In respond to climate change caused by global environmental problems, countries around the world are actively promoting the advancement of new electricity industries. The new energy business is being applied to energy storage systems (ESS), electric vehicle charging business, and power demand response using cutting edge technologies. In 2022, the Korean government is also establishing a policy stance to foster new energy industries and making efforts to improve its responsiveness to power demand response with the innovative technologies. In Korea, attempts to commercialize energy power are also being made in the private and public sectors to control energy power in houses, buildings, and industries. For example, private companies, local governments, and central government are making all-out efforts to develop new energy industry models through joint investment. There are forms such as establishing energy-independent facilities by region, establishing an electric vehicle charging system, controlling urban lighting systems with Information technologies, and managing demand between power suppliers and power consumers. This study examined the business model applied with energy storage system, electric vehicle charging business, smart lighting, and power demand response based on information communication technology to examine the site where smart energy system was introduced. According to this study, company missions and government tasks are suggested to apply new energy business technologies as economical energy solutions that meet the purpose of use by region, industry, and company.
In terms of the vehicle efficiency, a fuel cell hybrid system has advantages compared to a conventional internal combustion engine and a fuel cell alone-powered system. The efficiency of the fuel cell hybrid vehicle mainly depends on the maximum power of the fuel cell and therefore it is important to decide the design value of the fuel cell maximum power. In this paper, to estimate the performance of the fuel cell hybrid mini-bus in the design phase the simulator based on the models for the fuel cell stack, the electric battery, the fuel cell balance of plant, the controller, and the vehicle itself is proposed. Additionally, the hybrid mini-bus efficiencies with several different fuel cell powers are simulated for a city driving schedule and are compared on another. Consequently, the proposed simulation scheme is useful to determine the best design value of the fuel cell hybrid vehicles.
Vibration of railway vehicle has harmful effect to dynamic performances of railway represented to stability, safety and ride comfort. Hence reduction of vibration has been discussed as an important problem and has been widely investigated. A new technology of vibration control, energy regenerative control, is introduced. Energy regenerative damper using this new vibration control converts vibration energy into other kind of energy that we can utilize. In this paper, this energy regenerative damper is applied to the dynamic absorber and vehicle suspension. And it is evaluated whether the energy regenerative railway vehicle suspension is possible.
In order to deploy the large-scale energy storage (ES) service in the various industry, it is very important to develop a business model with high technological and economic feasibility through detailed valuation of cost and expected benefits. In relation to this, this paper established an optimal scheduling plan for electric vehicle charging stations connected with photovoltaic (PV) and ES technologies in Korea using the distributed energy resource valuation tool and analyzed the feasibility of the project. In addition, the impact of incentives such as REC (Renewable Energy Certificate) to be given to electric vehicle charging stations in accordance with the relevant laws to be revised in the future was analyzed. As a results, the methodology presented in this paper are expected to be used in various ways to analyze the feasibility of various business models linked to renewable energy and ES technologies as well as the electric vehicle market.
In recent, there are tremendous requirements to improve the fuel economy of vehicle. For satisfaction of requirements, Hybrid Electric Vehicle or other technologies are suggested and implemented. However, it should be noted that almost 35% energy loss is occurred in the shape of exhaust gas as ever. For increase the efficiency of vehicle, it is certain that the exhaust gas energy should be recover, and generate energy. In previous studies, the technologies such as turbo-compound, thermoelectric and rankine cycle are suggested to recover the exhaust heat energy in vehicle. But, they focus on the conventional vehicle or parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicle. Series Hybrid Electric Vehicle has advantage that the engine and drive shaft are de-coupled. It means that the engine can be operated in high efficiency area regardless with vehicle states. Therefore, if rankine cycle is applied to series hybrid electric vehicle, operating condition of that becomes almost steady. So, in this study, theoretical analysis on the efficiency of rankine cycle applied to series hybrid electric city bus is carried and the energy recovered from exhaust gas during vehicle drive cycle is calculated.
In the ongoing debates over the need to identify new sources of energy and to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases. Hydrogen has emerged as one of the most promising alternatives due to its emissions from the vehicle being virtually zero. The governments have identified the development of regulations and standards as one of the key requirements for commercialization of HFCV. Regulations and standards will help overcome technological barriers to commercialization. The development of Global Technical Regulation (GTR) for HFCV occurred under the World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations. Development of a technique for safety assessment of HFCV include four tasks, research for regulation system and policy, hydrogen safety, vehicle operation safety and protection against high-voltage. The objective is to establish a technique for safety assessment and amend safety standards for HFCV and consequently reflect research results to vehicle management policy. We devised safety standards and evaluation techniques with regard to high-pressure gas and high voltage of hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. KMVSS for HFCV was amended to June 10, 2014. including the results of the safety assessment technology for high-voltage and hydrogen characteristics.
The performance improvement of each part for durability, safety and cost of high pressure storage system for fuel cell vehicle has been focused so far. However, for the mass production of fuel cell vehicle, it is necessary to evaluate durability and safety in system module and vehicle level. The test procedure to evaluate vibration and collision safety of high pressure hydrogen storage system for the fuel cell vehicle is established and its reliability is verified.
The regulation of the $CO_2$ emit from vehicles have become much more stringent in recent years. This stringent regulation is more request vehicle manufacturers to develop the alternative fuel vehicles for reducing exhaust emissions. LPG fuel is more clean energy compares with gasoline and diesel fuel. Especially, $CO_2$ emission of LPG Vehicle is less than gasoline vehicle and almost equal to diesel vehicle. For this reason, recently korean government is extending LPG fuel for hybrid car and light duty vehicle. In domestic, Propane is mixing $15{\sim}30%$ to butane for improvement of cold start at winter season. Therefore, In this paper was investigated that the characteristics of emissions according to propane mixing rate with 0, 10, 20, 30% were compared and analyzed by the vehicle test using LPG vehicle according to the FTP75 mode. It was also investigated the characteristics of nano-particle emit with propane mixing rate.
Whilst vehicle-to-every (V2X) is still at a research and development phase, we are nearing the point when this technology could begin to enter in commercial mass markets. However, this transition is unlikely to happen until a number of issues have been resolved which currently hinder the developing of V2X technology and its capacity to provide value to end-users and other actors. This roadmap has set out plan for how these issues may be overcome, based on eight key goals that the automotive industry, network operators and policy makers should aim to achieve. Suggestions for near-term activities that may be carried out towards meeting these goals have also been identified.
The interest of New Renewable Energy is increasing globally because of the increment of the uncertainty for the energy's supply and demand, and the increment of the frequency in weather anomaly and its damages. One of the New Renewable Energies, Hydrogen receives attention as the future energy that can deal with global environment regulation. Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) is an environment-friendly vehicle that uses Hydrogen as fuel. The electric power for FCEV is generated by chemical reaction with Oxygen from the air and Hydrogen. Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) has developed a proprietary fuel cell system since 2005. In 2012, HMC is the first car maker that mass-produces the ix35 FCEV to the worldwide such as North America, Europe, etc. In order to develop and improve the FCEV technology, data acquisition and analysis of the driving vehicle information is essential. Therefore, the monitoring system is developed, which is consist of datalogger, Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) server and main server. Especially, WCDMA technology is integrated into the system which enables the data analysis without any restriction of time and region. The main function of the system is the analysis of the driving pattern and the component durability, and the safety monitoring. As a result, ix35 FCEV has successfully developed by using the developed monitoring system. The system is going to take an advantage of development in the future FCEV technology.
