  • Currently, large size shipyards have performed the generating of piece and the nesting using shipbuilding-oriented CAD program, which requires high skilled operator and costs a lot. So, medium and small size shipyards have pursued other way to obtain the generating and the nesting due to an economic and a technical problems. Therefore, this research is to develop a program for the generating of pieces with parametric macro method and a STRIP program for the nesting of pieces by PC.

  • The nesting of parts cut on raw steel plate has been a subject of interest to the shipbuilding industry for many years. "Nesting" is defined operation of layout of the parts on the raw material with minimizing the waste rate. Therefore, it is very important to optimize the cutting area. Since the existing nesting programs are prepared for expensive workstations and the expert, it is needed to develop nesting program for personal computer to improve the technology of small/middle sized shipyards and their productivity. This study involves development and application of appropriate optimization technique to solve the problem of plate nesting. And the appropriate D/B for storing nesting data developed, the function of D/B is introduced in this paper.his paper.

  • In sheet metal forming process, it is very important to nest blanks optimally to get a maximum utilization ratio(UR) to reduce waste of material. Optimal Blank Nesting algorithm is developed about single nesting, double nesting, fixed slitting width and free slitting width. This algorithm was applied to various practical blanks which are under production. Then new optimal nesting configuration was obtained and higher UR was achieved by this program in each cases.

  • A new search procedure, VLT(Vertex Line Tracing) heuristic, for two dimensional irregular shapes nesting problem was suggested in this study. The VLT heuristic was suggested to the nesting problem to overcome disadvantages of the existing NFP(No-Fit-Polygon) method. This VLT heuristic was compared with the results of the existing benchmark problems suggested by Albano, Hopper, and Burke. The results of the VLT heuristic give efficient solutions in the point of the scrap ratio and computation time. A computer program, NestLogic, using C++ for VLT heuristic was also developed for this nesting problem.

  • This paper describes a new algorithm for irregular shapes allocation (known as nesting) and cutting path optimization, both implemented in PC-based software with graphic user interface (GUI). Main characteristic of the nesting W is that it deals with only vertices of Placed Pieces to reduce calculation time and for effective allocation. And the other characteristic of the nesting program is that every parts are grouped with respect to their areas and placed along the column of placement region. The cutting paths can be determined by an optimization method called simulated annealing. It was shown that the developed code is superior to other previous nesting H in elapsed time and waste ratio.

The 1st case, about only using the Simple Genetic Algorithm. The 2nd case, applied the heuristic method to the genetic operating of the Simple Genetic Algorithm. The 3rd case, applied the heuristic method to the final result of the Simple Genetic Algorirhm. The estimation of final result were proceed to developed simulation program in this research.

  • Detecting data races is important for debugging shared-memory programs with nested parallelism, because races result in unintended non-deterministic executions of the program. It is especially important to detect the first occurred data races for effective debugging, because the removal of such races may make other affected races disappear or appear. Previous dynamic detection tools for first race detecting can not guarantee that detected races are unaffected races. Also, the tools does not consider the nesting levels or need support of other techniques. This paper suggests a post-mortem tool which collects candidate accesses during program execution and then detects the first races to occur on the program after execution. This technique is efficient, because it guarantees that first races reported by analyzing a nesting level are the races that occur first at the level, and does not require more analyses to the higher nesting levels than the current level.

  • In this paper, we present a network-based integrated nesting system, that is adapted a current engineering concept. Generally, sheet cutting processes proceed in turn following an existing order In this study, however, the special characteristics of these processes were analyzed and the processes were redesigned with distributed design so that they could be operated in a client/server environment. Also, the necessary sheet material cutting processes, part CAD, nesting, part CAM, and NC post-processor capabilities, were implemented so that many workers could handle them all on the Web. Compared to existing commonly used systems, the developed system can provide integrated work environment for cutting automation, allow job collaboration between workers, and it has proved that it can shorten the standby time for work. By grafting computer system technologies to sheet material cutting automation field, this research expects to contribute to the enhancement of factory automation efficiency and productivity.
