Electrolyzed water cleaning for semiconductor manufacturing

  • A semiconductor cleaning technology has been based upon RCA cleaning which consumes vast amounts of chemicals and ultra pure water. This technology hence gives rise to many environmental issues, and some alternatives such as electrolyzed water are being studied. In this work, intentionally contaminated Si wafers were cleaned using the electrolyzed water. The electrolyzed waters were obtained in anode and cathode with oxidation reduction potentials and pH of -1050mV and 4.8, and -750mV and 10.0, respectively. The electrolyzed water deterioration was correlated with $CO_2$ concentration changes dissolved from air. Overflowing of electrolyzed water during cleaning particles resulted in the same cleanness as could be obtained with RCA clean. The roughness of patterned wafer surfaces after EW clean maintained that of as-received wafers. RCA clean consumed about $9\ell$ chemicals, while electrolyzed water clean did only $400m\ell$ HCl or $600m\ell$ $NH_4$Cl to clean 8" wafers in this study. It was hence concluded that electrolyzed water cleaning technology would be very effective for releasing environment, safety, and health(ESH) issues in the next generation semiconductor manufacturing.ring.

Structural Safety Analysis of Electric Kickboard According to Shape of Connection Parts Using Finite Element Analysis (유한요소해석 기반의 전동 킥보드 연결부 형상에 따른 구조적 안전성 분석)

  • Electric kickboards are inviting attention as next-generation transportation systems with their number of users increasing rapidly every year. However, the number of related accidents similarly increases with the increase in the number of users. The purpose of this study is to analyze the structural safety of electric kickboards according to the shape of the connection parts. For this purpose, four different shapes of the connection parts, i.e., cube, cylinder, toroid, and divided cube were selected. Subsequently, the safety was analyzed based on the finite element (FE) analysis under the front collision scenario. The results showed that the shape of the divided cube induced the lowest von Mises stress and the highest safety factor amongst the four models. Moreover, only the shape showed a safety factor higher than 1. However, the shape of the cylinder exhibited the lowest structural vulnerability. These results demonstrate the importance of the shape of the connection part in maintaining the overall safety of an electric kickboard.

Nondestructive Evaluation for Mechanical Degradation of Ultrasuper-Critical Heat-Resistance Steel by Reversible Permeability (가역투자율를 이용한 초초임계압 내열강의 기계적 열화에 관한 비파괴평가)

  • Nondestructive evaluation for mechanical degradation of ultrasuper-critical (USC) heat-resistance steel, which is attractive to the next generation of power plants is studied by magnetic reversible permeability. The interrelationship between reversible permeability and high-temperature mechanical degradation has been investigated by precise measurement of permeability nondestructively. Also, the effects of microstructural variation on reversible permeability are discussed. Isothermal aging was observed to coarsen the tempered carbides ($Cr_{23}C_6$), generated the intermetallic phases ($Fe_2W$), and grow rapidly during aging. The dislocation density also decreases steeply within lath interior. The peak to peak interval (PPI) of reversible permeability profile decreased drastically during the initial 500 h aging period, and was thereafter observed to decrease only slightly. The variation in PPI is closely related to the decrease in the number of pinning sites and the degradation in tensile strength.

  • The design of a battery package and a BMS module for applications using seawater rechargeable batteries, which are known as next-generation energy storage devices, is proposed herein. Seawater rechargeable batteries, which are currently in the initial stage of research, comprise primarily components such as anode and cathode materials. Their application is challenging owing to their low charge capacity and limited charge/discharge voltage and current. Therefore, we design a method for packaging multiple cells and a BMS module for the safe charging and discharging of seawater rechargeable batteries. In addition, a prototype seawater rechargeable battery package and BMS module are manufactured, and their performances are verified by evaluating the prevention of overcharge, overdischarge, overcurrent, and short circuit during charging and discharging.

  • Recent information and communication technologies have already opened up new prospects for technology groups, especially in a knowledge-based society. A contemporary technological era, which can be stated as the hyper-connective Internet of Things surpassed the traditional service pattern and innovation pattern by conveying personalized, localized, and con-text-aware services close to different actors and users. The conventional boundary of the organization is disbanding as well as traditional innovation and research & development limits. This research article conducts a preliminary study about the hyper-connective Internet of Things technology portent with innovation 3.0 version based on an extended technological organization environment framework (E-TOEF). This article discusses the emergence of innovation 3.0 as a paradigm shift from a manufacturing paradigm to an actor-oriented paradigm. There is a need to shift from a manufacturing mindset to more user ergonomics and be aware of the potential of hyper-connective IoT on the revolution of innovation patterns to be more cooperative, open, and user-centered. Besides, this article would strain some conceptual approaches for the next-generation innovation paradigm known as "hyper-connective IoT" entitled innovation 3.0. This new innovation version goes beyond open innovation and undeniably clearly beyond closed innovation which was an earlier version.

  • A high-speed railway system represents a typical example of large-scale multi-disciplinary system, consisting of subsystems such as rolling-stock, electrical hardware, electronics, control, information, communication, civil technology etc. The system design and acquisition data of the large-scale system must be the subject under strict configuration control and management. Systems engineering technology development project for Korea next generation High-speed Electric Multiple Unit (HEMU) system in progress is a national large system development project that is not only a large-size and complex but also multi-disciplinary in nature. Therefore, all stakeholders must understand and share the functional and performance requirements of HEMU throughout its life-cycle phases. Also in the test and evaluation phase, all systems requirements must be verified. In 2011, the prototype train manufacturing will be completed. It will do test run on the commercial line and all systems requirements are verified until 2012. For the system verification, the test and evaluation process have to be established before the test trial run. Using a systems engineering tool, the system design database(SDD) with requirements traceability and development process management in the course of the development have to be established. This paper represents the test and evaluation process development based on the SEMP(Systems Engineering Management Plan) developed in the design stage. The test and evaluation process is refined and updated in comparison to the design stage one. The test and evaluation process consists of procedure, test and evaluation method and schedule. So through this process, it is defined that each systems requirements is verified on which test and about what time.

  • In recent years, the need for multi-stage gear drives, which highly reduce output speed, has been increased. However, the design of multi-stage gear drives have been carried out by a limited number of experts. The consideration for the direction of input and output axes also makes their design very difficult. The purpose of this study is to develop an algorithm for automatically generating complex multi-stage gear drives and to implement a design supporting system for multi-stage gear drives. There are 4 stages in the proposed algorithm, and major design parameters,.such as the direction of input and output axes, reduction ratio, etc. are set up in the first stage. In the second stage, all mechanisms are generated, and various rules are applied to select feasible mechanisms. In the third stage, the gear ratio of each stage is divided from total gear ratio. Next, the specifications of gears for feasible mechanisms are calculated and their bending strength and surface durability are estimated. In the forth stage, appraised indexes are calculated and provided to support the estimation of the generated gear drives.

Overview of Interface Engineering for Organic Solar Cells (유기태양전지 계면 기술 동향)

  • Among the next-generation solar cells, organic solar cells using organic materials are a key energy production device for the future energy generation devices, and have recently been receiving a lot of attention with rapid growth. To improve the efficiency of organic solar cells, interfacial engineering technology has been widely applied. In particular, it is widely used to improve device efficiency through energy level control by using interface engineering on the anode and cathode, which are positive electrodes, and to ultimately utilize interface engineering for tandem organic solar cells to derive excellent electrical and optical performance to produce high-performance devices. In this article, we will summarize and introduce recent research trends on interfacial engineering used in organic solar cells, and discuss the method of manufacturing high-performance organic solar cells.

A Preventive Maintenance Scheduling Model of the Cluster Tool (클러스터 툴의 예방유지보수 스케줄링 모형)

  • This paper considers the preventive maintenance scheduling problem of the cluster tool which is one of the most important manufacturing equipments in the next-generation semiconductor production environment. We define a random process that expresses the successive amount of chemicals accumulating inside the tool. Based on the renewal theory, we find the expected value and probability distribution of the time that the amount of accumulated chemicals exceeds a predetermined level. For a given probability that the accumulated chemicals exceeds the predetermined level we present a method to obtain the number of chamber operations to perform the preventive maintenance of that chamber. In addition, a method to get the preventive maintenance schedule for the whole cluster tool is presented. A numerical example is provided to illustrate our method.
