  • The tactical mobile ad-hoc network(MANET) consists of distributed autonomous networks between individual ground nodes, which is effective in terms of network survivability and flexibility. However, due to constraints such as limited power, terrain, and mobility, frequent link disconnection and shadow area may occur in communication. On the other hand, the satellite network has the advantage of providing a wide-area wireless link overcoming terrain and mobility, but has limited bandwidth and high-latency characteristic. In the future battlefield, an integrated network architecture for interworking multi-layer networks through a heterogeneous network gateway (HNG) is required to overcome the limitations of the existing individual networks and increase reliability and efficiency of communication. In this paper, we propose a new HNG architecture and detailed algorithm that integrates satellite network and the tactical MANET and enables reliable data transfer based on flow characteristics of traffic. The simulations validated the proposed architecture using Riverbed Modeler, a network-level simulator.

  • The need for network security is being increasing due to the development of information communication and internet technology. In this paper, firewall models, operating system models and other network component models are constructed. Each model is defined by basic or compound model, referencing DEVS formalism. These models and the simulation environment are implemented with MODSIM III, a general purpose, modular, block-structured high-level programming language which provides direct support for object-oriented programming and discrete-event simulation. In this simulation environment with representative attacks, the following three attacks are generated, SYN flooding and Smurf attack as an attack type of denial of service, Mail bomb attack as an attack type of e-mail. The simulation is performed with the models that exploited various security policies against these attacks. The results of this study show that the modeling method of packet filtering system, proxy system, unix and windows NT operating system. In addition, the results of the simulation show that the analysis of security performance according to various security policies, and the analysis of correlation between availability and confidentiality according to security empowerment.

  • The purpose of this research is to develop and evaluate a traffic engineering architecture that uses local state information. This architecture is applied to an Internet protocol radio access network (RAN) that uses multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) and differentiated services to support mobile hosts. We assume mobility support is provided by a protocol such as the hierarchical mobile Internet protocol. The traffic engineering architecture is router based-meaning that routers on the edges of the network make the decisions onto which paths to place admitted traffic. We propose an algorithm that supports the architecture and uses local network state in order to function. The goal of the architecture is to provide an inexpensive and fast method to reduce network congestion while increasing the quality of service (QoS) level when compared to traditional routing and traffic engineering techniques. We use a number of different mobility scenarios and a mix of different types of traffic to evaluate our architecture and algorithm. We use the network simulator ns-2 as the core of our simulation environment. Around this core we built a system of pre-simulation, during simulation, and post-processing software that enabled us to simulate our traffic engineering architecture with only very minimal changes to the core ns-2 software. Our simulation environment supports a number of different mobility scenarios and a mix of different types of traffic to evaluate our architecture and algorithm.

  • The usage of Social Network in business environment is now processing various methods. The purpose of this paper is doing a simulation about how each node of social network reacts to a special input, and how a specific node have an effect to other nodes. Also, when we change weight of node in the same input, we can trace about change of node status in real time. So, we can use this model for identification of important person in social network, and we can use it for checking the reaction of person in specific input. we use VENSIM program for modeling and simulation process.

  • We introduce the coordination among the intrusion detection agents by BBA(BlackBoard Architecture) that belongs to the field of distributed artificial intelligence. The system which uses BBA for the coordination can be easily expanded by adding new agents and increasing the number of BB(BlackBoard) levels. Several simulation tests performed on the targer network will illustrate our techniques. And this paper applies PBN(Policy-Based Network) to reduce the false positives that is one of the main problems of IDS. The performance obtained from the coordination of intrusion detection agent with PBN is compared against the corresponding non PBN type intrusion detection agent. The application of the research results lies in the experimentation of the various security policies according to the network types in selecting the best security policy that is most suitable for a given network.

As a result, the test network environment for research has been progressing steadily. Because it requires a lot of sensor nodes, to establish of Testbed for WSN is difficult. in this paper suggests efficient integration test simulation environment of Testbed and Virtual environment for WSN. In addition to this paper suggests simulation environment able to integration of simulation time of Testbed and NS-3.

  • In order to enhance the dynamic and interactive simulation capability of a system thermal hydraulic code for nuclear power plant, applicability of flow network models in SINDA/FLUIN $T^{™}$ has been tested by modeling feedwater system and coupling to DSNP which is one of a system thermal hydraulic simulation code for a pressurized heavy water reactor. The feedwater system is selected since it is one of the most important balance of plant systems with a potential to greatly affect the behavior of nuclear steam supply system. The flow network model of this feedwater system consists of condenser, condensate pumps, low and high pressure heaters, deaerator, feedwater pumps, and control valves. This complicated flow network is modeled and coupled to DSNP and it is tested for several normal and abnormal transient conditions such turbine load maneuvering, turbine trip, and loss of class IV power. The results show reasonable behavior of the coupled code and also gives a good dynamic and interactive simulation capabilities for the several mild transient conditions. It has been found that coupling system thermal hydraulic code with a flow network code is a proper way of upgrading simulation capability of DSNP to mature nuclear plant analyzer (NPA).

  • MANET can be applied to various applications as it can autonomously configure the network with only mobile nodes. However, the network can be vulnerable to cyber attacks because it is organized in a distributed environment without central control or management. In this paper, we propose a simulation-based network security vulnerability analysis and verification method. Using this method, we simulated the routing message modification attack, Sybil node attack, and TLV message modification attack that may frequently occur in MANET, and confirmed that similar vulnerabilities can be occurred in the real system. Therefore, the proposed method can be used to improve the accuracy of the protocol design by verifying possible security vulnerabilities through simulation during the protocol design procedure.

  • There are so many researches about the search method for the most compatible dispatching rule to a manufacturing system state. Most of researches select the dispatching rule using simulation results. This paper touches upon two research topics: the clustering method for manufacturing system states using simulation, and the search method for the most compatible dispatching rule to a manufacturing system state. The manufacturing system state variables are given to ART II neural network as input. The ART II neural network is trained to cluster the system state. After being trained, the ART II neural network classifies any system state as one state of some clustered states. The simulation results using clustered system state information and those of various dispatching rules are compared and the most compatible dispatching rule to the system state is defined. Finally there are made two knowledge bases. The simulation experiments are given to compare the proposed methods with other scheduling methods. The result shows the superiority of the proposed knowledge base.
