  • A discrete sliding mode control (SMC) method based on hybrid model of neural network and nominal model is proposed to reduce the vibration of flexible structures, which is a robust active controller developed by using a sliding manifold approach. Since the thick boundary layer will reduce the virtue of SMC, the multilayer feed-forward neural network is adopted to model the uncertainty part. The neural network is trained by Levenberg-Marquardt backpropagation. The design objective of the sliding mode surface is based on the quadratic optimal cost function. In course of running, the input signal of SMC come from the hybrid model of the nominal model and the neural network. The simulation shows that the proposed control scheme is very effective for large uncertainty systems.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of a XCP (Xeline Control Protocol) network system. XCP is an information oriented protocol which delivers information with high reliability according to the predefined rule. The XCP network system is implemented with partly hardware and partly software based on the power line communication(PLC) environment. A network management tool which interacts with devices is also developed. In order to verify the feasibility of the proposed architecture, the implemented XCP network system is evaluated using a lighting control system.

  • This paper handles synthesis and investigation of a neural network guidance law based on pursuit-evasion games. This work considers two-dimensional pursuit-evasion games solved by using the gradient method. The procedure of developing a guidance law from the game-optimal solutions is deeply examined, and important features of the neural network guidance are investigated. The proposed neural network guidance law takes the range, range rate, line-of-sight rate, and heading error as its input variables. By reconstructing the trajectory, the accuracy of the neural network approximation is verified. Afterwards, robustness of the neural network guidance to the autopilot lag, which results from its feedback structure, is investigated ...

  • Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) is used for mapping a network address to physical address in many network technologies. However, since ARP protocol has no security feature, it always abused by attackers for performing ARP-based attacks. Researchers presented many technologies to improve ARP protocol, but most of them require a high implementation cost or scarify the network performance for using ARP protocol securely. In this paper, we present an ARP-disabled network system to neutralize the ARP-based attacks. "ARP-disabled" means suppress the ARP messages like request, response and broadcast messages, but not the ARP table. In our system, ARP tables are used for managing static ARP entries without prior knowledge (e.g. IP, MAC list of client devices). This is possible because the MAC address was designed to be derived from IP address. In general, our system is safe from the ARP-based attacks even the attacker has a strong power. Moreover, we saved network bandwidth by disabling the ARP messages.

  • To promote academic researches on earth environment utilizing satellite data, research infrastructure such as satellite data reception processing, distribution and archival systems should be fully provided. The means to enhance the infrastructure were discussed by a working group and“Satellite Data Center via Network”has been proposed. This concept has three principles; (1) To realize necessary functions by organizing experts distributed all over Japan and connecting them by network, (2) To realize“Satellite Data Center via Network”for GMS and NOAA Satellites, which are widely used for research, and (3) Satellite data set oriented to specific research area should be generated by researchers having definite research purposes of sensor algorithms and hugh volume data processing. Utilization of the Science Information Network (SINET) has been discussed to realize this concept, and to accelerate this project an experiment“Network Utilization for Wide Area Use of Satellite Image Data”under“Cooperative Experiment on Multimedia Communication”has been introduced. And the roles of the Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo to contribute this project has been described.

  • This paper proposes a class of rearrangeable networks, called generalized rearrangeable networks(GRNs). GRNs are obtained from the Benes network by rearranging the connections between states and the switches within each stage. The GRNs constitute all of the rearrangeable networks which have the recursive decomposition structure and can be routed by the outside-in decomposition of permutations as the Bene network. This paper also presents a necessary condition for a network to be a GRN and a network labeling scheme to check if a network satisfies the condition. the general routing algorithm for the GRNs is given by modifying slightly the looping algorithm of the Benes network.

  • Recent findings identified the scatter and shape of MFD (macroscopic fundamental diagram) is heavily influenced by the spatial distribution of link density in a road network. This implies that the concept of MFD can be utilized to divide a heterogeneous road network with different degrees of congestion into multiple homogeneous subnetworks. Considering the actual traffic data is usually incomplete and inaccurate while most traffic partition algorithms rely on the completeness of the data, we proposed a three-step partitioned algorithm called Iso-MB (Isoperimetric algorithm - Merging - Boundary adjustment) permitting of incompletely input data in this paper. The proposed algorithm was implemented and verified in a simulated urban transportation network. The existence of well-defined MFD in each subnetwork was revealed and discussed and the selection of stop parameter in the isoperimetric algorithm was explained and dissected. The effectiveness of the approach to the missing input data was also demonstrated and elaborated.
