Optimal OPC Position and Fiber Dispersion Coefficients depending on WDM Channel Numbers (WDM 채널수에 따른 최적의 OPC 위치 및 광섬유 분산 계수)

  • In this paper, the optimal position offset of optical phase conjugator (OPC) and the optimal dispersion offsets of fiber sections, which are alternating with the method for the symmetry of optical power and chromatic dispersion with respect to OPC, are numerically investigated as afunction of the WDM channel numbers. The WDM channel numbers are assumed to be 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24. The bit-rate of each channel is assumed to be 40 Gbps for all cases. It is confirmed that the optimal position offset of OPC and optimal dispersion offset of fiber section are gradually increased as the WDM channel numbers are gradually increased. But, the optimal dispersion values of fiber sections per OPC position offset of 1 km are independent on WDM channel numbers, because the optimal position offset of OPC and optimal dispersion offset of fiber section are simultaneously increased as the WDM channel numbers are increased. It is also confirmed that the applying of these optimal parameter values is efficient to WDM system with many channels rather than WDM with small channels.

  • The signal in wireless multi-path channel is affected by fading and ISI because of high data rate transmission, so the signal has the high error rate. The present modulation and demodulation method of DSRC system can not expect sufficient for providing data service over 1 Mbps, so the channel equalization and advanced modulation and demodulation methods are required. OFDM is generally known as an effective technique for high data rate transmission system, since it can prevent ISI by inserting a guard interval. However, a guard interval longer than channel delay spread has to be used in each OFDM symbol period, thus resulting a considerable loss in the efficiency of channel utilization Therefore the equalizer is necessary to cancel ISI to accommodate advanced ITS service with higher bit rate and longer channel delay spread condition In this paper, the channel equalizer for the OFDM -DSRC system was designed and its performance in a multi-path fading environment was evaluated with computer simulation.

Comparison of Channel Estimation Schemes for Digital Broadcasting System in a Mobile Environment (이동 환경에서 디지털 방송 시스템을 위한 채널 추정 기법의 성능 비교)

  • In this paper, the performances of various channel estimation schemes for DVB-H system are investigated. The linear interpolation, the second order interpolation, the cubic spline interpolation, and the time-domain interpolation, which are used in frequency domain, are chosen as the channel estimation schemes. We derived the performances of Mean Square Error (MSE), Bit Error Rate (BER), and the complexity of calculation in Rayleigh and Rician fading channel through computer simulations. From the simulation results, the cubic spline interpolation shows the best performance under high $E_b/N_0$ environments.

  • Since the existing analog village broadcasting system has some technical problems in applying and degradations in performance due to its old equipments, it had been required recently to be changed to a wireless digital system and to develop the standardization. However, it is important to analyze the interference between villages in deploying the efficient digital wireless village broadcasting system. In this paper, simulations for co-channel and adjacent channel interference have been carried out considering digital private mobile radio(dPMR) and digital mobile radio(DMR) systems as a representative mobile radio. These results for frequency reuse and channel separation drawn from the separation distance between villages in co-channel interference and the frequency offset in adjacent interference can be helpful to establish a standard and the testing service in the near future.

  • In this paper, the performance of OFDM/64QAM systems under Rummler model based cable channel is evaluated through computer simulation, and then the degree of performance improvement is estimated when adopting adaptive LMS equalizer. From the performance evaluation results, in the Rummler two-ray channel model, it is known that the performance improvement degree by adopting equalizer is greatly increased in case of attenuation coefficient of reflected ray (b) being less than 0.15, but when attenuation coeffcient (b) is larger than 0.15, the performance improvement degree by adopting equalizer shows little changes in almost all range of Eb/No.

  • In this paper, we investigated performance for 5.8GHz dedicated short range communication system using OFDM which will be applied to Intelligent transportation system services. The maximum speed of a vehicle in DSRC channel is very fast as 180km/h, so a service time is very short to serve a various traffic information if hand-off is not occurred. Therefore higher bit rate is required to proved advanced and intelligent service to the drivers of various vehicle and the data transmission rate of the next generation DSRC system if being promoted over 10Mbps. The signals received in Racian channel have been simulated using the computer simulator. For performance improvement, BCH coding scheme are adopted.

  • DVB-T2 system developed by DVB project is the next generation digital terrestrial television broadcasting standard designed for offering HDTV service in a post-Analog Switch Off (AOS) environment. In this paper, the performance of DVB-T2 is evaluated with the help of computer simulation. The bits error rate(BER) performance is studied in both AWGN, Rayleigh, Ricean and 0db-echo channel. Firstly, we will give a brief introduction to DVB-T2 system and then compare its BER performance to that of Implementation Guideline.

  • The reliability of conventional wireless communication systems are diminished by multi-path fading, shadowing, propagation delay, pathloss, AWGN and an interference of the symbols. Therefore, we need more reliable system which can stably transmit multimedia datas over the poor communication environments, so, in this paper, we used STBC system based on STTC that allows a maximum space diversity gain of STBC scheme and channel efficiency, coding gain and diversity gain of STTC scheme at the same time. We did then analyzed the performance over the correlated slow fading channel between transmitter and receiver channels.

  • Nowdays the mobile traffic have been greatly increasing. This traffic increment has been caused the lack of frequency. To solve this problem, many study to improve the frequency efficiency in the field of mobile communication has been performed in a variety angle. However this kind of study was focused to 1:1 traffic. This paper propose the allocation scheme of the receiving channel in 1:N group traffic. This method apply to the TRS(Trunk Radio System) that use for the emergency disaster telecommunications. The result of the study show the performance improvement in the call loss ratio and load distribution in the group channel.

A Simulation Study on the Improvement of the Waterway of Kwangyang Harbour (광양항 항로 개선에 관한 Simulation 연구)

  • Kwangyang harbour has been developed very rapidly and has 20 berths including 2 for 250,000DWT bulk carriers at the terminal of Kwangyang Steel Company only. In addition to this, the port is developing a container terminal with 10 berths for 50,000GRT container ships, the construction of which is scheduled to be finished in the year 2000. Because of these development, it has been pointed out that the existing waterways are not wide and safe enough for the new large ships to be catered for. This work, therefore, aimed to examine the naviga-tional safety of the waterways of Kwangyang Harbour, and to suggest how to improve the existing water-ways for the large ships to be introduced in the near future. In examining the safety of the existing and newly suggested waterways, waterway design simulation methodology has been applied. From this study, it has been suggested that the No.4 navigational channel has to be dredged to the depth of 22.5 meters and used as an entrance channel only, while the No.3 channel is used as an exit channel. Additionally, a new waterway has been recommended to be established over the Myodo Island for the container ships which will use the new terminal, the width of which has been recommended to be 400 meters with 440 meters from the bend area.
