  • This paper presents neural network-based recognition system for automatic light emitting diode (LED) inspection. The back-propagation neural network (BPNN) is proposed and tested. The current-voltage (I-V) characteristic data of LED from the inspection process is used for the network training and testing. This study selects 300 random samples as network training and employs 100 samples as network testing. The experimental results show that if the classification work is done well, the accuracy of recognition is 100%, and the testing speed of the proposed recognition system is almost one half faster than the traditional inspection system does. The proposed neural-network approach is successfully demonstrated by real data sets and can be effectively developed as a recognition system for a practical application purpose.

  • Access networks connected in B3G networks provide its property network service. Hence, though mobile users may utilize only a network service from an access network, they can also use variety of network services from several access networks for their service satisfaction. To support heterogeneous changeable network service in access networks, the mobile terminal must implement heterogeneous system techniques so that it is able to change the network service by ISHO (Inter-System Handover) In this paper, we present the ISHO condition by the policy-based framework in B3G networks. Also, we propose an ISHO scheme to control network resources for the QoS management of a mobile session between UMTS and WLAN access networks. To support the QoS management, the proposed scheme is that it will be implemented before the resource exhaustion occurs to effect network performances.

  • SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) is most commonly used as a standard protocol for effective network management by supporting the increasing size of the network and the variety of network elements such as router, switch, server and so on. However, SNMP has performance drawbacks of network overhead, processing latency, and the inefficiency in data retrieval. In this paper, we propose two schemes to improve the performance of SNMP; 1) the first scheme to reduce the amount of redundant OID information within a SNMP-GetBulk response message, 2) the second scheme of newly proposed SNMP-GetUpdate message combined with the cache in MNS. Through the analysis with real experiments, we show that our first scheme reduces the network overhead and the second scheme improves the processing latency and the retrieval of SNMP MB tables. And, therefore the scalability of network management can be improved.

  • As the public Internet and private internet have grown from small networks into large infrastructures, the need to more systematically manage the large number of network components within these networks has grown more important as well. The rapid growth of network size has brought into question the salability of the existing centralized model, such as SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) and CMIP(Common Management Information Protocol). Thus, for efficient network management, researches about mobile agent have also been performed recently. This paper presents analytical models of centralized approach based on SNMP protocol, distributed approach based on mobile agent, and mixed mode to make up for shortcomings of SNMP and mobile agent. We compare the performance of these analytical models based on network management response time. Experiment results show that performance of mobile agent and the nixed mode is less sensitive to the delay in WAN network environment. However, SNMP is more efficient for the simple network environment like LAN. We also propose an adaptive network management algorithm in consideration of network t environment. delay, task, and the number of nodes based on the results of analytical models. The results show that the adaptive network management algorithm can reduce the network management response time by 10% compared with either mobile agent or mixed mode network management algorithm.

  • Policy-Based Network Management (PBNM) architecture is to meet various needs of network users and to provide effective management facilities in distributed and large scale networks to network managers. In PBNM, network managers perform network management operations by stipulating a set of rules rather than control each network component. On the other hand, providing security services such as authentication, privacy of messages as well as a new flexible and extensible administration framework, SNMPv3 enables network managers to monitor and control the operation of network components more secure way than ever before. Despite of its enhanced security services, SNMPv3 has difficulties in managing distributed, large-scaled network because it does not provide centralized security management facilities. In this paper, we propose a new security model called Role-based Security Management model (RSM) with security management policy to support scalable and centralized security management for SNMP-based networks. Also, the structure and the operation of the security system as well as the efficiency analysis of RSM in terms of security management are also described.

  • SNMP is a simple, application layer protocol and that is sending and receiving the management information among network devices. It exchanges the management information by the PDUs that have the management information names and values. Until now, network management is so inconvenience because of console-based management by using SNMP. This paper shows the Web-based SNMP network management system that is using the designed private MIB and GUI. In this paper, we have proposed a virtual SNMP agent supporting scalability of network management. With the virtual agent, large-scale network can be managed simply by trap filtering and hierarchical management.

  • The article first presents a broad overview of the design and management for survivable network. We review the concept of network survivability, various protection and restoration schemes. Also we introduce design architectures of Quantitative model and a Survivable Ad hoc and Mesh Network Architecture. In the other side of study like these(traditional engineering approach), there is the concept of the survivable network systems based on an immune approach. There is one sample of the dynamic multi-routing algorithms in this paper.

  • Since 1991, so many women's volunteer centers have established in local self governing body or several women's organizations. The aims are to promote and manage women's volunteer activities. For last 12 years, one of aims has been already attained. But the other one is beyond attainment, because there are few network system among women's volunteer centers. For more efficient management of volunteer activities, it is necessary to construct computer network system in every volunteer center. In this paper, we describe current network situation and suggest network construction method of women's volunteer centers.

  • In NGNs(Next Generation Networks), It is necessary for Integrated management of resource and information to satisfy high-quality users'demands, such as stable speed, guarantee of high level service and service requirement in various fields. In relation to this, technology for efficiently using limited resources is becoming interesting things more and more. Therefore policy of network service is dealt essentially. Recently, DEN(Directory Enabled Network)-based personalization service is user-dependent services in NGNs, and integrated management and efficient use of limited resources. Also, PBNM(Policy-Based Network Management) is new technology defined and applied by policies of communication service environments and users on demand. Subsequently to study on how to optimizing the PBNM is of great importance. In this paper, we propose a technology of the PBNM based on DEN standardized in DMTF(Distributed Management Task Force).

  • ubiquitous network management system (u-NMS) is the network management system based on smartphone which are recently of wide use. The purpose of the u-NMS is to provide convenience for network administrator utilizing the mobility of smartphone and to manage the network efficiently. This paper proposes the smart NMS agent and the mobility management server (MMS). The smart NMS agent enables to use the monitoring web server and remote control application on the smartphone in wireless network. The MMS is developed to reduce the problems such as handover latency and packet loss, which can be taken place in wireless network. The network manager can monitor traffic in real time through the smart NMS agent and remotely control the network efficiently when sudden failures happen in the u-NMS. In this paper, performance evaluation is carried out with our test-bed system implemented. We focus on the measurement of the MMS performance. When the MMS is compared to previous mobility management protocol, our mobility management server reduces the average latency up to 65% in initial access, handover latency and processing delay to the network management center.
