One major concern that has occupied the mind of the designers is a structural failure as result of stress concentration in the geometrical discontinuities. Understanding the effective parameters contribute to stress concentration and proper selection of these parameters enables the designer get to a reliable design. In the analysis of perforated isotropic and orthotropic plates, the effective parameters on stress distribution around holes include load angle, curvature radius of the corner of the hole, hole orientation and fiber angle for orthotropic materials. This present paper tries to examine the possible effects of these parameters on stress analysis of infinite perforated plates with central quasi-square hole applying grey wolf optimizer (GWO) inspired by the particular leadership hierarchy and hunting behavior of grey wolves in nature, and also the present study tries to introduce general optimum parameters in order to achieve the minimum amount of stress concentration around this type of hole on isotropic and orthotropic plates. The advantages of grey wolf optimizer are stout, flexible, simple, and easy to be enforced. The used analytical solution is the expansion of Lekhnitskii's solution method. Lekhnitskii applied this method for the stress analysis of anisotropic plates containing circular and elliptical holes. Finite element numerical solution is employed to examine the results of present analytical solution. Results represent that by selecting the aforementioned parameters properly, fewer amounts of stress could be achieved around the hole leading to an increase in load-bearing capacity of the structure.
Membrane type Mark III cargo containment system (CCS) is considered in this study to investigate its strength capability under applied loads due to liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo. A rectangular plated structure supported by inner hull structure is exemplified from Mark III CCS according to classification society's guidance and it is assumed as multi-layered structure by stacking plywood, triplex, reinforced polyurethane (PU) foam and series of mastic upon inner hull structure. Commercially available general purpose finite element analysis package is used to have reliable FE models of Mark III CCS plate. The FE models and anisotropic failure criteria such as maximum stress, Hoffman, Hill, Tsai-Wu and Hashin taking into account the direction dependent material properties of Mark III CCS plate components and their material properties considering a wide variation of temperature due to the nature of LNG together form the strength analysis procedure of Mark III CCS plate. Strength capability of Mark III CCS plate is understood by its initial failure and post-initial failure states. Results are represented in terms of failure loads and locations when initial failure and post-initial failures are occurred respectively. From the results the basic design information of Mark III CCS plate is given.
The aims of this article is to examine that Daegeum Sanjo Rhythm (DSR) compare with Jinyang-jangdan and Jajinmori-jangdan on music therapy. Daegeum has the largest range of notes in wind instruments through Korean music. Jangdan is the essential element of rhythm in Korean music. Just as human body sound and resonant with their rhyme and meters, jangdan has its own rhythms of physical structures and sequence and repeat. Jinyang-jangdan, which is close to western minor code, expresses heartbreaking grief and great mourning feeling, so it makes one feel the catharsis through that rhythm. Jinyang-jangdan of daegeum music may be slow, but it can be sublimated into grim music for human. So, people overcome the sadness through grim music. On the other hand, jajinmori-jangdan gives charm and gaiety to people and to everything. So, it is exciting that it's often performed in festival and parade. Rhythmical music is a tool to improve the well-being of humanity and increase our life choices. Therefore, music therapy surely needs both influences of daegeum sanjo music regardless of the rhythm. Because, daegeum sanjo music is nature-friendly music of the rhythm.

The buckling load of a blade stiffened laminated composite plate having midplane symmetry is maximized for a given total weight. The thicknesses of the layers and the width and height of the stiffener are taken as the design variables. Buckling analysis is carried out using a finite element method. The optimization problem is solved using an IMSL subroutine. Due to the highly nonlinear nature of the optimality equations, several local optimum solutions are found. Various combinations of fiber orientation for the laminate layers and the blade stiffener are investigated to examine their relative efficiency. Out of several cases examined, the best design was produced from the combination of ($0^{\circ}Beam/0^{\circ}/90^{\circ}$)s.

A simplified method for determining the mode components of the strain energy release rate of free-edge delaminations in laminated composite is proposed. The interlaminar stresses are evaluated as an interface moment and interface shear forces that are obtained from the equilibrium equations at the interface between the adjacent layers. Deformation of an edge-delaminated laminate is calculated by using a generalized quasi-three dimensional classical laminated plate theory developed by the authors. The analysis provides closed-form expression for the three components of the strain energy release rate. Comparison of results with a finite element solution using the virtual crack closure technique shows good agreement. In the present study, laminated composite with stacking sequences of [30/-30/90]$_{s}$ were examined. The simple nature of the method makes it suitable for primary design analysis for the delaminations of laminated composite.e.

Heat Shock Transcription Factor (HSF), and the promoter heat Shock Element (HSE), are among the most highly conserved transcriptional regulatory elements in nature. HSF mediates the transcriptional response of eukaryotic cells to heat, infection and inflammation, pharmacological agents, and other stresses. While HSF is essential for cell viability in yeast, oogenesis and early development in Drosophila, extended life-span in C. elegans, and extra-embryonic development and stress resistance in mammals, little is known about its full range of biological target genes. We used whole genome analyses to identify virtually all of the direct transcriptional targets of yeast HSF, representing nearly three percent of the genomic loci. The majority of the identified loci are heat-inducibly bound by yeast HSF, and the target genes encode proteins that have a broad range of biological functions including protein folding and degradation, energy generation, protein secretion, maintenance of cell integrity, small molecule transport, cell signaling, and transcription. Approximately 30% of the HSF direct target genes are also induced by the diauxic shift, in which glucose levels begin to be depleted. We demonstrate that phosphorylation of HSF by Snf1 kinase is responsible for expression of a subset of HSF targets upon glucose starvation.

This work presents a method of optimum design for reinforced concrete building frames with rectangular cross sections. The optimization techniques used is based on the principle of divided parameters. The design variable parameters are divided into two groups, external and internal, and the optimization is also divided into external and internal procedure. This principle overcomes difficulties arising from the presence of two materials in one element, the property peculiar to reinforced concrete. Several search algorithms are tested to verify their accuracy for the external optimization. Among them pattern search algorithms has been found consistent. This work proposes a new method, modified pattern search, and a number of sample problems prove its accuracy and usefulness. Exhaustive search for all local minima in the design spaces for two sample problems has been carried out to understand the nature of the problem. The number of local minima identified is quite more than expected and it has become understood that the researcher's task in this field is to find a better local minimum if not global. The designs produced by the method preposed have been found better than those from other method, and they are in full accord with ACI Building Code Requirments(ACI 318-89).
Gas Chromatography (GC) is a wisely technique used for the separation and analysis of liquid and gas sample. Separation of the sample vapors is achieved via their differential migration through a capillary column with an insert carrier gas. The identity and quantity of each vapor in the mixer can be determined from its retention time in the column and a particular property of the gas, such as thermal conductivity, which can be related to the concentration of sample vapor in the carrier gas. Therefore, the flow characteristics in the spiral gas chromatographic column are numerically investigated in this study. Especially, different pressure drop between the front and the rear of GC column with various flow rates is estimated the governing equations are derived from making using of three-dimensional Naver-Stokes equation with incompressible and laminar model due to the nature of low Reynolds number flow. Using a commercial code, FLUENT, the pressure and flow fields in GC column are calculated with various flow rates. The characteristics of thermal cycling which is one of the most important factors affecting the column efficiency and analysis time is also estimated. Furthermore, numerical analyses are also carried out by using commercial code, ANSYS, with various values of power, which is applied to the heating element located at lower GC column.

This paper proposes a core loss analysis method to obtain high accuracy prediction by using Multi-curve representing magnetic properties of a electrical steel in Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Generally, the magnetic prosperities of the electrical steel are measured by Epstein Method based on the international standards that are not good sufficient to predict motor performances. The method only aims to grade products in steel companies The magnetic properties of actual stator core is highly different to those given by steel companies due to the fact that stacking effect, shearing stress, nature anisotropy of electrical steels are not taken into account. In this paper, the magnetic properties are variously measured by three measuring devices, and then the several BH curves and BW curves obtained are used to analyze the core loss of a IPM. The BH curve in the high magnetic field are extrapolated using the mathematical formulation with the maximum saturation magnetic polarization measured

This study aims to inspect changes of physical expression in surfaces of both building interior and exterior in contemporary architecture. Nowadays society has transformed into more complicated framework with the development of the new media and digital technology in 21 century. Surface's expressivity has been changed with design trend and material development. Although surface study has been mainly concentrated on properties of materials and structure characters, new technology and cultural acceptance enables it extend itself to a new area with various design methods, taking its place as an important contemporary architectural element. Interior surface design is expressed with several unique methods such as optical illusion, surface exposure and spacial depth and volume, and it created dynamic space within the surface itself. In case of exterior surface, whole space seems to be designed to be coordinated with structured optical illusion as well as symbolic expression. Surface's area is extends itself with the stream of the times. This study explored the nature of surfaces with categorizing and comparing them in a various views and methods.
