This was written based on the type and structure of korean man's waist belt in the early and middle era of the Chosun era. The waist belt was excavated from the Mokdaldong in the Daejeon city. The types of korean man's waist belt in the Chosun era were classified into Wondahae (i.e., round shape belt) and Gwangdahae. The Wondahae consist of two types which are circle shaped and straight types. The circle shaped wondahae contain one fringe in the main body of the belt and its joint part is decorated with a small network such as lacing decoration with the size about 1 cm around. The shape of the Wondahae has been changed from the circle shaped into the straight types and also has a tendency to be wider and longer as time went by. The standard form of the Gwangdahae is straight with about 2-3 cm width and elaborated by lacelike fringe as well. This also has a tendency to be wider starting from the 1600s show. The structure of this belts were divided into braid and ornament parts. The ornament part was constructed with the lacelike netting and fringe parts. The sophisticated craft techniques have a great decorative beauty. Through an analysis of FT-IR, the materials of those three belt are known which are made of the silk and the core thread was filled with cotton. Moreover, it can be confirmed that the glitter material of the ornament part were designed with gold foil and has been analyzed with SEM-EDX.

A large cage system for the purpose of fishes farming in the open sea was influenced by various forces from the ocean environment. The deformation of the cage by these forces affects the safety of the cage itself, as well as that of the cultivated creatures. In this research, theoretical model was established to analyzing dynamic movement influenced by current for cage. Also, to increase the accuracy of calculations, the reduction ratio of flow speed acquired using the flume tank experiment. Applying the reduction ratio of flow speed to the numerical calculation, the calculation values were compared with the measured values in the flume tank experiment using cage model. The results were as follows ; 1. When the flow speed of the flume tank is fixed, the decrease of the velocity of flow which is passed the upper panel side is proportion to the increase of porosity ratio of netting. 2. When the porosity ratio is fixed, the increase of the velocity of flow which is passed the upper panel side is proportion to the increase of velocity of flow. 3. When the porosity ratio and the flow speed of the flume tank are fixed, the decrease of the velocity of flow which is passed the upper panel side is proportion to the increase of attack angle. 4. As a result of comparison between the underwater shape by simulation which is applying the reduction ratio of flow speed from the experiment using plane netting and that by model experiment, it was found out that the result of the simulation was very close to that of model gear within ${\pm}$ 5 % error range.

As a primary step in studying the relationship between the arrangement of netting and the section shape of the bag net in the four-seam trawling net, a series of experiments were performed with the simplified model of the bag net made of vinyl film. This model was suspended horizontally in circularly flowing water, with two pairs of suspending threads to four points of symetry at the border of the bag mouth in place of both wing nets. And then, the area distribution of each panel in the bag net was arranged by the portion of the length of the side panel, q to that of the lower or upper panel, p at the border of bag mouth. In the experiments, the section shape of the bag mouth photographed and the tensions on both pairs of suspending threads were measured with two loadcells in circularly flowing water. From the results that the section shape of the bag mouth in circularly flowing water is controlled by the area distribution of panels in the bag net, the author estimated an experimental equation. h/w=k sub(1) e super(k) 2 super(q/p)+C, where h is the central height of the bag mouth, and w is the lateral width of that.

Melon fruits exhibit a wide range of morphological variations in fruit shape, sugar content, net quality, diameter and weight, which are largely dependent on the variety. These characteristics significantly affect marketability. For netted varieties, the uniformity and pattern of the net serve as key factors in determining the external quality of the melon and act as indicators of its internal quality. In this study, we evaluated the effect of fruit morphology and growth on netting by analyzing the changes in melon fruit quality under LED light treatment and monitoring fruit growth. Computer vision analysis was used for quantitative evaluation of fruit net quality, and a three-variable logistic model was applied to simulate fruit growth. The results showed that melons grown under LED conditions exhibited more uniform fruit shape and improvements in both net quality and sugar content compared to the control group. The results of the logistic model showed minimal error values and consistent curve slopes across treatments, confirming its ability to accurately predict fruit growth patterns under varying light conditions. This study provides an understanding of the effects of fruit shape and growth on net quality.
In order to obtain basic data for reasonable design of rockfall prevention net unreasonably being designed according to experiences, this paper determined a standard cross section and analyzed the effects of parameters such as inclination and height of slope faces, rockfall weight, separation distance on rockfall behaviors such as bounce height, kinetic energy and passage rate. The weight of rockfall changed from 400 kg to 700 kg and then to 1,000 kg. With the height of 20 m as the standard, the test was conducted with the inclination at $63^{\circ}$ and $55^{\circ}$ which may affect rockfall behaviors. Analysis was made while changing the fall height of rockfall from 3 m to 15 m and then to 20 m, thereby analyzing and evaluating changes in maximal kinetic energy occurring in the base of slope. According to the analysis result, in designing a rockfall prevention wire net, a design considering various conditions including inclination of the slope, expected size or weight of rockfall, situation of the slope and the shape of rockfall, and rockfall trace is judged necessary beyond the current uniform application.
During the period from 1966 to 1968, total catches of Spanish mackerel averaged 6,000 to 7,000M/T per annual in Korea, and approximately 70 per cent of this amount was captured by drift nets. In an effort to improve the efficiency of drift nets, some experiments were conducted in 1969 to investigate the selectivity of material and mesh sizes. Seven different mesh sizes (80,85,95,100,105,110 and 115 mm) of both multi- and mono-filament netting were used, and the following results were obtained : 1, The body weight of Spanish mackerel taken with the seven different mesh sizes ranges from 0.5kg to 2.9kg, and the mode of body weight consists of three groups, 1kg ($21%$), 1.3kg($15\%$) and 1.5kg($19\%$). 2. For multi-filament net, 80 to 105mm mesh sizes were suitable to catch those three groups, and a little smalter than these for mono-filament net. 3. For Spanish mackerel only, the mono-filament material proved to have 1.5 times better selectivity than multi-filament : however, the latter proved superior for miscellaneous fish species due to its different size and shape. 4. Multi-filament net showed better selectivity for smaller species than mono-filament. (and mono-filament in general indicated opposite phenomenon.)

The objective of this study was to quantitatively evaluate the influence of the netting hanging ratio on fishing performance of gillnet. A total of six tests was carried out using three kinds of gillnets with different horizontal hanging ratios (0.3, 0.5 and 0.7) on the basis commercial gillnet of mesh size of 60 mm used in Yeosu Dolsan. As a result of the test fishing operation, catches of the net with hanging ratio 0.3 and the shortest float length was 1.34 times larger than the net with hanging ratio 0.7. The caught species in experimental testes was lager in the net with hanging ratio 0.3 than the net with hanging ratio 0.7. The catch rate per unit area (CPUE) is on the silver croaker with the largest catches in tests as follows. The net with hanging ratio 0.3 net was $89.45g/m^2$, hanging ratio 0.5 net was $41.63g/m^2$, and hanging ratio 0.7 net was $24.50g/m^2$. The net with hanging ratio 0.3 (float line length of 45 m) exhibited the largest CPUE value.

In this study, a mass-spring model is used to dynamically describe and calculate the shape and movement of a mid-water trawl system. This mathematical model theorizes that the factors constituting the system are the material points and the external forces such as hydrodynamic load, gravity, and buoyancy act on these material points. In addition, it surmises that these material points are connected to each other by springs, the springs do not have any mass, and the internal force acts on these springs. The non-linear differential equations are implicitly integrated with time for guaranteeing a stable solution. The dynamic simulation by the mass-spring model shows the status of the gear such as fishing gear depth, distance between doors, shape of the gear, and tension of each line. It depends on the parameters such as towing force, warp length, force of a sinker, buoyancy of a float, type of door and netting materials. The validity of the model is verified by comparing simulation motions of a trawl system obtained from computed values to those from an actual experiment.

A model experiment on a midwater rope trawl net which is used in the North Pacific to catch alaska pollack is carried out in the circulating tank to examine the basic efficiency of the net. The prototype is the net used by M/S Hanil(1, 179GT, 2, 700PS), a Korean trawler. The model net was made according to the Tauti's Similarity Law of Fishing Gear in 1/100 scale by considering the condition of the tank. To measure the basic efficiency of the standard model net, the vertical opening and width between some points marked on the net were measured, and the hydrodynamic resistance were determined. Then the constructive conditions of the net were varied as follows and the factors were measured again to compare the efficiency of those nets with that of the standard net(A-1 type) front weight multiplied 1.5 times: A-2 type. buoyancy and depressing force multiplied 1.7 times: A-3 type. front weight multiplied 1.5 times on A-3 type: A-4 type. depressors rigged at ground rope: B type. cod-end stuffed with cashmylon wad: C type. The results obtained can be summarized as follows: 1. The vertical opening at the center of head rope was steeply decreased with the flow velocity increasing and the vertical opening H(m) can be expressed in H=1.2v super(-1.2)(v : flow velocity in m/sec). The width of the net varied a little when the flow velocity was over 0.4m/sec, and the width of net mouth showed about 37% of the distance between the fore tips of net pendant. The shape of net mouth was almost a circle at 0.2m/sec and then steeply flatted elliptically with the flow velocity increasing and the area of mouth S(m super(2)) can be expressed in S=(1.65-2.3v)$\times$10 super(-2). The hydrodynamic resistance of the net increased almost linearly with the flow velocity increasing and the resistance R(kg) can be expressed in R=3.2$\times$d/l$\times$abv. where d/l denotes the mean of d(diameter of netting twine) and l(length of a leg in a mesh) from wing tip to the end of bag-net except cod-end on the side pannel, and a denotes the strectched circumference of the net at the fore end of a meshed part and b the stretched length of the whole net from wing tip to the end of cod-end. 2. In the condition-varied nets, the vertical opening of head rope showed some increase in every type net except the C type, and the increase showed the greatest in the B type by 30~54%, whereas it showed decrease in the C type by 5~10%. Variation of the area of net mouth showed almost the same tendency as the vertical opening and the increase showed the greatest in the B type by 20%, whereas it showed decrease in the C type by 12%. Hydrodynamic resistance showed some increase in every type compared with the standard net, and the rate of increase indicated 5~10% in the A-2, A-3 and A-4 type, 22% in the B type and 3% in the C type.

The stow net is a stationary gear made from netting, usually in shape like trawl net without wings. The nets are fixed by means of anchors, placed according to the direction and strength of the current. And the commercial fishing is associated with high rate of fatal and non-fatal occupational injury. The hazard factors analysis for the fishermen's safety of offshore stow nets vessel was conducted to serve as a basic data for improving the healthy and safe working environment of fishermen using fishermen's occupational accidents of the national federation of fisheries cooperatives (NFFC) from 2012 to 2014 (n=1,144). As a result, the average occupational accident occurrence rate of this fishery was 206.9‰ in all industries 36.9 times the rate of that. In addition, average death and missing rate was found to have a very serious level management to 50.4‰ in all industries of death of 42.0 times. The accident occurred in 84.5 to 94.6% was happened at sea. The struck by object, slipping, contact with machinery, contact by object or gear and others occurred more frequently in order on the frequency of accident occurrence pattern. However, the occurrence rate of death and missing did not match the frequency of accident pattern. In other words, slipping occurred frequently higher while death and missing risk was not high. And the contact with fishing gear and fall in the waters was low while death and missing risk was high. The results are expected to contribute for identification and assessment of safety hazard occurred in offshore stow nets vessel.
