The advancement in semiconductor technology is leading toward smaller critical dimension designs and larger wafer manufactures. Due to such phenomena, semiconductor industry is in need of an accurate control of the process. Photolithography is one of the key processes where the pattern of each layer is formed. In this process, precise superposition of the current layer to the previous layer is critical. Therefore overlay parameters of the semiconductor photolithography process is targeted for this research. The complex relationship among the input parameters and the output metrologies is difficult to understand and harder yet to model. Because of the superiority in modeling multi-nonlinear relationships, neural networks is used for the simulator modeling. For training the neural networks, conjugate gradient method is employed. An experiment is performed to evaluate the performance among the proposed neural network simulator, stepwise regression model, and the currently practiced prediction model from the test site.

We investigatea new fuzzy-neural networks-Hybrid Fuzzy set based polynomial Neural Networks (HFSPNN). These networks consist of genetically optimized multi-layer with two kinds of heterogeneous neurons thatare fuzzy set based polynomial neurons (FSPNs) and polynomial neurons (PNs). We have developed a comprehensive design methodology to determine the optimal structure of networks dynamically. The augmented genetically optimized HFSPNN (namely gHFSPNN) results in a structurally optimized structure and comes with a higher level of flexibility in comparison to the one we encounter in the conventional HFPNN. The GA-based design procedure being applied at each layer of gHFSPNN leads to the selection leads to the selection of preferred nodes (FSPNs or PNs) available within the HFSPNN. In the sequel, the structural optimization is realized via GAs, whereas the ensuing detailed parametric optimization is carried out in the setting of a standard least square method-based learning. The performance of the gHFSPNN is quantified through experimentation where we use a number of modeling benchmarks synthetic and experimental data already experimented with in fuzzy or neurofuzzy modeling.
This paper compares regression and neural network modeling approaches to predict competitive biosorption equilibrium data. The regression approach is based on the fitting of modified Langmuir-type isotherm models to experimental data. Neural networks, on the other hand, are non-parametric statistical estimators capable of identifying patterns in data and correlations between input and output. Our results show that the neural network approach outperforms traditional regression-based modeling in correlating and predicting the simultaneous uptake of copper and cadmium by a microbial biosorbent. The neural network is capable of accurately predicting unseen data when provided with limited amounts of data for training. Because neural networks are purely data-driven models, they are more suitable for obtaining accurate predictions than for probing the physical nature of the biosorption process.
This paper intends to progress models to accurately estimate the behavior of fresh concrete under vibration using artificial neural networks (ANNs). To this end, behavior of a full scale precast concrete mold was investigated numerically. Experimental study was carried out under vibration with the use of a computer-based data acquisition system. In this study measurements were taken at three points using two vibrators. Transducers were used to measure time-dependent lateral displacements at these points on mold while both mold is empty and full of fresh concrete. Modeling of empty and full mold was made using ANNs. Benefiting ANNs used in this study for modeling fresh concrete, mold design can be performed. For the modeling of ANNs: Experimental data were divided randomly into two parts such as training set and testing set. Training set was used for ANN's learning stage. And the remaining part was used for testing the ANNs. Finally, ANN modeling was compared with measured data. The comparisons show that the experimental data and ANN results are compatible.
Artificial neural networks (ANNs) are a new type of information processing system based on modeling the neural system of human brain. The prediction of swell pressures from easily determined soil properties, namely, initial dry density, initial water content, and plasticity index, have been investigated by using artificial neural networks. The results of the constant volume swell tests in oedometers, performed on statically compacted specimens of Bentonite-Kaolinite clay mixtures with varying soil properties, were trained in an ANNs program and the results were compared with the experimental values. It is observed that the experimental results coincided with ANNs results.
This paper is to explore the potential use of the modeling capacity of neural networks for control applications. The tasks are carried out by two neural networks which act as a plant identifier and a system controller, respectively. Using information stored in the identification network control action has been developed. Without supervising control signals are generated by a gradient type iterative algorithm.

Neural network technique is widely employed in the fields of signal processing, control systems, pattern recognition, etc. Learning of neural networks is an important procedure to accomplish dynamic system modeling. This paper presents a novel learning approach for differential neural network models based on the Kalman-Bucy filter theory. We construct an augmented state vector including original neural state and parameter vectors and derive a state estimation rule avoiding gradient function terms which involve to the conventional neural learning methods such as a back-propagation approach. We carry out numerical simulation to evaluate the proposed learning approach in nonlinear system modeling. By comparing to the well-known back-propagation approach and Kalman-Bucy filtering, its superiority is additionally proved under stochastic system environments.
In this paper. we introduce a new structure of fuzzy-neural networks Fuzzy Set-based Polynomial Neural Networks (FSPNN). The two underlying design mechanisms of such networks involve genetic optimization and information granulation. The resulting constructs are Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks (FPNN) with fuzzy set-based polynomial neurons (FSPNs) regarded as their generic processing elements. First, we introduce a comprehensive design methodology (viz. a genetic optimization using Genetic Algorithms) to determine the optimal structure of the FSPNNs. This methodology hinges on the extended Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH) and fuzzy set-based rules. It concerns FSPNN-related parameters such as the number of input variables, the order of the polynomial, the number of membership functions, and a collection of a specific subset of input variables realized through the mechanism of genetic optimization. Second, the fuzzy rules used in the networks exploit the notion of information granules defined over systems variables and formed through the process of information granulation. This granulation is realized with the aid of the hard C-Means clustering (HCM). The performance of the network is quantified through experimentation in which we use a number of modeling benchmarks already experimented with in the realm of fuzzy or neurofuzzy modeling.

This paper presents an adaptive neural computation algorithm for multi-layered neural networks which are applied to identify the characteristic function of dynamic systems. The main feature of the proposed algorithm is that the initial learning rate for the employed neural network is assigned systematically, and also the assigned learning rate can be adjusted empirically for effective neural leaning. By employing the approach, enhanced modeling of dynamic systems is possible. The effectiveness of this approach is veri tied by simulations.
In this study, artificial neural networks were used to determine the intensity of brightness in interior spaces. The illumination elements to illuminate indoor spaces were considered, not individually, but as a system. So, during the planned maintenance periods of an illumination system, after its design and installation, simple brightness level measurements must be taken. For a three-dimensional evaluation of the brightness level in indoor spaces in a speedy and accurate manner, the obtained brightness level measurement results and artificial neural network model were used. Upon estimation of the most suitable brightness level for indoor spaces by using the artificial neutral network model, the energy demands required by the illumination elements decreased. Consequently, in this study, with estimations of brightness levels, the extent to which the artificial neutral networks become successful was observed and more correct results have been obtained in terms of both economy and usage.
