Active regeneration in CDPF requires $O_2$ which regenerates soot at high temperature. However, small amount of NO can interrupt $O_2$ regeneration in CDPF. To verify this phenomena, soot oxidation experiments using a flow reactor with a $Pr/CeO_2$ catalyst are carried out to simulate Catalyzed Diesel Particulate Filter (CDPF) phenomena. Catalytic soot oxidation with and without small amount of NO is conducted under tight contact condition. As the heating rate rises, the temperature gap of maximum reaction rate is increased between with and without 50ppm NO. To accelerate the $NO_2$ de-coupling effect, CTO process is performed to eliminate interfacial contact for that time. As CTO process is extended, temperature which indicates peak reaction rate increases. From this result, it is found that small amount of NO can affect tight contact soot oxidation by removal of interfacial contact between soot and catalyst.
Nitric oxide (NO) is a signaling molecule that plays a crucial role in numerous cellular physiological processes. In the skin, NO is produced by keratinocytes, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and immune cells and is involved in skin functions such as vasodilation, pigmentation, hair growth, wound healing, and immune responses. NO modulates both innate and adaptive immune responses. As a signaling molecule and cytotoxic effector, NO influences the function of immune cells and production of cytokines. NO is a key mediator that protects against or contributes to skin inflammation. Moreover, NO has been implicated in skin sensitization, a process underlying contact dermatitis. It modulates the function of dendritic cells and T cells, thereby affecting the immune response to allergens. NO also plays a role in contact dermatitis by inducing inflammation and tissue damage. NO-related chemicals, such as nitrofatty acids and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibitors, have potential therapeutic applications in skin conditions, including allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) and irritant contact dermatitis (ICD). Further research is required to fully elucidate the therapeutic potential of NO-related chemicals and develop personalized treatment strategies for skin conditions.
The paper presents a numerical solution to the problem of a hot rigid indenter sliding over a thermoelastic Winkler foundation with a thermal contact resistance at constant speed. It is shown analytically that no steady-state solution can exist for sufficiently high temperature or sufficiently small normal load or speed, regardless of the thermal contact resistance. However the steady state solution may exist in the same situation if the thermal contact resistance is considered. This means that the effect of the large values of temperature difference and small value of force or velocity which occur at no steady state can be lessened due to the thermal contact resistance. When there is no steady state, the predicted transient behavior involves regions of transient stationary contact interspersed with regions of separation regardless of the thermal contact resistance. Initially, the system typically exhibits a small number of relatively large contact and separation regions, but after the initial transient, the trailing edge of the contact area is only established and the leading edge loses contact, reducing the total extent of contact considerably. As time progresses, larger and larger numbers of small contact areas are established, unlit eventually the accuracy of the algorithm is limited by the discretization used.

Nonlinear property and contact matter are analyzed about the pipe applied with internal pressure through this study. The weakest part and its safety can be examined. Maximum equivalent stress is shown at the contact surface between bolt and nut. The value of contact stress with the pressure of 12MPa is increased 1.4 times as large as that with no pressure. The maximum contact pressure is shown at the clamp corner of the external surface on pipe. The value of contact pressure with the pressure of 12MPa is increased 1.4 times as large as that with no pressure. The radial deformation with no pressure is also increased greatly at the middle part of internal surface on pipe. But this maximum deformation on pipe with the pressure of 12MPa is shown at the part far away the support of pipe. This value is increased 5.7 times as large as that value with no pressure. As contact status, the sticking occurs most at the external surface of pipe. It also tends to occur at the contact surface between bolt and nut. At the external surface of pipe, the sticking in case of the pressure of 12MPa occurs more than that in case of no pressure.
The purpose of this study was to determine if any differences exist in eye contact before and after vestibulaar stimulation in mentally retarded children. The subjects of this study were 20 mentally retarded children with a mean age of 9 years and 8 months and a mean intelligence quotient of $30.4{\pm}9.1$. Vestibular stimulation was given for 15 minutes, 5 times a week, for 4 weeks from September 1 to September 30, 1989. Equipment used included a rocking-horse, see-saw and scooter board. Two testers used a digital watch calibrated to 1/100 second to measure object-eye contact duration and the Blocks and Shapes test for determining frequency of object-eye contact in the subjects. The results of this study were as follows : 1. There was a significant prolongation in the duration of eye contact after 15 minutes of vestibular stimulation (p<0.005). 2. There was no significant difference in duration of eye-object contact between the first and last vestibular stimulation. 3. There was no significant difference in the length of time of attention paid to objects (frequency of eye-object contact) before and after 15 minutes of vestibular stimulation on the first vestibular stimulation. 4. There was no significant difference in the frequency of eye-object contact between the first and first vestibular stimulation. In conclusion, there was u significant improvement in duration of eye-object contact on intrasession measurement in mentally retarded children. However, there was no significant improvement over time after 4 weeks of vestibular stimulation on intersession measurement. Nor was there any statistically significant improvement in frequency of eye-object contact over time during the study period.
No-insulation (NI) pancake magnets are fabricated using Rare earth-Barium-Copper Oxide (REBCO) coated conductor (CC) tapes, which enabled a very compact magnet in the aspects of high critical current density ($J_c$) and high mechanical strength by removing insulation and allowing thinner stabilizer. They have also advantages such as self-quench protection. Therefore, it does not need quench detection and protection that can be very challenging in a high critical temperature ($T_c$) superconducting magnet technology. Recently, it was reported that the NI REBCO CC magnets have some drawbacks of long charging time and high field ramp loss which will be a concern in the operation of cryocooled magnets. These issues are related to the turn-to-turn contact resistivity and can be released by managing it. This is also closely related to the activity of reducing the contact joint resistance in the case of CC joints for long length CC fabrication. Therefore, in this study, the turn-to-turn contact resistance ($R_c$) at the CC contact part of differently stabilized CC tapes was measured. The behaviors of $R_c$ at CC contact parts according to the applied contact pressure were investigated. The range of $R_c$ measured for CC tapes adopted will provide fundamental data for design and fabrication of the CC NI coils.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the peak electromyographic activity(EMG) and time intervals in firing sequence of Anterior temporalis(TA) and Masseter(MM) on clenching, the number of tender points in the head and neck muscles, the occlusal contact state on clenching, and their relationship. 78 patients with Temporomandibular Disorders(TMDs) participated and were classified into articular or muscular group by clinical signs and symptoms. BioEMG$\textregistered$ of integrated masticatory function analyzer, Biopak$\textregistered$ system(Bioresearch Inc., USA), was used to measure EMG and related items, and T- Scan$\textregistered$(Tekscan, USA), computerized occlusal analyser, was used to record occlusal contact state on maximum voluntary clenching. EMG and occlusal contact were synchronously recorded and analysed with SAS Statistical program. The results of this study were as follows : 1. In total subjects, EMG of TA was lower than that of MM in articular group but in muscular group, vice versa, As a result, the ratio TA to MM was significantly different between the two groups. no significant differece. 3. The number and force of occlusal contact were more in articular group, but there was no significant difference in Total Left-Right statistics(TLR) between the two groups. 4. In unilaterally affected subjects for muscle function, no significant difference was observed between the affected side and the contralateral side in articular group, but in muscular group, the item of the number of tender points showed significant difference. However, for occlusal contact items, contact force in articular group shows significant difference between the two sides. 5. Rate of coincidence of the first firing side of TA with affected side or preferred chewing side was higher and not different between the two groups, but no significant correlation was showed between the first firing side and the first occlusal contact side.
The purpose of this study is to optimize parameters of a contact model to obtain similar ground contact force of human walking. Dynamic walking simulation considering ground contact is performed to determine load specifications when developing walking assist robots. Large contact forces that are not observed in actual experimental data occur during the simulation at the initial contact (e.g., heel contact). The large contact force generates unrealistic large joint torques. A lower exoskeleton robot with no ankles is developed with the Matlab simscape and the nonlinear hyper volumetric contact model is applied. Parameters of the nonlinear hyper volumetric model were optimized using actual walking contact force data. As a result of optimization, it was possible to obtain a contact force pattern similar to actual walking by removing the large contact force generated during initial contact.
There have been many different theories on the etiology of temporomandibular disorders(TMDs). The objective of the study was to investigate the effects of occlusal fctors and recent life event changes as prediposing fctor on the development of temporomandibjlar disorders. To evaluate the above predisposing factor, the author used T-scan system(Tekscan Co. U.S.A.) for quantitative occlusal analysis, clinical examination for occlusal state and Social Readjustment Rating Scale(SRRS) for recent life event change units (LCU). 63 patients with TMDs and 57 patients with malocclusion presented at Wonkwang University Dental Hospital participated in this study. The subjects were grouped by Angle's classification and presence of absence of TMDs and parafunctional oral habits. Data gained with regard to contact number, contact force, contact time, occlusal state(number of total teeth and occluding teeth, overjet, overbite) and occlusal interferences (protrusive posterior contact, nonworking side interference, and RCP-ICP slide) and recent life event changes. The data were processed and analysed by SAS statistical package program, The results of this study were as follows : 1. There were no significant differences on both quantitative occlusal contact analysis and occlusal state between TMDs group and Angle's malocclusion group. Also, there were no differences among the Angle's classifications. But amount of overjet in TMDs group were more greater than that of malocclusion group. 2. There was no difference on protrusive posterior contact, and balancing contact between TMDs group and Angle's malocclusion group. Premature contact was more frequent in malocclusion group, but RCP-ICP slide was more frequent in TMDs group. And RCP-ICP slide was more freqent in Angle's class II malocclusion than Angle's I or III malocclusion. 3. Life changes units in TMDs group were higher than those in malocclusion group. And recent life change units in group with parafunctional oral habit were higher than those in group without parafunctional oral habits. Clenching was the most common habit among parafunctional oral habits.
