Design and Implementation of eRTOS Real-time Operating Systems for Wearable Computers (웨어러블 컴퓨터를 위한 저전력 실시간 운영체제 eRTOS 설계 및 구현)

  • In recent years, embedded systems have been expanding their application domains from traditional embedded systems such as military weapons, robots, satellites and digital convergence systems such as celluar phones, PMP(Portable Multimedia Player), PDAs(Personal Digital Assistants) to Next Generation Personal Computers(NGPCs) such as eating PCs, wearable computers. The NGPCs are network-based, human-centric digital information devices diverged from the traditional PCs used mainly for document writing, internet searching and database management. Wearable computers with battery capacity and memory size limitations have to use real-time operating systems with small footprints and low power management techniques to provide user's QoS in spite of hardware constraints. In this paper, we have designed and implemented a low-power RTOS (called eRTOS) for wearable computers. The implemented eRTOS has 18KB footprints and the dynamic power management and the device power management schemes are adapted in it. Experimental results with wearable computer applications show that the low power techniques could save energy up to 47 %.

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서의 차세대 PC는 다양한 입출력 장치를 이용하여 사용자에게 효과적으로 실제와 같은 정보를 제공하며, 사용자들의 편의를 고려해 웨어러블 형태의 플랫폼으로 발전하고 있다. 이러한 사용자 편의를 고려한 기술개발 동향(소형화, 경량화, 착용화)에 발맞추어 웨어러블 컴퓨팅 환경에서의 HCI 방안으로 음성 인식과 합성은 주요한 자리매김을 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는, 현재 정부에서 국가적인 차원으로 연구 개발 중인 차세대 PC 플랫폼 기반에서 음성합성 엔진을 구현하며, 구현상의 문제점 파악 및 개선사항에 대해 제안한다. 또한, 실질적인 구현 결과를 토대로 사용자 편의성 및 S/W 개발 환경을 고러한 차세대 PC플랫폼의 개선사항에 대해 제안을 한다.

  • Though the FTP(File Transfer Protocol) has been used widely and stable, It has the structural weakness that can't support current file transmissions so that we have to wait the completion of previous file transmission when try to transmit another file. If try to transmit multiple files concurrently using this FTP, It has to forking multiple FTP servers and clients in each user's PC and ISP's host machine it would result in the waist of memory, resource of network and the high workload of system. In order to solving previous problem, in this paper I have designed the new model of FTP which based on multi-thread and created NFTP(Next-Generation FTP)protocol so that may reduce the workload of system and support current file transmission effectively. I have implemented NFTP and also applied to real service, as a result It have provided reliable service by reducing the workload of system and saved the waiting time which would happened.

  • We researched economic efficiency and possibility of game portal service based PDA/Smart phone by popularize of next generation portable internet WiBro. PDA/Smart phone are difficult to equal level content service with PC, because of it has low CPU and memory than PC. This paper are implemented paper of integrated server of Cable or Wireless for WiBro contents. In this research, we implemented and show test result of CP killer contents in PDA. It can apply to WiBro portable internet and has required many functions in integrated server for cable or wireless. CP Killer contents for WiBro portable internet is developed by PC server base on Window XP. It can accept next generation wireless LAN, portable internet and ubiquitous issues. We expect activation of commercial use that WiBro contents and server trading.

  • 웨어러블 컴퓨터와 같은 차세대 PC의 진화 방향은 인간이 느끼는 색상, 빛의 밝기, 소리, 향기, 맛, 감촉 등의 오감 정보의 효과적인 융합과 재현 및 사용자 중심의 인간-기계 관계의 형성으로 정의 된다. 그러나, 기능의 다양함과는 별개로, 휴대의 편이를 위한 착용형태의 H/W 플랫폼 개발은 효율적인 5 감 정보의 융합 및 재현에 제약을 가하고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는, 현재 정부에서 국가적인 차원으로 현재 연구 개발중인 차세대 PC 플랫폼 기반에서의 효율적인 5 감 정보의 융합 및 재현이 가능한 S/W 플랫폼을 구현하며, 보다 효율적인 융합 및 재현을 위한 새로운 제어 메시지 형태를 제안한다.

Design of Next-Generation Ship Simulator System Using Virtual Reality (가상현실을 이용한 차세대 선박 시뮬레이터의 시스템 설계)

  • The paper describes system design of next-generation Ship Simulator using Virtual Reality (VRSS), well known as human-computer interaction. VRSS system is required to have special condition that comprises multiple user participants such as captain, officer, pilot, and quartermaster. To cope with that condition, core technologies were explored and proposed multi-networking system with broker server. The evaluation of the proposed system was done with PC-based immersion-type VR device, constituted with HMD (Head Mounted Display), Head Tracking Sensor, Puck, Headphone, and Microphone. Using the VR device, assessment test was carried out in a virtual bridge with 3D objects, which are created by VRML (Virtual Reality Model Language) program. As results of tests, it is shown that the cybernetic 3D objects were act as if real things in a real ship's bridge. Therefore, interesting interaction with participants can be obtained in the system, Thus, we found that the proposed system architecture can be applicable to VRSS system construction.

  • The paper describes a design process of the connection control function that performs overall procedures of optical network control system in the Next Generation - Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (NG-SDH) based transport system. Here, the NG-SDH means a new SDH technology that could perform automatic connection control with a granularity of VC-3 (about 50M) or VC-4 (about 150M) according to the increase and decrease of traffic, which is different from the existing technology that could perform connection control only with a granularity of a physical SDH link (STM-l, STM-4, STM-16, STM-64, STM-256 etc). The NG-SDH based connection control allows an ingress NG-SDH node to control the appropriate connection establishment process according to connection types such as Permanent Connection (PC), Soft Permanent Connection (SPC), Switched Connection (SC) over various SDH and Ethernet line cards.

  • Thanks to the spacial and timely flexibility of laboratory's environment, the distance learning based real time PLC education system has been brought into relief as a next generation laboratory alternative. The developed system was installed using a relatively cheap PLC and PC camera. Providing image feedback through the PC camera, the system provides the student's interests of the lab as well as an opportunity to monitor the lab's activities and results.
