  • Objectives : This study was designed to investigate the usability of IVA + Plus (Continuous Performance Test) and Neuro-Guide [Quantitative electroencephalography (EEG) normative database] as an auxiliary diagnostic tools for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Methods : The scores of IVA + Plus and resting EEG were obtained from 34 elementary school-aged children. Also, the Korean ADHD Rating Scale (K-ARS) and the Diagnostic Interview Schedule for Children version IV (DISC-IV) was done for the parent of them. From the result of the DISC-IV, we divided them into three groups, ADHD Not Otherwise Specified (NOS), and Normal Control (NC). Using NeuroGuide, the z-scores of relative power for delta (1-4 Hz), theta (4-8 Hz), alpha (8-12 Hz), and beta (12-25 Hz) were calculated. Then the correlation and variance analysis were done to investigate the differences between three groups. Results : The scores of IVA + Plus were negatively correlated with the K-ARS. IVA + Plus have successfully discriminated the ADHD from NC and NOS. The z-scores of relative power of delta and theta were positively correlated with the K-ARS. The z-scores of relative power of alpha and beta were negatively correlated with the K-ARS. Conclusions : The IVA + Plus and NeuroGuide QEEG test are expected to be used as the valuable tools for diagnosing ADHD accurately.

  • Aluminum Stranded Conductors Steel Reinforced (ACSR) in overhead transmission lines have slowly degraded due to pollutants in the air for a long period of time, so in the 2000, a number of them has been exceeded over their forecasted useful life. Since most of them are faced with assessment their present conditions in regard to economical maintenance, in this paper, we have suggested a method in order to evaluate the current condition of aged conductors by using dominant parameters such as elapsed years, environment index, and conductor configuration. A diagnostic system for predicting the deterioration grades corresponding to the lifetime of aged conductors is described, which is designed as an Adaptive Neuro-fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) based on knowledge and experiences of experts. Applying this diagnostic system to practical transmission lines in domestic, it is shown that the system can be effectively used as a guide to perform nondestructive diagnosis and economical operation for old ACSR conductors.

  • Intelligent Wearable Module is intelligent system that arises when a human is part of the feedback loop of a computational process like a certain control system. Applied system is mobile robot. This paper represents the mobile robot control system remote controlled by Intelligent Wearable Module. So far, owing to the development of 802.l1b technologies, lots of remote control methods through internet have been proposed. To control a mobile robot through internet and guide it under unknown environment. The information about the direction and velocity of the mobile robot feedbacks to the PDA and the PDA send new control method produced from the combination of Neuro and Hierarchical Fuzzy Algorithm

  • In this paper, the Intelligent Space (iSpace) concept is applied for helping disabled or blind persons in crowded environments such as train stations, or airports. The main contribution of this paper is a general mathematical (fuzzy-neuro) description of obstacle avoidance method (walking habit) of moving objects (human beings) in a limited area scanned by the iSpace. A mobile robot with extended functions is introduced as a Mobile Assistant Robot which is assisted by the iSpace. The Mobile Assistant Robot (MAR) can guide and protect a blind person in a crowded environment with the help of the Intelligent Space. The prototype of the Mobile Assistant Robot and simulations of some basic types of obstacle avoidance method (walking habit) are presented.

  • The pupillary size and movement are controlled dynamically by the autonomic nervous system; the parasympathetic system constricts the iris, while the sympathetic system dilates the iris. Under normal conditions, these constrictions and dilations occur identically in both eyes. Asymmetry in the pupillomotor neural input or output leads to impaired pupillary movement on one side and an unequal pupil size between both eyes. Anisocoria is one of the most common signs in neuro-ophthalmology, and the neurological disorders that frequently cause anisocoria include serious diseases, such as vascular dissection, fistula, and aneurysm. A careful history and examination can identify and localize pupillary disorders and provide a guide for appropriate evaluations.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of agarwood (Thymelaeaceae) inhalation using an electric incense burner on stress and brain waves. Sixteen participants were included in the study during the period from September 2019 to April 2020. Participant recruitment was undertaken by the 'H' center. This paper focused on stress reduction and compared the differences in stress and brain waves before and after agarwood inhalation using an electric incense burner. Electroencephalography was measured by a 19 Channel, Brainmaster Discovery, and analyzed using a NeuroGuide, LORETA (Brain Mapping). The analysis of technical statistics was carried out using SPSS/WIN 21.0 and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The study observed that the stress response index was reduced by a significance level of 0.01 in patients with anxiety, depression, and somatization disorders after agarwood inhalation. Secondly, alpha waves were increased by a significance level of 0.05, in 18 out of 19 regions measured, except FP 1. The difference after agarwood inhalation was the most significant in the region that affects emotion. Thirdly, a LORETA analysis found that alpha waves were increased in the brain region (BA 40) predominantly responsible for memory and emotion. This result clarifies that agarwood inhalation using an electric incense burner reduced stress and had a positive effect on brain waves and hence, has potential as an alternative therapy.

  • Objectives : To present rough guide for the proper use of Lycii Fructus and Chrysanthemum indicum on ophthalmic patients. Methods : Traditional medical classics(本草綱目, 銀海精微, 秘傳眼科龍木論, 東醫寶鑑) and recent studies for Lycii Fructus and Chrysanthemum indicum were reviewed. Results : The results are as follows. 1. According to traditional medical classics, the efficacy of Lycii Fructus and Chrysanthemum indicum is removing nebula(退?) and improving acuity of vision(明目). 2. According to contemporary studies, Lycii Fructus has strong antioxidant, neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effect. Chrysanthemum indicum has strong anti-inflammatory effect. Results and Conclusions : The Lycii Fructus is proper to macula or neuro-ophthalmology disease. Chrysanthemum indicum is proper to cornea or conjunctiva disease. Absolutely, It may be changed according to the individual condition. However, this may be a rough guide for usage in Korean medicine ophthalmology.

  • This study examined children from two families exposed to domestic violence and had psychological counseling in July 2017 at KOVA, a support organization for crime victims. The subjects were exposed to family violence in excess of 10 years and was protected by the shelter with their mothers who had filed complaints with the local police. Victims of domestic violence often face difficulty in avoiding the source of aggression, and thus experience repetitive attacks. This research was conducted at the Buddhism Brain Research Facility, Seoul University, to identify and quantify the emotional characteristics of the affected children in which it is difficult to escape from their living conditions. Data was collected by BrainMaster, a 19-channel examination kit, and analyzed by NeuroGuide. As a result of analyzing the emotional characteristics of the affected children through Quantitative EEG and brain topographical map, we found an increase of slow wave and problems with abnormality of Alpha, High Beta in the left and right Frontal area asymmetry.
