This study examines the recognition of the user's sound command based on speech recognition and natural language processing, and develops the natural language interface agent which can analyze the recognized command. The natural language interface agent consists of speech recognizer and semantic interpreter. Speech recognizer understands speech command and transforms the command into character strings. Semantic interpreter analyzes the character strings and creates the commands and questions to be transferred into the application program. We also consider the problems, related to the speech recognizer and the semantic interpreter, such as the ambiguity of natural language and the ambiguity and the errors from speech recognizer. This kind of natural language interface agent can be applied to the telephony environment involving all kind of communication media such as telephone, fax, e-mail, and so on.

This paper is a study on constructing a natural language interface to database, concentrating on generating textual answers. TGEN, a system that generates textual answer from query result tables is presented. The TGEN architecture guarantees its portability across domains. A combination of a frame-based approach and natural language generation techniques in the TGEN provides text fluency and text flexibility. The implementation result shows that this approach is feasible while a deep NLG approach is still far to be reached.

복합 웹 서비스를 이용하고자 하는 사용자의 요구가 늘어나고 있지만 유비쿼터스 환경에서 일반 사용자들이 쉽게 복합 웹 서비스를 사용할 수 있는 환경은 마련되지 않고 있다. 본 논문에서는 웹 서비스에 대한 기술적인 지식이 없는 일반인들도 쉽게 자신의 요구사항을 표현 가능한 자연어 기반의 사용자 친화적인 인터페이스를 제안한다. 특히 사용자의 표현을 효율적으로 분석하기 위해 사용자의 문장으로부터 정교한 수준의 복합적인 워크플로우를 추출하고, 문장 분석을 통해 적합한 서비스를 찾는 방법을 제안한다. 특히 많은 제어 구문과 구절로 이루어진 복잡한 문장으로부터 정교한 수준의 추상 워크플로우를 추출한다.

자연어에 의한 컴퓨터 조작은 시스템의 사용을 간편하고 편리하게 할 뿐 아니라 인간과 컴퓨터 사이의 정보 전달이라는 측면에서 시스템에 유연성을 제공한다.본 논문에서는 자연어 인터페이스를 지능형 지리교육 시스템(IGTS)에 적응하여 보고, 시스템 구현시 고려해야 할 여러가지 사항들을 설명한다.IGTS의 각 모듈들은 시스템과 학습자간의 자연스런 대화를 위해 인터페이스 모듈과 결합되어 있으며 상호 통신한다.

This study proposes a Natural Language Query Framework (NLQF) on the semantic web to support the intelligent deduction at semantic level. A large number of former researches are focused on the knowledge representation on the semantic web. However, to revitalize the intelligent agent (IA)-based automated e-business contract with human customers, there is a need for semantic level approach to the web information. To enable accessing web information at semantic level, this paper discusses the pattern of complex natural language processing at first, and then the semantic web-based natural language inference in e-business environment. The NL-based approach could help the IAs on the web to communicate with customers and other IAs with more natural interface than traditional HTML-based web information. Therefore, our proposed NLQF will be used in semantic web-based intelligent e-business contracts between customers and IAs.

컴퓨터의 발달과 인터넷 사용자의 증대로 자연어 처리의 연구에 관한 관심이 증대되고 있다. 그러나 대부분의 연구가 자연어 분석 및 이해에 집중되고 있어 자연어 생성에 관한 연구는 주목을 받지 못해 왔으며 자연어 생성을 자연어 분석의 역 과정으로 간단하게 생각하는 경향마저도 있다. 하지만 Web상에서의 다국어간 번역 자연어 인터페이스 자연어 검색 시스템 등 자연어처리에 관한 필요성이 증가함에 따라 자연어 생성의 필요성도 자연히 증가하고 있는 실정이며 좀 더 체계적인 자연어 생성 시스템 개발을 위해서는 자연어 생성에 관한 보다 구체적인 알고리즘에 관한 연구가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 영문 생성에 있어서 보다 자연스러운 문장을 생성하기 위한 알고리즘을 제안하며 특히 Igor Mel'uk (Mel'uk ＆ Zholkovsky, 1988)의 어휘 함수(LFs)를 이용한 어휘 결합을 통하여 절 길이의 설명문을 생성하는 영문 생성기의 구현에 대하여 논한다.

In this paper, artificial intelligence applications in library and information science are reviewed. Especially, natural language processing and expert systems are represented as the two major application areas. In natural language processing, natural language interface systems and .question-answering systems are discussed in detail with some specific examples. In the second part of the paper, online search intermidiary systems, reference expert systems, classification and cataloging expert systems are described as possible expert systems to be developed in libraries and information systems. As a conclusion, implications of the artificial intelligence applications for librarians and information scientists are suggested.

In this study, by using the natural language processing of the field of artificial intelligence, automated index was performed. And then, the Natural Language Processing Interface for knowledge representation(NALPI) has been developed. Furthermore, the DEsign KnOwledge DataBase(DEKODB) has been also developed, which is designed to interlock the knowledge base. The DEKODB processes both the documented design-data, like a concrete standard specification, and the design knowledge from an expert. The DEKODB is also simulates the design space of structures accordance with the production rule, and thus it is determined that DEKODB can be used as a engine to retrieve new knowledge and to implement knowledge base that is necessary to the development of automatic design system. The application field of the system, which has been developed in this study, can be expanded by supplement of the design knowledge at DEKODB and developing dictionaries for foreign languages. Furthermore, the perfect automation at the data accumulation and development of the automatic rule generator should benefit the unified design automation.

In this paper we present a plan-based Korean dialogue system as a natural language database user interface for product search. The system can be characterized by its support for mixed initiative to give user more control over dialogue, employment of user model to reflect user' spreferences, alternative solution suggestion if there is no product matched exactly to user's requirements, handling circumlocution which frequently occurs in dialogues. The user model ing shell system BGP-MS is adapted for the system. The system provides for a user-friendly database user interface bymanaging dialogue intelligently. By its implementation and test it has been shown that the user model-based dialogue system can be utilized effectively for product search.
