The signal space diversity is one of the promising transmission techniques in next generation mobile TV service. However, DVB-T2 does not consider the multiple antennas (MIMO) so that the cyclic Q-delay method, a component interleaver in DVB-T2, causes a critical issue in detecting symbols at the receiver side by increasing the inter-symbol dependency. To solve this problem, the component-swapping technique is proposed, which limits the inter-symbol dependency in order to reduce detection complexity. In this paper, the achievable gain of a component-swapping technique combined with 16K LDPC code defined in DVB-T2 is evaluated by computer simulations. From the results, the gain is confirmed in terms of BER and receive complexity compared to legacy component interleaver methods.
With the growth of data communication service by mobile devices, WAP is proposed to efficiently access the Internet contents by user request through wireless condition that has a high error rate and mobility. But, because a transmission speed of WAP is limited, it takes many times to transmit and to receive the data. This paper has studied the WAP packet transmission time using WTP-SAR algorithm. As a method that is to improve transfer capability of WAP, using SAR function in WTP, total message down from upper layer has been fragmented and packet is transmitted through RLP frame time slot. Then, we have analyzed the transmission time of WAP packet with variable RLP layer size on the wireless CDMA network for next generation systems. From the results, we could obtain the WAP packet transmission time and optimal WTP packet size.

Resource reservation scheme is effective for better QoS guarantee to handover call for the next generation cellular systems where handover rate highly increases. However, resource reservation for handover call can incur negative impact on the new user admission. In this paper, we propose a random access based adaptive group-wise reservation to effectively reduce dropping rate of handover call, while protecting new local call. In the proposed scheme, target base station divides adaptively future handover users into groups based on the expected handover time, and then does group-wise reservation, where service allocation within each group is done on random access basis. Markov approach is also provided to analyze the performance of the proposed scheme. By computer simulation, it is shown that theoretical analysis on the performance is similar to the simulation results and the proposed reservation scheme outperforms the conventional scheme with respect to dropping probability of handover call.
AT-DMB system has been developed to increase data rate up to double of conventional T-DMB in same bandwidth while maintaining backward compatibility. The AT-DMB system adopted hierarchical modulation which adds BPSK signal or QPSK signal as enhanced layer to existing DQPSK signal. The enhanced layer signal should be small enough to maintain backward compatibility and to minimize the coverage loss of existing T-DMB service area. But this causes the enhanced layer signal of AT-DMB susceptible to fading effect in transmission channel. A turbo code which has powerful error correction capability is applied to the enhanced layer signal of the AT-DMB system for compensating channel distortion. We developed the prototype AT-DMB transmitter and receiver systems for performance evaluation. LAB test for analysing the effect of constellation ratio between existing base layer signal and enhancement layer signal, was conducted and the measurement results are shown with analysis comments.

Recently, to enhance the quality and efficiency of health care services, smart health care services utilizing a smart phone and tablet pc are mainly being introduced into the large hospital and the interest for personal health record service which manages personal medical information utilizing PC and smart phone and technology development is actively underway. In order to build a next generation hospital information systems, the interoperability of data between the different hospital information systems and UX consistency between the various user devices must be assured. Therefore, in this paper, medical information standard and the study for improving the performance is conducted to design the gateway system which converting and integrating the medical information under multi-platform environment. In this paper, CCR standard is adapted to the mapping method between the data which is the key feature of the gateway system and design the system utilizing multi-table-based mapping method. To evaluate the performance of the system, experiment was done and the result has been improved approximately 20 percent for response rate.

An abrupt increase of traffic-load in cellular CDMA systems can cause overload, as a result, degrade the quality of service (QoS) and the spectrum utilization due to lacking radio resources in base stations. In this paper, we propose a joint coverage and resource management (JCRM) scheme which can improve the QoS degradation and the spectrum utilization. The JCRM scheme hands over the overloaded traffic to neighboring cells by virtually reducing overloaded cell coverage and extending neighboring cell coverage, as well the scheme allocates radio resources based on the necessary handover probability. The proposed scheme can be applied to the existing cellular CDMA systems as well as adaptive coverage management schemes for next generation mobile communication systems.

In this paper, we propose a private multimedia caching scheme based on wireless local area network (WLAN) to improve the quality of service for high capacity and high quality multimedia streaming services which are recently increasing and to reduce the traffic load of core networks. The proposed caching scheme stores multimedia in the storage device mounted on WLAN APs and provides streaming services on its own without Internet connection in accordance with the request from clients. We have implemented a test network based on real commercial networks and measured the performance of the proposed caching scheme in terms of frames per second (FPS) and buffering time. According to the performance measurement results, the proposed caching scheme can reduce the average buffering time by 73.3% compared to the conventional streaming scheme. In addition, the proposed caching scheme can also improve the average FPS by 71.3% compared to the conventional streaming scheme.

Due to the fourth industrial revolution called 'fusion and connection', interest in 'high connectivity society' and 'highland society' is increasing, and related objects are not limited to automation and connected cars. The Internet of Things is the main concern of the 4th Industrial Revolution and it is expected to play an important role in establishing the basis of the next generation mobile communication service. Several domestic and foreign companies have been studying various types of LPWANs for the construction of the Internet based on things, and there is Semtech's LoRaWAN technology as representative. LoRaWAN is a long-distance, low-power network designed to manage a large number of devices and sensors, with communications from hundreds to thousands to thousands of devices and sensors. In this paper, we analyze the optimum node capacity of gateway for maximum performance while reducing resource waste in using LoRaWAN.

Smart Railway as a next generation railway technology is expected to have rapid evolution with developments of information and communications tehchology. Especially, smart railway will be progressed more evolved transportation means for railway operation and costomer service based with spread of commercial 5G communication. So, it is very important to investigate and analyze trends of smart railway related tehcnology of 5G mobile communication for samrt railway infra structure, server technolgy for AI, big data, deep learning, information security technology, sensor and IoT. In this paper, 5G based communicaion technology and application techology related smart railway is described and trends of new techlogy on this communication tehnology is investigated. The results of this study can be used for smart railway study and implementation, research and development for smart railway communicaion technology, etc.
This paper compares transport overhead of MPEG-2 TS, MMT and ROUTE in order to compare transport efficiency between the DTV and UHDTV. The MPEG-2 TS standard, widely used, was established for multiplexing and synchronizing encoded audio and video, additional information. In recent years, MMT and ROUTE was established as a next generation multimedia transport standard for the new broadcasting communication environment. In this paper, we compare and analyze transport overhead about three protocol. In order to analysis, we captured the UHD A/V stream in real-time broadcasting service using ROUTE and MMT, and we calculated and analyzed transport overhead using the overhead analysis program which was developed in our laboratory. Furthermore, for comparison under the same conditions, we assumed the MPEG-2 TS stream by extracting ES of UHD A/V stream based on the DTV standard. In this paper, we show the results of protocol transport efficiency in case of basic A/V stream except for additional services. And result show that MMT and ROUTE have similar overhead and MPEG-2 TS is relatively small overhead. However, since MPEG-2 TS result does not consider null packets, it is expected that the relative overhead difference will be reduced.
