  • Ciliates are unicellular eukaryotes and one of the most abundant and speciose protistan groups. However, their diversity is underestimated, and many new species are waiting for our discovery. During several field surveys conducted from 2018 to 2021 to document indigenous Korean ciliates, 10 unrecorded ciliate species were collected and investigated from freshwater, marine, and semiterrestrial habitats. The morphology of these species was studied based on observation of living and protargol-stained specimens. These species belong to five classes as follows: 1) class Heterotrichea - Peritromus faurei; 2) class Spirotrichea - Heterotachysoma dragescoi, Pseudokeronopsis parasongi, and Certesia quadrinucleata; 3) class Nassophorea - Chilodontopsis depressa; 4) class Prostomatea - Plagiocampa rouxi and Urotricha furcata; and 5) class Oligohymenophorea - Metanophrys similis, Uronema gallicum, and Protocyclidium citrullus. Also, we provide a brief diagnosis, photomicrographs, and information of the locality for each species. Further, we compare each species with the most recent description and with similar congeners.

  • In this study, the conceptual foundation and development process of the Antecedent soil Moisture Condition(AMC) in SCS runoff curve number method are reviewed. Although the runoff volume is very sensitive with AMC condition, the AMC class limits developed in SCS(1972) are used in rainfall-runoff analysis without careful consideration. Tn this study, following the SCS curve number development process, rainfall-runoff characteristics of the Jang-Pyung subbasin subject to the Pyung-Chang River basin are analyzed to evaluate the reasonability of the AMC class limits at present. The New AMC class limits are proposed by the sensitive analysis of the antecedent rainfall - curve number value. As a result, the classification value of AMC-I with II is 22mm of antecedent 5-day rainfall amount, and the classification of AMC-II with III is 117mm in growing season. When the New AMC class limits are applied to Jang-Pyung subbasin, AMC probability distribution shows that the AMC-II has increased remarkably even though the AMC-I has a little higher value. But the AMC-III has the smallest one. According to the conceptual basis of the curve number method, the AMC probability distribution, the New AMC class limits adopted, gives reasonable results.

  • A new class of smoothing functions is introduced in this paper, which includes some important smoothing complementarity functions as its special cases. Based on this new smoothing function, we proposed a smoothing Newton method. Our algorithm needs only to solve one linear system of equations. Without requiring the nonemptyness and boundedness of the solution set, the proposed algorithm is proved to be globally convergent. Numerical results indicate that the smoothing Newton method based on the new proposed class of smoothing functions with ${\theta}{\in}(0,1)$ seems to have better numerical performance than those based on some other important smoothing functions, which also demonstrate that our algorithm is promising.

  • When the class is added of deleted in object-oriented system, restructuring of class hierarchy is needed which enables new relationship with classes. But existing system requires much additional analysis costs because it is difficult to know the meaning between parent class and child class. This paper presents the updates method based on semantic modification through new relationship classification method. This method measures the similarity of classes and based on it's relationship, this method restructures class hierarchy by classifying not-equality, part-of, equality, inclusion, subset relation. This method can minimize the probability of meaning error for classes when the class hierarchy is changed. Also this enhances the reusability and understandability through various graphic and text processing.

  • The class of Dynamic Positioning System is divided in 3 classes depending on its redundancy and reliability according to IMO and classification society. There are 3 DP classes such as DP Class 1, 2 and 3 according to IMO MSC/Circ. 645. Higher DP class vessel has higher reliability, since redundancy concept is applied to the DP vessel depending on its DP class and can operate more safely. There are not enough information about DP class notation, which are needed when a company builds a new or buys second hand DP vessel or modifies DP classes, even the Korean shipyard is building a lot of DP vessels now. Also, the practical case of DP vessel modification, which had been done in Korea, to meet DP notation of IMO and classification society, will be helpful for DP vessel modification and sales industry development in Korea as a new business. As such this research identified what kind of requirements need to be taken into account to be from DP class 1 to DP class 2. The real DP class modification case is used to identify the requirements of DP class upgrade. Through the FMEA the redundancy concept on power system, thruster system and DP control system need to apply for DP class upgrade. The power system have to keep its DP function even if just a single fault happens on the generator or switchboard. Also, the PMS is required to monitor and control power system. Ship's Surge, Sway and Yaw movements can be controlled by the remaining thruster system after a single thruster fails. Lastly, multiple installation of PRS, sensors and DP control system are required to keep DP ability after a single fault on the DP control systems.

  • We show in many cases that the Siegel-Ramachandra invariants generate the ray class fields over imaginary quadratic fields. As its application we revisit the class number one problem done by Heegner and Stark, and present a new proof by making use of inequality argument together with Shimura's reciprocity law.

  • Class components in a repository require exact information representation by reason of insufficiency of various visual information through search and extraction. In this paper, we have described syntax-analysis method and viewer facilities about class components. In the components analysis, we extracted class information which consists of class_names, methods, attributes, class inheritance relationship, and graphic information. viewer represents extracted class information and creates a new class. Also, it provides facilities of reuse, insertion, and deletion. Not only Viewer represents class hierarchy diagram, and shows detail information about each class, but also it creates new classes. In this paper, we implemented a Viewer using the components, inheritance, diagram information and process. And we enhanced understanding of programs through viewer, and supported prototype for class creation.

  • In this paper, we introduce and investigate a new class of generalized polynomials associated with Hermite-Bernoulli polynomials of higher order. This generalization is a unification formula of Bernoulli numbers, Bernoulli polynomials, Hermite-Bernoulli polynomials of Dattoli, generalized Hermite-Bernoulli polynomials for two variables of order α and new other families of polynomials depending on any generating function f.
