Automatic detection of pig wasting diseases is an important issue in the management of group-housed pigs. In particular, porcine respiratory diseases are one of the main causes of mortality among pigs and loss of productivity in intensive pig farming. In this paper, we propose a noise-robust system for the early detection and recognition of pig wasting diseases using sound data. In this method, first we convert one-dimensional sound signals to two-dimensional gray-level images by normalization, and extract texture images by means of dominant neighborhood structure technique. Lastly, the texture features are then used as inputs of convolutional neural networks as an early anomaly detector and a respiratory disease classifier. Our experimental results show that this new method can be used to detect pig wasting diseases both economically (low-cost sound sensor) and accurately (over 96% accuracy) even under noise-environmental conditions, either as a standalone solution or to complement known methods to obtain a more accurate solution.
Vegetation maps present an inventory of existing plant communities, their location, extent and geographical distribution in the area concerned. For green space management and environment assessment accurate vegetation maps can be used effectively for analyzing the relationships between vegetation and the physical environment. However, the Current Vegetation Map, Forest Stand Map, and Green Naturality Map in Korea do not represent the status of vegetation community exactly. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to produce a detailed vegetation map at urban neighborhood parks in Korea by collecting the exact current vegetation data from field survey, and remote sensing(RS) and storing these data in geographical information systems(GIS). Ultimately it is intended to be used in planning and managing the urban green space. The study area is 66.1ha and it is classified into total 19 communities together with parks, orchards, bare land, grassland, tombs and gardens, etc. There is 53.7ha(81.2%) difference between the detailed vegetation map and the current vegetation map. There is also 46.9ha(70.8%) difference between the detailed vegetation map and forest stand map. After this study, it was concluded that it needs producing the detailed vegetation map used in managing urban green spaces because the existing vegetation map does not represent the status of vegetation in the study site.
Urban regeneration is a project to enhance the competitiveness. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the contents and expected effects of urban regeneration projects. In this study, we classified and analyzed the contents and expected effects of the 11 neighborhood urban regeneration pilot projects. The main results are as follows; First, physical regeneration is the most popular in terms of project contents, and social approach is the most typical for the expected effects. Second, the project of social regeneration is mainly focused on strengthening the capacity of residents. Third, the most expected effect of physical regeneration was about the improvement of landscape. Fourth, the most expected effect of social regeneration was the contents of residents' participation. Finally, there is a need for the development of projects that can expect a combination effects rather than a single effect. The urban regeneration new deal projects need to pay more attention to projects that can have various effects based on the development of competitive urban contents.

In wireless sensor networks, real-time data delivery schemes typically achieve a desired delivery speed by performing one-hop lookahead. Recently, to reduce the deadline miss ratio against the desired delivery speed, a study has proposed a real-time routing protocol based on proactively performing two-hop lookahead. However, the study might cause heavy message exchange overhead and high computing complexity to carry out obtainment of two-hop neighborhood speed information in the entire sensor nodes whether data are delivered or not. Moreover, although multi-hop lookahead provides the least deadline miss ratio, due to the restriction from the overhead and the complexity, the recent study merely adopts the two-hop lookahead manner. In this paper, we propose a novel real-time routing protocol that adopts on-demand neighborhood multi-hop information obtainments only around data forwarding paths. Simulation results prove that the proposed routing protocol offers better performances with respect to deadline miss ratio, total communication costs, energy efficiency, and network lifetime.

In OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) system that frequency reuse factor is 1, as the same channels in the neighborhood cells creates inter-cell co-channel interference which provides a resource underutilization problem, channel allocation schemes to minimize inter-cell interference have been studied. This paper proposes a new CNIR (Carrier to Noise and Interference Ratio)-based distributed Inter-cell DCA (Dynamic Channel Allocation) algorithm in the OFDMA environment with frequency reuse factor of 1. When a channel allocation is requested, if there is not a free channel in home cell or the available free channels in home cell do not satisfy a required threshold value, the proposed Inter-cell DCA algorithm finds CNIR values of available free channels in the neighborhood cells and then allocates a free channel with maximum CNIR value. Through the simulation results, we find that the proposed scheme decreases both new call block rate and forced termination rate due to new call generation at the same time because it increases channel allocation probability.

For the identifying of spatial distribution pattern, Moran's Index(I) which has the range of values from -1 to +1 is common method for the spatial autocorrelation measurement. When I is close to 1, all neighboring features have close to the same value, indicating clustered pattern. Conversely, if the spatial pattern is dispersed, I is close to -1. And I closing to 0 means spatially random pattern. However, this index equation is influenced by how defining the neighboring features for target feature. To compare and understand the difference of neighborhood definition methods, fixed distance neighboring method and Gabriel Network method were used for I. In this study, these two methods were applied to two marine environments with water quality data. One is Gwangyang Bay which has complex geometric coastal structure located in South Sea of Korea. Another is Uljin area adjacent to open sea located in east coast of Korea. The distances between water quality observed locations were relatively regular in Gwangyang Bay, however, irregular in Uljin area. And for the fixed distance method popular Arc GIS tool was used, but, for the Gabriel Network, Visual Basic program was developed to produce Gabriel Network and calculate Moran's I and its Z-score automatically. According to this experimental results, different spatial pattern was showed differently for some data with using of neighboring definition methods. Therefore there is need to choose neighboring definition method carefully for spatial pattern analysis.
This study is to investigate the housing conditions and housing satisfaction of Chinese students in S. Korea, and identified effective factors for related housing design. Chinese students at CBNU participated in this survey from November to December in 2011. A questionnaire survey was used. 200 students voluntarily participated in this survey with 147 surveys providing useful data for analysis. Descriptive statistics, correlation, and linear regression were used to analyzed the data with SPSS 12.0. The results are as follow. 1) Many Chinese students received housing information from discussion with acquaintance. They lived together 2 students in one-room or dormitory. Monthly rental was about 240,000 won, and they found the living conditions a burden. 2) They are unsatisfied with food, the lack of a refrigerator, and non availability kitchen facilities. These factors are considered in planning for Chinese students housing. 3) For the most part, they are satisfied with their current housing environment, although there is a need to improve health related housing environment factors, including sunlight, noise, and indoor air. The effective residential factors to overall housing satisfaction are dwelling space and size, space organization and floor plan, kitchen toilet bathroom facilities, sunlight, and safety from natural disasters. The effective neighborhood factors identified include access to natural environment, community facilities, parks, noise, and commuting time. 4) Subjective factors played a larger role in overall housing satisfaction than did objective factors such as gender and types of house.
We compare various imputation methods for compensating wave nonresponse that are commonly adopted in many panel surveys. Unlike the cross-sectional survey, the panel survey is involved a time-effect in nonresponse in a sense that nonresponse may happen for some but not all waves. Thus, responses in neighboring waves can be used as powerful predictors for imputing wave nonresponse such as in longitudinal regression imputation, carry-over imputation, nearest neighborhood regression imputation and row-column imputation method. For comparison, we carry out a simulation study on a few income data from the Korean Welfare Panel Study based on two performance criteria: predictive accuracy and estimation accuracy. Our simulation shows that the ratio and row-column imputation methods are much more effective in terms of both criteria. Regression, longitudinal regression and carry-over imputation methods performed better in predictive accuracy, but less in estimation accuracy. On the other hand, nearest neighborhood, nearest neighbor regression and hot-deck imputation show higher performance in estimation accuracy but lower predictive accuracy. Finally, the mean imputation shows much lower performance in both criteria.

Urban park facilities and services offer a number of opportunities to fulfill individual, social, economic, and environmental benefits. Urban parks, provided through political measures as public goods, require balanced distribution in order to ensure social equity. The primary objectives of this study are to analyze the accessibility of urban parks and to examine whether urban parks are distributed equitably. GIS and statistical methods were used to investigate correlations between accessibility to neighborhood parks and socioeconomic status. As results, percentage of low-income population within the city was negatively related to park accessibility. Low-income dominated residential area, such as Sujeong-gu and Jungwon-gu have large low-income communities and less park accessibility compared with Bundang-gu, which are dominated by high-income residents. So, results from this study indicate that urban parks are not distributed equitably within Seongnam city. Therefore, creative strategies to provide urban parks for areas in need through the utilization of vacant lots, abandoned sites, and schools sites are necessary. Furthermore, budgetary priorities should be set to create new parks and revitalizing parks within the city's older neighborhoods are also needed.

The purpose of this study was to analyze drainage facilities in mountainous urban neigbborhood parks--Baebongsan Park and Ogeum Park--in Seoul. Based on an analysis of existing drainage facilities, the volume of storm water runoff (VSW), the runoff rate of open channels(ROC), and the detention capacity of open charmels(DCOC) by each drainage watershed, the coefficient of runoff rate(CROC) as evaluated to be relevant between VSW and ROC and the coefficient of the detention capacity of open channe1s(CDCOC) as evaluated with DCOC compared to VSW were estimated and analyzed by parks and by watersheds. The results are as follows: 1. The total drainage area of Baebongsan Park was 34.13ha including surface runoff area(15.05ha; 44.09%), open channel area(l4.60ha; 42.78%), and natural waterway area(4.48ha; 13.13%). The total drainage area of Ogeum Park was 20.39ha including open channel area (10.14ha; 49.73%), ridge-side gutter area(7.17ha; 35.16%), surface runoff area (2.52ha; 12.36%), and natural waterway area (0.56ha; 2.75%). In Baebongsan Park, the portion of surface runoff was comparatively higher while the portion of artificial drainage area was higber in Ogeum Park. 2. In Baebongsan Park drainage districts were largely divided: VSW was $7.28m^3/s$ in total(average $0.23m^3/s$). Comparatively, tbe VSW in Ogeum Park, including smaller drainage districts, was $4.37m^3/s$ in total(average $0.12m^3/s$). 3. The ROC of Baebmgsan Park was $11.58m^3/s$ in total(average $0.77m^3/s$) and the CROC was 5.26, while in Ogeum Park, the ROC was $15.40m^3/s$(average $0.34m^3/s$) and tbe CROC was 8.87 higher than that of Baebongsan Because the size and slope of the open channel in Baebongsan Park was higher, the average ROC was larger, while tbe CROC of Ogeum Park was higher than that of Baebongsan Park, for the VSW in Ogeum Park was comparatively lower. 4. The DCOC in Baebongsan Park was $554.54m^3$ and the average of CDCOC was 179.83. That of Ogeum Park was $717.74m^3$ and the average of the CDCOC was 339.69, meaning that the DCOC of Ogeum Park was so much higber that drainage facilities in Ogeum Park were built intensively. This study was focused m the capacity of the drainage facilities in mountainous urban neighborhood parks by using the CROC to evaluate relevance between VSW and ROC and the CDCOC to evaluate the DCOC as compared with VSW. The devised methodology and coefficient for evaluating drainage facilities in mountainous urban neighborhood parks may he universally applicable through additional study. Further study m sustainable urban drainage systems for retaining rainwater in a reservoir and for enhancing ecological value is required in the near future.
