  • Traditionally, Geographical Information Systems can only process spatial data in a procedure-oriented way, and the data can't be treated integrally. This method limits the development of spatial data applications. A new and promising method to solve this problem is the spatial structural query language, which extends SQL and provides integrated accessing to spatial data. In this paper, the theory of spatial structural query language is discussed, and a new geographical data model based on the concepts and data model in OGIS is introduced. According to this model, we implemented a spatial structural query language G/SQL. Through the studies of the 9-Intersection Model, G/SQL provides a set of topological relational predicates and spatial functions for GIS application development. We have successfully developed a Web-based GIS system-WebGIS-using G/SQL. Experiences show that the spatial operators G/SQL offered are complete and easy-to-use. The BNF representation of G/SQL syntax is included in this paper.

  • A GIS software GEO Millennium SystemTM has been developed to integrated with spatial database that combines conventional and spatially related data. As we known well the standard query language lacks the support of spatial data type and predicate, and can not serve as the query language in the spatial database directly; some extended strategies have been proposed, but some of them need their own storage manager, some introfuce new clause into the SELECT-FROM-WHERE structure, and some is very complex and available to us. So we designed our own query language on the conventional storage manager system. It supports the Spatial Data Type and predicate, and provides the full query capabilities of SQL on the non-spatial part of the database while being tightly integrated with the spatial part, without changing the standard SQL structure.

  • This paper proposes a geospatial data visualization system supporting validation of GML documents. GIS systems manage and use both of spatial and non-spatial data. Currently, most GIS systems represent spatial data in GML (Geography Markup Language) developed by OGC. GML is a language for representation and sharing of spatial information, and until now many systems have been developed in GML. GML does not support expression of non-spatial data, i.e., relational information of spatial objects, and thus most systems extend GML to describe non-spatial information. However, it causes an issue that the systems only accepting standard GML documents cannot process the extended documents. In this paper, we propose a new GIS data visualization system to resolve the aforementioned Issue. Our proposed system allows the representation of both types of data supporting independency of spatial data and non-spatial data. It enhances interoperability with other relevant systems. Therefore, we can develop a rich and high Quality geospatial information services.

  • The represented Design Language have to include design meaning by functions in Interior. It also is able to easy and quick to understand in conversation for the design proposal. In this study, 6 stages suggest for the basic forming image in Interior Design. Those are form, line, space, color, material and principles of design. And essential image language arranged by preceding research. The fundamental 6 elements of space are used for explanation with the minimum method to make consumer understand through some image. Image has the communication function as a visual conversation in Space Design. The purpose of using the image language is the exchange into communication by written visual image. In order to it is necessary to delivery correct meaning of Interior Design for the understand between consumer and designer for the suggestion through images. Therefore, making categories for representation-language from image features of interior design is a important research with the value to share the spatial pattern. It will be expected to add the spatial Image language by processing with new trend.

  • In the face of the new dimension of the developed technology $L{\acute{a}}szl{\acute{o}}$ Moholy-Nagy, a master of 'the Bauhaus Akademie', made an effort to constitute the integrated life of the intellectual and the emotional by translating the experiences of the new technology Into the emotional language and the cultural realities. As an artist who criticized in the constructivist ethos the conception of the image as the imitation and brought the Image movements into relief Moholy-Nagy groped for a new expressive idea that can be called as 'the idea of the non-representational spatial expression' in which the expressive elements interact one another. His idea of the non-representational spatial expression that is made up of the pure forms of the nature, the direct colors and the spatial elements is oriented to incorporate the modern realities, i.e. the space experiences as the complicated sensory workings and the new technology as the measure of the human thinking, and further to see where they will move to. This study is on the one hand purposed to explicate the fundamental idea of the non-representational spatial expression that was poorly illuminated in spite of its importance in the respects of the design and art history, on the other to re-actualize the implications of the space-design which are contained in it.

  • The modes of narratives and communication have expanded due to social and cultural changes and technological development. Thus texts have become multimodal and media hybridities and media crossover have been increasing as well. Multimodality requires new literacy to understand and interpret those multimodal texts other than existing traditional literacy approaches. The New London Group (2000) argues that multiliteracies are needed to serve today's changing multimodal texts. Kress (2003) also argues, visual texts have been prevailing, being mingled with other modes of texts such as linguistic, audio, gestural, and spatial modes. Literary texts are not exception in this trend of multimodality. The recent renaissance of comics, in particular, the new light on graphic novels can be interpreted in this historical vein. In comparison to comics, no consensus has been made in defining graphic novels, however, many studies have been recently conducted in order to look into the potential of graphic novels in building multiliteracies. In this paper, the graphic novel as a literary genre are explored from a histocial perspective and the definition of graphic novels was attempted to be made. In the light of multiliteracies, this paper presented cases that show how graphic novels can be utilized to build multiliteracies. Lastly, the use of graphic novels for English as a foreign language was introduced as well. The author hopes that at the age of multimodality, the potential graphic novels have in language and literacy education can be taken into account by language teachers and students in expanding their territory of literacy.

  • The spationtemporal databases support a historical informations as well as spatial managements for various kinds of objects in the real world, and can be efficiently used in many applications such as geographic information system, urban plan system, car navigation system. However it is difficult to represent efficiently historical operations with conventional database query language for spatial objects. In terms of cost for query processing, it also degenerates performance of query processing because of syntactic limitations which is innate in conventional query representation. So in this paper, we introduce a new query language, entitled as STQL, which has been extended on the basis of the most popular relational database query language SQL. And we implement as well as evaluate a spationtemporal query processing system that get a query written by STQL and then process it in a main memory.

  • Detecting visual relationships in an image is important in an image understanding task. It enables higher image understanding tasks, that is, predicting the next scene and understanding what occurs in an image. A visual relationship comprises of a subject, a predicate, and an object, and is related to visual, language, and spatial cues. The predicate explains the relationship between the subject and object and can be categorized into different categories such as prepositions and verbs. A large visual gap exists although the visual relationship is included in the same predicate. This study improves upon a previous study (that uses language cues using two losses) and a spatial cue (that only includes individual information) by adding relative information on the subject and object of the extant study. The architectural limitation is demonstrated and is overcome to detect all zero-shot visual relationships. A new problem is discovered, and an explanation of how it decreases performance is provided. The experiment is conducted on the VRD and VG datasets and a significant improvement over previous results is obtained.

  • The spatiotemporal databases support historical informations as well as spatial managements for the objects in the real world, and can be efficiently used to various applications such as geographic information system, urban plan system, car navigation system. Although there are so far several pioneering works in spatioemporal data modeling, it is little to study on spatiotemporal query language. So in this paper, we at first survey a modeling technique that makes spatiotemporal objects into databases, and then show some sighificant functions supported by query language. Also we suggest a new spatiotemporal database query language, entitled as STQL, which make users to enable to manage efficient historical information as well as spatial management function on the basis of relational query language, SQL. Also the proposed STQL, shows their operationsl in spatiotemporal daabases.
