  • Because conventional switching converters have been usually using unbalanced circuit topologies, parasitice between the drain/collertor of an active switch and frame ground through its heat sink may generate the commom-mode conducted noise. We have proposed a balanced switching converter circuit, whitch is an effective way to reduce the commom-mode converter version of the balanced switching converter was presented and the mechanism of the commom-mode noise reduction was explained using equivalent circuits. This paper extends the concept of the balanced switch converter circuit and presents a buck-boost converter version of the blanced switching converter. The feature of common-mode niose reduction is confirmed by experimental resuits and the mechanisem of the commom-mode niose reduction is explained using equivalent circuits.

  • The purpose of this study is the improvement of the prediction model of highway noise. It includes the measurement and analysis of predicted noise levels by various programs in types of road and environments. The results of the measurement are compared with the noise levels predicted by improved highway noise prediction model and domestic prediction models, (Improved highway noise prediction model was considered ASJ-2003, ISO-9613 part2 and noise power of road surface types at Korean highway road.)

  • This study was to analyze the difference in pilot error by using the Signal Detection Theory. The task was to detect the targeted aircraft(signal) which is different shape from many other aircraft(noise). From the two experiments, we differentiated the task difficulty followed by change in noise stimuli. Experiment 1 was to search the signal stimuli(fighter plane) while the noise stimuli(cargo plane) were increasing. The results from the Experiment 1 showed the tendency to decrease the hit rate by increasing the number of noise stimuli. However, the false alarm rate was not increased. The sensitivity(d') showed quite high. In Experiment 2, a disturbance stimulus(helicopter) was added to noise stimuli. The result was generally similar to those of Experiment 1. However, the hit rate was lower than that of Experiment 1.

  • This study was investigated to evaluate worker exposures to organic solvents by type of print industry. Results were as follows; 1. Workers were exposed to mixture of toluene, isopropyl alcohol(IPA), methyl ethyl ketone(MEK), n-hexane, ethylacetate(EA), acetone. The components of high exposure solvents were toluene, IPA and MEK. 2. Considering additive effects of the compounds, exposure indices(Em) were calculated. The Mean of exposure indices were 1.79 for Gravere, 0.41 for Screen and 0.14 for Opset workplace. The workers of Gravere workplace were estimated to overexpose for solvents. 3. The highest overexposed solvent was toluene for a single component. The rate of overexposed level for toluene was 7.41% for some print workplace and for mixed solvent was 1.85%. 4. Local exhaust systems were inappropriate and respiratory protective devices were not supplied to the workers. 5. Sound level was over 90dB(A) in Opset print workplace and some measures should be performed to get down the sound level.

  • For an economical or timely reason, the types of subscriber loops for ISDN basic rate access service will, at least initially, be that of the pre-existing telephone network, that is, 2-wire twisted-pair metallic cable. Therefore, it is important to assess the high-speed digital transmission capability of the 2-wire subscriber loops. In this paper, the impairments such as intersymbol interference, crosstalk, and impulse niose are modeled. And then, symbol error probabilities in terms of SNR in DSL system using ECH and 2B1Q line code are analytically derived and numerically calculated. Also, the relationship between the quality of service required in ISDN subscriber section and the loop parameters is investigated.

  • The increase of road traffic niose in residential area has been considered to be a serious environmental problem to deteriorate a living condition. The understanding of noise environment in multiple family housing is needed for noise reduction. This study attempts to find out the characteristics of noise environment. For this purpose, the field survey has been carried out to investigate the noise environment(sound level, quality of sound) and the residents' responses(noiseness, annoyance) for noise environment based on 173 households living in 3 apartment compounds built in Pusan according to site location. The major findings are as follows : 1. The sound levels by road traffic noise were measured by dB(A) and dB(Lin). The sound levels were : 77.0dB(A), 86.6dB(Lin) in D-Apt, 73.3dB(A), 82.6dB(Lin) in K-Apt, and 59.1dB(A), 74.6dB(Lin) in M-Apt. Especially, the difference between dB(A) and dB(Lin) was very big in the cae of M-Apt with a barriers for traffic noise reduction. 2. The internal sound levels were shown the soudn attenuation by horizontal distance and by opening or shuting condition of windows.

  • In this paper, a password recognition system that can overcome a shoulder-surfing attack is developed. During the time period of password insertion, the developed system can prevent the attack and enhance the safety of the password. In order to raise the detection rate of the password image, the mopology technique is utilized. By adapting 4 times of the expansion and dilation, the niose from the binary image of the password is removed. Finally, the mobile phone application is also developed to recognize the one time password and the detection rate is measured. It is shown that the detection rate of 90% is achieved under the dark light condition.

  • The noise caused by a variety of reasons worsens the quality of input image when we use the images reproducing device. The basic difficulty to solve this problem is that the noise and the signal are difficult to be distinguished. Contrast enhancement such as unsharp masking is one of the most important procedures to improve the quality of input images. The conventional unsharp masking enhances the images by adding their amplified high frequency components. The noise component of the input images, however, also tends to be amplified due to the nature of the unsharp masking. This paper considers the block approach for detecting niose and image feature of the input image so that the unsharp masking could be adaptively applied accordingly. Simulation results show that it is made possible to enhance contrast of the image without boosting up the noisy components by applying the proposed algorithm.
