Pb(Mg1/3 Nb2/3)O3 세라믹스의 전기적 특성 (Electrical Properties of Pb(Mg1/3 Nb2/3)O3 Ceramics)

  • PMN ceramics with excess MgO addition in the range of 0 to 70m/o were prepared, and their electrical properties, such as dielectric constant, tan$\delta$, diffuseness coefficient, remanent polarization, coercive field and electrical conductivity were measured. Dielectric constant and remanent polarization increased with up to 5m/o excess MgO and then decreased presumely due to the precipitation of second phase, etc. Electrical conductivity slightly increased with the addition of excess MgO.

  • $xCa(Li_{1/4}Nb_{3/4})O_{3}-(1-x)CaTiO_{3}$ ceramics were sintered under the presence of zinc-borosilicate(ZBS) glass and resultant microwave dielectric properties were investigated with a view to applying the composition to low-temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) technology. The addition of $5{\sim}15wt%$ ZBS glass ensured successful sintering below $900\;^{\circ}C$. In general, increased addition of ZBS glass increased sinterability but it decreased the quality factor($Q{\times}f_{0}$) significantly due to the formation of an excessive liquid and second phases. As for the addition of $CaTiO_3$, the dielectric constant(${\epsilon}_r$) and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency(${\tau}_f$) increased, while the quality factor($Q{\times}f_{0}$) did not show an apparent change. The sintered $0.9Ca(Li_{1/4}Nb_{3/4})O_{3}-0.1CaTiO_{3}$ specimen at $900\;^{\circ}C$ with 10 wt% ZBS glass demonstrated 39.6 in dielectric constant(${\epsilon}_r$), 4,400 in quality factor$(Q{\times}f_{0}),\;and\;-11ppm/^{\circ}C$ in temperature coefficient of resonant frequency(${\tau}_f$).

Vertical bone augmentation using collagenated or non-collagenated bone substitute materials with or without recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 in a rabbit calvarial model

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine 1) the bone-regenerative effect of porcine bone block materials with or without collagen matrix incorporation, 2) the effect of a collagen barrier, and 3) the effect of adding recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) to the experimental groups. Methods: Four treatment modalities were applied to rabbit calvaria: 1) deproteinized bovine bone mineral blocks (DBBM), 2) porcine bone blocks with collagen matrix incorporation (PBC), 3) porcine bone blocks alone without collagen matrix incorporation (PB), and 4) PBC blocks covered by a collagen membrane (PBC+M). The experiments were repeated with the addition of rhBMP-2. The animals were sacrificed after either 2 or 12 weeks of healing. Micro-computed tomography (micro-CT), histologic, and histomorphometric analyses were performed. Results: Micro-CT indicated adequate volume stability in all block materials. Histologically, the addition of rhBMP-2 increased the amount of newly formed bone (NB) in all the blocks. At 2 weeks, minimal differences were noted among the NB of groups with or without rhBMP-2. At 12 weeks, the PBC+M group with rhBMP-2 presented the greatest NB (P<0.05 vs. the DBBM group with rhBMP-2), and the PBC and PB groups had greater NB than the DBBM group (P>0.05 without rhBMP-2, P<0.05 with rhBMP-2). Conclusions: The addition of rhBMP-2 enhanced NB formation in vertical augmentation using bone blocks, and a collagen barrier may augment the effect of rhBMP-2.

고분자전해필 연료전지 분리판용 316 스테인리스강의 전기전도도에 미치는 Nb, Ti 첨가 및 표면처리 효과 (Effects of Nb and Ti Addition and Surface Treatments on the Electrical Conductivity of 316 Stainless Steel as Bipolar Plates for PEMFC)

  • Nb and Ti were added to 316 stainless steel, and then heat-treatments and surface treatments were performed on the 316 stainless steel and the Nb- and Ti-added alloys. All samples indicated enhanced electrical conductivity after surface treatments, whereas they showed low electrical conductivity before surface treatments due to the existence of non-conductive passive film on the alloy surface. In particular, the Hb- and Ti-added alloys showed remarkable enhancement of electrical conductivity compared to the original alloy, 316 stainless steel. Surface characterization revealed that small carbide particles formed on the alloy surface after surface treatments, while the alloys indicated flat surface structure before surface treatments. $Cr_{23}C_6$ mainly formed on the 316 stainless steel, and NbC and TiC mainly formed on the Nb- and Ti-added alloys, respectively. We attribute the enhanced electrical conductivity after surface treatments to the formation of these carbide particles, possibly acting as a means of electro-conductive channel through the passive film. Furthermore, NbC and TiC are supposed to be more effective carbides than $Cr_{23}C_6$ as electro-conductive channels of stainless steel

생체용 Ti-15Sn계 합금의 내식성 및 기계적 성질에 관한 연구 (A Study on Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Properties of Ti-15Sn System Alloys for Medical Implants)

  • The mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of Ti alloys for medical implants have been investigated. Ti, Ti-15Sn-4Nb and Ti-15Sn-4Nb-2Zr alloys were melted in arc furnace and the corrosion resistance of Ti alloys was evaluated by anodic polarization test. The microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti alloys were analysed by optical microscope, hardness and tensile tester. The tensile strength of the pure-Ti improved by addition of Sn and Nb and Ti-15Sn-4Nb alloy showed better Rockwell hardness compared with pure Ti. However, there was no significant difference in corrosion resistance between thoseTi-alloys made of Pure-Ti and Ti-15Sn-4Nb alloy. The passive films on the Ti-15Sn-4Nb alloy in air atmosphere consisted of $TiO_2$, SnO and NbO as demonstrated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)

  • 초미세립 복합상 영구자석은 연 경자성상의 크기와 분포에 큰 영향을 받는 자성재료이다. 또한, 결정립간 교환상호작용력은 초미세립 복합상 영구자석의 잔류자속밀도에 큰 영향을 미친다. 이에 $Nd_8Fe_{86-x}Nb_xB_6$(x=0, 1, 2, 3) 조성으로 급냉자성 분말을 제조하고, 열처리 후 자기특성을 평가하였다. Nb 첨가에 따른 $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ 상과 $\alpha$-Fe 상과의 교환상호작용력을 Henkel(${\delta}M$) plot을 통해 평가하고, 각 상의 크기와 분포를 조사하여 자기특성 변화를 합리화하였다. 본 연구에서 얻은 최대 자기특성은 $B_r$ = 9.791 kG, $_iH_c$ = 5.565 kOe, 그리고 $(BH)_{max}$ = 14.61 MGOe였고, Nb를 첨가함으로서 보자력이 증가하였다.

Effect of nano-Nb2O5 on the microstructure and mechanical properties of AZ31 alloy matrix nanocomposites

  • In this study, the gravitating mechanical stir casting method was used to fabricating the Nb2O5/AZ31 magnesium matrix nanocomposites. Niobium pentoxide (Nb2O5) used as reinforcement with two different weight percentages (3 wt % and 6 wt %). The influence of Nb2O5 on microstructure and mechanical properties has been investigated. The microstructure analysis showed that the composites are mainly composed of the primary α-magnesium phase and phase β-Mg17Al12 secondary phase. The secondary phase was dispersed evenly along the grain boundary of the Mg phase. The Nb2O5/AZ31 nanocomposites revealed that the grain size and its lamellar shape (β-Mg17Al12) were gradually refined. Different strengthening mechanisms were assessed in terms of their contributions. Results showed that composite material properties of hardness, yield strength, and fracture study were directly related to Nb2O5 as a reinforcement. The maximum values of the mechanical properties were achieved with the addition of 3 wt% Nb2O5 on the AZ31 alloy.

  • In this study, in order to develop the lead-free piezoelectric ceramics with high piezoelectric and dielectric properties, $(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})(Nb_{0.97}Sb_{0.03})O_3$ ceramics were fabricated using a conventional mixed oxide process and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated according to the $K_{5.4}Cu_{1.3}Ta_{10}O_{29}$ addition. $K_{5.4}Cu_{1.3}Ta_{10}O_{29}$ addition enhanced density, electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$) piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$ and mechanical quality factor($Q_m$). At the 0.9 mol% $K_{5.4}Cu_{1.3}Ta_{10}O_{29}$ addition, density, electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$), dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}_r$) and piezoelectric constant($d_{33}$) of specimen showed the optimum values of 0.46, 471, and 148 pC/N, respectively.

  • In this paper, in order to develop Pb-free piezoelectric ceramics, $[Li_{0.04}(Na_{0.44}K_{0.52})-(Nb_{0.86}Ta_{0.10}Sb_{0.04})]O_3$ ceramic was fabricated with the variation of ZnO addition. Piezoelectric properties of the ceramic were varied with the amount of ZnO addition and showed the maximum kp value at 0.2 wt% ZnO addition. Qm of ZnO added ceramics showed lower values than the non-added ceramics, however, the kp was increased by the addition of ZnO up to 0.2 wt%. At the sintering temperature of 1110$^{\circ}C$ and the calcination temperature of 850$^{\circ}C$, the optimal values of density=473g/$cm^3$, kp=0.473, $\varepsilon_r$=1403 were obtained.

Nb/MoSi2 접합재료의 계면 수정 및 특성 (Interfacial Moderation and Characterization of Nb/MoSi2 Bonding Materials)

  • This study dealt with the suppression of interfacial reaction between Nb and MoSi$_2$ for the fabrication of high toughness Nb/MoSi$_2$ laminate composites, based on the results of a thermodynamical estimation. Especially, the effect of ZrO$_2$ particle on the interfacial reaction of Nb/MoSi$_2$ bonding materials has been examined. Nb/MoSi$_2$ bonding materials have been successfully fabricated by alternatively stacking matrix mixtures and Nb sheets and hot pressing in the graphite mould. The addition of ZrO$_2$ particle to MoSi$_2$ matrix is obviously effective for promoting both the interfacial reaction suppression and the sintered density of Nb/MoSi$_2$ bonding materials, since it is caused by the formation of ZrSiO$_4$ in the MoSi$_2$-ZrO$_2$ matrix mixture. The interfacial shear strength of Nb/MoSi$_2$ bonding materials also decreases with the reduction of interfacial reaction layer associated with the content of ZrO$_2$ particle and the fabrication temperature.
