant difference (p>0.05)
Objectives: This study was conducted to identify the correlation between belief in hand hygiene, activities and related hand hygiene performance rates among dental staff. Methods: This study was based on the evaluation of 329 dental practitioners, including dental hygienists who work at dental clinics, dental hospitals, general and university dental hospitals in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do Province, and Incheon. The questionnaire consisted of a total of 46 questions, including 7 questions on general characteristics, and 25 questions on hand hygiene beliefs, and 5 questions on hand hygiene activities, and 9 questions on hand hygiene practices. This study used 291 subjects for the final analysis, excluding subjects who had provided incomplete or inappropriate responses to the questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using an independent t-test, ANOVA, $x^2$ test, correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis, where p-values of <0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results: Longer clinical career was associated with a significant increase in behavior and norm beliefs, but no sequential difference in control beliefs. The hand hygiene performance was higher in staff at larger hospitals after contact with pollutants and contaminated environments. Higher age was associated with a significant increase in hand hygiene performance rates, but profession was not statistically significant in the performance rate of hand hygiene. The hand hygiene performance rate was ranked higher among those with average work hours per week of greater than 8 hours followed by those who worked fewer than 8 hours. Fewer work hours per week, a stronger belief in hand hygiene, less frequent exposure to contaminated environments, and a greater number of hand hygiene performance had a positive effect on higher hand hygiene performance rates. Conclusions: In order to increase the hand hygiene performance rate of dental practitioners, it is considered that required time for hand washing should be ensured sufficiently. Proper usage of hand sanitizers should also be promoted efficiently.
The purpose of this study is to obtain some basic data necessary for more effective health education by questionnaire survey on the knowledge, attitude and preventive health behavior. The questionnaire forms were delivered to 500 university students in seoul during periods from 24 to 28, september, from 7 to 19, October, 1991. The result of this study can be summarized as follows: 1) Washing hands after using toilet has relationship to sex (fece: $X^2=51.55$, urine: $X^2=36.25$, p<0.05). Index of female was higher than that of male. 2) Tooth brushing has relationship to sex ($X^2=13.28$, p<0.05). The tendency of practice of male and female was similar. 3) Changing of underwear 1~3 days were the highest and it has relationship to sex ($X^2=162.846$, p<0.05), birth place ($X^2=97.18$, p<0.05). Index of female was higher than that of male. 4) Bathing has relationship to sex ($X^2=80.92$, p<0.05). birth place ($X^2=54.18$, p<0.05, pocket money ($X^2=33.04$, p<0.05). 5) The attitude on occurrence of epidemic disease has relationship to sex ($X^2=70.33$, p<0.05). A female was more senstive than male. 6) In case of slight disease, a cold, illness from fatigue, the utilization of drug store was higher. The utilization of medical center according to disease has relationship to sex ($X^2=69.84$, p<0.05). 7) Medical behaviorism has relationship to school year ($X^2=35.18$, p<0.05), sex ($X^2=42.18$, p<0.05). 8) The utilization of school health center has relationship to sex ($X^2=10.73$, p<0.05), the school year ($X^2=72.09$, p<0.05), the pocket money ($X^2=38.80$, p<0.05). 9) The experience of health education has relationship to school year ($X^2=10.96$, p<0.05). No experence is 95.4%. 10) The subject for health-medical knowledge is necessary. The need for subject has relationship to sex ($X^2=10.86$, p<0.05).

In this study, we examined the preparation and hydrolysis property of immobilized urease membrane to decompose harmful urea in the body and remove ammonia which was produced by its decomposition. Urease immobilized membrane was prepared by introducing anion-exchange group DEA into porous hollow-fiber membrane by radiation graft polymerization method, and immobilization of urease. When urease was immobilized at membrane introduced with anion-exchange group, the more increasing grafting rate, the more increasing immobilization amount. The result originates from the fact that a greater amount of protein was immobilized by forming a multilayer on the longer grafted chain. Meanwhile, the addition of the cross-linker was possible not only to suppress separation phenomenon produced during a washing process of immobilized urease membrane but also to enable the recycling of membrane. Urease Immobilized membrane with no separation phenomenon was prepared by cross-linking reaction for 5 h, and the hydrolysis rate of prepared urease immobilized membrane was over 98% and 50%, respectively, in 1 mol and 4 mol urea solutions.

This study was carried out to evaluate the microbiological quality of beef carcasses at different slaughtering process in large (>100 cattle/day) and small (<30 cattle/day) scale slaughtering houses. Swabbing method was used to analyze the incidence of microorganisms on brisket surface of beef carcasses in each process of after dehiding, after evisceration, before and final wash, and in cold room. In winter time, large scale slaughterhouse showed lower incidence of aerobic microorganisms (10$\^$0/∼10$^2$ CFU/$\textrm{cm}^2$) than those of small scale slaughterhouse (10$\^$0/-10$^3$ CFU/$\textrm{cm}^2$) during the slaughtering process of after dehiding, evisceration and before final wash. But samples from carcasses after final wash and in cold room storage showed no difference in aerobic cell counts between large and small scale slaughterhouse. In spring time, samples showed higher incidence of microorganisms by the log scale 1 than those of winter time in both of small and large scale slaughterhouse. After final wash, different sampling place in carcass such as rump, flank, brisket showed the different washing effect in both of small and large scale slaughterhouse. After final wash, samples from rump showed lower aerobic cell counts, but samples from flank and brisket showed higher aerobic cell counts than samples from each site before final wash.

When polluted stream water was treated with biological aerated filter(BAF) in pilot plant, all operation with 90, 60, 45 and 30 min of EBCT at fixed $0.1m^3air/m^2min$ of aeration showed 80% or higher treatment efficiency of particle materials(SS, turbidity and Chl.-a) and 85% or higher efficiency of ammonia nitrogen removal. It was thought that, in case of BOD, biological stability may sufficiently be assured with BAF because grade III or IV inflow water was changed to grade I for outflow water. In case of $COD_{Mn}$, about 60% of removal efficiency was found. When the mechanism of the result was investigated, about 30% of COD materials was produced by algae clogged in the reactor. There was almost no biological decomposition because specific substrate utilization rate of algogenic organic materials were $0.0245mg{\cdot}COD_{Mn}/mg{\cdot}VSS{\cdot}day$, thus partial backwashing(washing the media in 1 m upper of the reactor once a day) was required. It is thought that elevation of removal rate about 10% of $COD_{Mn}$ and 5.5% of $BOD_5$ could be obtained with partial backwashing resulting in assurance of biologically more stable raw water and that saving backwashing water may be significant.
