이토 도요 공간 디자인에 나타난 감성적 표현 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Emotional Characteristics expressed in Toyo Ito's Design Works)

  • Despite the advancement of knowledge and techniques, architectural design has been developed by similar method and science as the logical tool since the development of Le Corbusier's 'module'. However, in the new millenium emotional design has become a key issue and today is the turning point regarding new method for designing human space. While architecture discipline of the West focused on logic, Japan based its origin in eastern discipline has developed a unique design concept called 'metabolism' and advanced it very effectively. Since its development of the unique concept, Toyo Ito has become one of the most Influential architect in and out of Japan who devoted his design career in developing new space concept. This study is specifically focused on Ito's project by finding characteristics of his projects and analyze emotional design factors by using 5 analytical tool - experiencing the space, five senses, landmark, sequence, and scale. Ito's work between 2000-2004, such as Sendai Mediatheque, showed more visible sign of emotional design characteristics compared to the works done in 1990's. Because of the analytical studies researching those emotional design characteristics and methods, the future advancement in new space design will be possible with great success. The result proves that continuing proper analysis and research in design method will assist in approaching new space design method into more advanced realm in very efficient time period with more definite design elements to accomodate and fulfill human needs in given space.

작업안전성 향상을 위한 신개념 VDT 작업용 의자의 인간공학적 설계 (Design of a New-Concept VDT Workstation Chair for Improving Work Safety)

  • A new-concept VDT workstation chair with adjustable keyboard/mouse support was proposed to minimize physical discomfort and the risk of cumulative trauma disorders (CTDs) at work sites in this study. First, a three-dimensional human modeling tool $(SAFEWORK^{(R)})$ was used to design the new chair satisfying the anthropometric specifications of Korean population. Second, based upon the result of 3-D graphical simulation, a mock-up chair was constructed with an adjustable keyboard/mouse support directly attached to the chair body. Third, muscle fatigue and subjective discomfort were measured to evaluate the newly developed chair. An experiment was conducted to compare the new workstation chair to the traditional computer chair without keyboard/mouse support. Six volunteer subjects participated in six one-hour word-processing sessions with two different chairs and three different postures. Statistical results indicate that the new-concept VDT chair generally improved subjective comfort level and reduced fatigue in finger flexor/extensor and low back muscle. In conclusion, this new VDT workstation chair is expected to reduce physical discomfort and prevent occupational CTD problems in the long run. Implications of the new design and suggestions for the further development are also addressed.

  • The commerce space of today knew and simply in the space where it creates only space of the profit creation which leads a business the hay to reflect the sensitivity of the consumer new consuming culture trend it changed. It is a new trend it creates and it leads to sprout trend consumer class of leader trend(Trend Setter) as it does. This restaurant is one type of food culture which is various brunch it does with the important menu which it will pay. This design concept and one design inside the vigor garage side which reflects and to sleep the design concept which the traditional France restaurant has and has a discrimination from the plan which it sees and it applies new food culture it develops it does. Existing the reel rear design tendency which specialty restaurant is investigation it arranged the design discrimination strategy which is the possibility the shop which it tries to analyze having.

상업공간 실내에서 표현되는 비물질적 특성에 관한 연구 - 2000년 이후의 국내 식음공간을 중심으로 - (A Study on Characteristic of Immateriality in Commercial Interior Space - Focused on Restaurant and Bar in Korea since 2000 -)

  • This study focuses on defining the new meaning of immateriality in the present times expressed on space. The purposes of this study were to examine the characteristics of immateriality showed in commercial interior design in Korea, based on the definition of immateriality concept and the analysis of the way it is expressed. The result of this study is as follows; it categorized characteristic of material expression, space concept and media. Characteristic elements can be classified into 6: transparency, implication, off-gravitation, ambiguity of boundary, temporality, interactivity. Expression of immateriality in commercial interior space was obtained in many different ways, which are identified: new expression of material by reduction of materiality, leveling of transparency, expression of floating status, changeable image, illusion effect, blurring boundary. Immateriality is deeply associated with the elements such as surface, material, media, light, and movement. So it is being recognized as an important design concept in today's pluralist society and will play an important role within the design paradigms for the future.

선박 초기설계에 FBS 설계 모델의 응용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Application of FBS Design Model to Preliminary Ship Design)

  • The design process becomes more difficult due to the increasing complexity of products. Thus, without any proper design experience, designer cannot handle his design problems systematically. Besides, the conventional optimal design method cannot be used effectively at the early design stage, since most design problems must be formulated in terms of objective and constraint functions based on the mathematical concepts of Operation Research. Thus, in this paper, new design concept based on FBS (Function-Behavior-Structure) design model is introduced to help the novice designer formulate the complex design problems systematically into a mathematical form. In this FBS model, function means the designer's new intents designer wants to create for, structure stand for a final product configuration and behaviour is a product's performance. FBS design model is thus rather totally different concept used for formulating design problem, compared with conventional optimal design method. To validate this new FBS model, 330K VLCC design case is performed, and we found, though it is one design example case, that this new design concept could be effectively used for future ship design problems since, during the formulating design problem, the only engineering terminology such as function, structure, and behaviour of design product is used based on the engineering concepts, instead of mathematical terminology such as objective and constraints.

  • Every car manufacturer desires to reduce the new car development time spent in improving the safety, NVH, lightweight, reliability and environment friendly features of the car. Other considerations such as planning, exterior and interior styling, packaging, color, and material selection increase the complexity of the car design process. This paper proposes a personal DDP (Digital Design Process) to utilize the engineering analysis and design/styling software for car design. DDP can be efficiently used by a team of car research center or a studio with small number of engineers, helping ordinary engineers becoming ambidextrous in design as well as engineering applications. The concept model starts from idea sketch, rendering, and 3D surface model with CAS (Computer Aided Styling) to the final safety estimation by using proposed DDP based on engineering technology (CAD, CAE). The concept model proposed a hydrogen fuel cell sports coupe which could be available within next 10 years. The proposed DDP can not only reduce the new car development time but also be adapted into designing of varied products such as aircraft, yacht, electrical equipment and sports gear.

유기체 생명감각을 연상시키는 실내공간 재료 표현에 관한 연구 (The Study on Material Expression of Interior Design to image the Sense of Being Alive)

  • The space can recognize by experience of sense, the each space to make identity through this. The contemporary architecture make possible an experience of sense through a complex paradigm and a composite concept expression. The material is not the assist to make a form, but to induce an image and an emotion of designers. The new material make possible the different design expression and the new aesthetic value. The appearance of difference material means the possibility to realize a designer's concept. The purpose of the study Is to analyze the new possibility of material expression through the study on material expression of interior design to associate the sense of being alive, to use basic data of the relation the material and the creativity. The study range is to define the sense of being alive, to image expression of material. It is to analyze the expression method of materials through to analyze the contemporary interior design. The expression method of materials to image the sense of being alive is direct and indirect and compromise. The interior design is visually to realize designer's concept, and the interior designer has to realize their it. The later study is on detail of material, in order to realize of material.

  • Design has been proceeding to 21 century undertaking the many-sided and complicated characteristics of the modern industrialized society much more heavily comparing to past. The rapid change of technology and media of communication faces the new concept of relationship between users and environment, and newly developed material leads designers to change the way of building concept and the process of designing. Especially the important points of user-friendly and environment-friendly approaching for designing influences over choosing, controlling meterials and forming the structure and shape organically, or simply. From the tendency of chairs designed in 1990s the very adaptable new material shows both the unlimited possibility for new design is in the turn of this century, but also it can be analogized that 'the design which can make users think' will be the philosophical basis for future desigv.

공원이용자의 설계개념과 설계전략에 대한 인식이 공원 만족도에 미치는 영향 - 광교신도시의 근린공원을 대상으로 - (The Influence of Park Users' Cognition about the Park Design Concept and Strategy to Satisfaction - A Case Study of the Neighborhood Parks of Gwanggyo New Town -)

  • 본 연구는 광교신도시의 도시공원을 대상으로, 공원이용자들의 설계개념 인지정도와 설계개념이 적용된 공간에 대한 만족도를 조사하고, 설계개념이 만족도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하였다. 이에 센트럴마운틴공원과 호수공원을 대상으로 이용자의 특성, 공원시설에 대한 중요도 - 만족도, 공원의 선호도 - 만족도를 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 도출한 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 공원이용자의 특성을 분석한 결과, 두 공원 모두 일반적으로 가족단위의 이용객이 많았다. 둘째, 산책로가 시설의 중요도와 만족도에서 가장 높은 평가를 받았다. 셋째, 두 공원 전반적인 만족도는 모두 높게 나타났으나, 공원이용자들의 설계인식과 유의한 관계가 나타나지 않았다. 넷째, 공원이용자의 공간별 인식정도와 만족도를 분석한 결과, 두 공원의 설계개념과 설계전략에 대한 인식은 5점 리커드 척도에서 평균 3점 이상으로 높은 정도를 보였다. 하지만, 이용자의 인식정도와 공간별 만족도는 유의한 관계라고 정의하기는 어려웠다. 따라서 본 연구를 통해서 공원이용에 있어 전반적인 만족도에는 설계인식에 대한 인지정도가 거의 영향을 미치지 않는다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 오히려 공간에 대한 이용자의 개인적인 선호도와 만족도가 더 큰 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 반면, 조사대상지의 계절별 조사가 미흡했다는 점과 대상지가 좀 더 다양하지 못한 한계성을 가지고 있으나, 도시공원의 대표공원이라 할 수 있는 근린공원과 수변공원을 대상으로 공원이용자의 만족도에 설계자의 설계개념과 설계전략이 어느 정도 영향을 미치는지 조사하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

  • A contemporary office space is changed by the transformation to an information-oriented society from an industrial society. A contemporary office space is recognized as an interactional space which is more of a mental and psychological space than a physical space. I studied the basic concept of an office space and the relationship of a social change and an office space on this study. I also studied the concept of an ubiquitous computing and the relationship of an ubiquitous computing and an office space. Through this study, we can establish the new concept of an office space to be applied to an ubiquitous concept. The ubiquitous concept of an office space will be brought into a new prototype of an office space, and then there is no more important to a physical place and time. The office space must be redesigned by an ubiquitous space nowadays.
