A Study on the Verification of Integrity of Message Structure in Naval Combat Management System

  • 함정 전투관리체계는 다양한 센서, 무장 장비들이 연동 노드를 통해 연결되며 체계내 노드간 효율적인 통신을 위해 DDS(Data Distribution Service) 통신을 활용한다. DDS를 사용하기 위해 체계내 응용소프트웨어 사이에는 DDS토픽을 기본으로 하는 PUB/SUB(Publication/Subscribe)방식으로 통신한다. 이 PUB/SUB방식으로 통신하는 DDS 메시지 구조가 일치하지 않으면 송수신 응용소프트웨어에서 잘못된 명령처리 및 정보전달 등 문제가 발생한다. 이를 개선하기 위해 본 논문에서는 해시트리를 활용한 DDS 메시지 구조 무결성 검증 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법의 전투관리체계에 적용가능성을 확인하기 위해, 제안하는 방법의 메시지 구조 무결성 검증률을 측정하고 전투관리체계의 운용과 개발과정에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 전투관리체계 초기화 시간 비교, 메시지 해시트리의 생성시간 측정을 하였다. 이 시험을 통해 본 논문에서 제안하는 체계 안정성을 위한 메시지 구조 검증 방법이 함정 전투관리체계에 적용 가능함을 확인하였다.

Optimizing Concurrent Spare Parts Inventory Levels for Warships Under Dynamic Conditions

  • The inventory level of concurrent spare parts (CSP) has a significant impact on the availability of a weapon system. A failure rate function might be of particular importance in deciding the CSP inventory level. We developed a CSP optimization model which provides a compromise between purchase costs and shortage costs on the basis of the Weibull and the exponential failure rate functions, assuming that a failure occurs according to the (non-) homogeneous Poisson process. Computational experiments using the data obtained from the Korean Navy identified that, throughout the initial provisioning period, the optimization model using the exponential failure rate tended to overestimate the optimal CSP level, leading to higher purchase costs than the one using the Weibull failure rate. A Pareto optimality was conducted to find an optimal combination of these two failure rate functions as input parameters to the model, and this provides a practical solution for logistics managers.

조선 세종시대 병선(兵船)의 해방(海防)전략·전술 (Strategic and Tactical Use of Naval Ship for Maritime Defense during the reign of King Sejong)

  • The purpose of this article is to examine the 'Discussion of maritime defense' which began to be discussed from the late Goryeo dynasty to the early Joseon dynasty and the process of establishing a maritime defense system. Also it can identify changes in the aspects of the naval ship operation and their strategic tactics during the reign of King Sejong. Japanese raiders began a full-scale invasion from 1350 at the late Goryeo Dynasty, So the government realized the need to raise the 'Sea power' and to organize the maritime defense system for defending enemy invasion. for example, the reinforcement of naval forces, construction of warships, develoment of weapon systems and so on. which have achieved remarkable growth while continuing, have also been used to carry out a three-time 'Conquest of Daemado' in 1389, 1396, 1419. Until then, however, it is difficult to interpret that the naval forces had a systematic and organizational combat operation system. According to fighting patterns on combat reports before the early days of King Sejong's reign, Our naval forces had no advantage over the Japanese raiders in terms of their capabilities and tactics. Then, the period of King Sejong marked a watershed in maritime defense history. Based on accumulated experience of naval battles and force Projections, The paradigm shift of the naval strategic tactics for maritime defense has occurred. First, the capability of the naval vessels has improved. for example, ship speed, durability, and weather resistance. Through these efforts, navy forces were able to pursue and attack, destroy enemy's ships by taking advantage of the 'Ship speed superiority'. This has led to tactical shifts from defensive to offensive. Second, purpose to support offensive tactics, the government put a strategic plan into practice that is the forward depolyment of naval bases from the inland to the coast, considering the 'sea environment' and 'threat'. By doing so, Joseon dynasty was able to secure 'the command of the sea'. This may be a little different from the perception of the so-called 'peace period' that King Sejong's era. We need to remember that Joseon dynasty was working hard for its defense. When studying history of maritime defense, these strategic and tactical elements must be fully considered. Only then we can have a coherent understanding of the many naval battles in the past, including the Imjin War(1592-1598).

수중 교전 시뮬레이션을 위한 페더레이션 개발 (The Federation Development for Underwater Warfare Simulation)

  • 최근 무기체계는 성능이 다양하고 복잡해지고 있으며 에 따라 개발 위험 요소가 증대하고 있다. 이에 따라 무기체계 회득 비용의 감소 및 획득 기간의 감소 요구가 증대되고 있다. 이와 같은 획득 환경 아래에서 무기체계를 보다 효율적으로 개발하기 위하여 무기체계 소요제기에서부터 국방 M&S 기법을 적용할 필요성이 대두되면서 M&S 체계를 개발하여 적용하고 있다. 분산 환경하에서 모델링 및 시뮬레이션에 대한 중요성이 강조되면서 시뮬레이션 모델들의 상호운용성, 재사용성 및 확장성을 향상시키고 데이터 교환 및 시간 진행을 조절하는 등의 장점을 지닌 HLA, SEDRIS 등의 M&S 표준이 개발되었고 상호운용성을 개선시킬 수 있도록 체계공학적인 절차인 FEDEP(Federation Development & Execution Process)을 개발하고 이 절차의 사용을 권장하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 5단계의 표현을 기준으로 사용하여 해양무기체계 시뮬레이션 기반 설계 기술 구축 연구의 해양무기체계 Test Bed를 개발하기 위한 Prototype으로 수중 교전 시뮬레이터(Underwater Engagement Simulation:UNES)를 구성함에 있어 통합 아키텍처로 HLA를 채택하고 있다. 따라서, 미래의 확장성을 위하여 FEDEP에 따라 시뮬레이터를 개발하였으며 UNES 개발에 FEDEP를 적용하는 과정을 기술하고 그 과정 동안에 확인하여야 할 사항에 대하여 정리하였다.

데이터마이닝을 활용한 해군함정 수리부속 수요예측 (Naval Vessel Spare Parts Demand Forecasting Using Data Mining)

  • Recent development in science and technology has modernized the weapon system of ROKN (Republic Of Korea Navy). Although the cost of purchasing, operating and maintaining the cutting-edge weapon systems has been increased significantly, the national defense expenditure is under a tight budget constraint. In order to maintain the availability of ships with low cost, we need accurate demand forecasts for spare parts. We attempted to find consumption pattern using data mining techniques. First we gathered a large amount of component consumption data through the DELIIS (Defense Logistics Intergrated Information System). Through data collection, we obtained 42 variables such as annual consumption quantity, ASL selection quantity, order-relase ratio. The objective variable is the quantity of spare parts purchased in f-year and MSE (Mean squared error) is used as the predictive power measure. To construct an optimal demand forecasting model, regression tree model, randomforest model, neural network model, and linear regression model were used as data mining techniques. The open software R was used for model construction. The results show that randomforest model is the best value of MSE. The important variables utilized in all models are consumption quantity, ASL selection quantity and order-release rate. The data related to the demand forecast of spare parts in the DELIIS was collected and the demand for the spare parts was estimated by using the data mining technique. Our approach shows improved performance in demand forecasting with higher accuracy then previous work. Also data mining can be used to identify variables that are related to demand forecasting.

3D 프린팅 수리부품의 작전현장 적용을 위한 방안 (Applying 3D Printing Spare Parts to Operation Field)

  • 3D프린팅은 '12년 세계경제포럼에서 떠오르는 10대 기술 중 2번째로 선정이 되었고 기존 산업의 패러다임을 변화시켜 제조업 혁신과 신 시장을 창출할 핵심기술로 대두되었다. 미국 등 주요 선도 국가들은 3D 프린팅을 국방 분야에 적극 확대해 나가고 있으며, 우리나라 역시 3D 프린팅의 군사적 활용을 위해 국방 수리부품 생산기술 확보 및 국방전문인력 양성을 추진하고 있다. 이에 본 논문은 기존의 무기체계 개발단계, 양산단계, 운영유지단계의 부품 국산화 개발관리 절차를 활용하여 향후 신뢰성 있는 3D 프린팅 수리부품을 효율적으로 작전현장에 적용하기 위한 방안을 제시하였다.

군사 작전계획을 위한 모델링 시뮬레이션 활용 방안 연구 (A Study on the Application of Modeling and Simulation for Planing Military Operations)

  • Modeling and simulation has widely been used in the weapon systems acquisition, the military training, and the warfighting experimentation. A study of the warfighting experimentation had been relatively scarce in comparison to other fields (acquisition, training). The main reasons are 1) reliability of simulation model isn't sufficient and 2) collaboration between professional groups is too difficult. To solve this problem, the application framework of warfighting experimentation for military operations was proposed. And through the framework, the case study about sea fight was fulfilled. This framework provides connectivity between warfighting experimentation and military operations planning procedure. With improved reliability, active application of warfighting experimentation could contribute to fighting capability.

수조에서의 원통형 구조물 음향방사효율 측정에 관한 연구 (Measurement of Acoustic Radiation Efficiency of the Submerged Circular Cylindrical Structure in Water Tank)

  • Underwater radiated noise is an important characteristic in the naval weapon systems. It is difficult to measure the radiation efficiency of underwater vehicle, such as UUV(unmanned underwater vehicle) and underwater weapons in real operation environment. In this study, acoustic radiation efficiency of a circular cylindrical structure is measured in the laboratory-water tank. The radiation efficiency is compared with the numerical results and it is found that they are in a good agreement. Therefore, the measurement method can be applied effectively for predicting the underwater radiation noise and effectiveness of radiation reduction means.

해상기반 탄도미사일 방어체계의 임무효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Mission Effect of a Sea-based BMD system)

  • North Korea has continued developing ballistic missiles with various ranges. Even through the recent launch long-range missiles, it can be inferred that North Korea's Missile technology has reached a level where it can even threaten the US. moreover, through the three times nuclear tests, North Korea is known to have succeeded at gaining 10~20KT of explosive power as well as the minimization and lightening of nuclear warhead. Considering the short length of war zone in Korean peninsula and the possibility of nuclear equipment, if be the most severe threat across the whole peninsula. Since the midcourse phase flight takes the longest time, ROK should establish the ability to intercept at this middle phase. From this perspective, this paper describes mission effect of a sea-based BMD system through empirical threat and flight characteristic analysis using MIT model that was not suggested in original research.

전투체계 시스템을 위한 실시간 환경에서의 비동기 이중화 기법 연구 (A Study on Real Time Asynchronous Data Duplication Method for the Combat System)

  • In a naval combat system, the information processing node is a key functional equipment and performs major combat management functions including control sensor and weapon systems. Therefore, a failure of one of the node causes fatal impacts on overall combat system capability. There were many methodologies to enhance system availability by reducing the impact of system failure like a fault tolerant method. This paper proposes a fault tolerant mechanism for information processing node using a replication algorithm with hardware duplication. The mechanism is designed as a generic algorithm and does not require any special hardware. Therefore all applications in combat system can use this functionality. The asynchronous characteristic of this mechanism provides the capability to adapt this algorithm to the module which has low performance hardware.
