린번 천연가스자동차용 산화촉매의 정화 및 열화특성 (Conversion and Aging Characteristics of Oxidation Catalyst for Natural Gas Vehicle with Lean-burn System)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the aging and conversion characteristics of oxidation catalysts for a natural gas vehicle with lean-bum system. The conversion of $CH_4$ was observed over the various composition ratio of PMs(Precious metals) and washcoating methods. On the fresh catalysts, Pd affected on the activity of $CH_4$ at low temperature more than other PMs in Pd-only and Rh/Pd/Pt catalysts. The activity at low temperature increased as a mount of Pd increases. On the aged catalysts, the $CH_4$ conversion efficiency of Pd-only catalyst with mono-layer washcoat decreased more than that of the other catalysts of $CH_4$ conversion. It was observed that the thermal durability of Rh/Pd/Pt catalysts with double-layer washcoat was better than the single washcoat catalyst.

  • The objective of study on composite cylinder for alternative fuel vehicle is to develop safe, efficient, and commercially viable, on-board fuel storage system for the fuel cell vehicle or natural gas vehicle that use highly compressed gaseous fuel such as hydrogen or natural gas. This study presents the whole procedure of development and certification of a type 3 composite cylinder of 207bar service pressure and 70 liter water capacity, which includes design/analysis, processing of filament winding, and validation through various testing and evaluation. Design methods of liner configuration and winding patterns are presented. Three dimensional, nonlinear finite element analysis techniques are used to predict burst pressure and failure mode. Design and analysis techniques are verified through burst and cycling tests. The full qualification test methods and results for validation and certification are presented.

수소-천연가스 혼합연료 차량 연료 공급시스템 수소영향 평가 (Hydrogen Effect Assessment of Fuel Supply Systems for Hydrogen Blended Natural Gas Vehicle)

  • 본 연구는 수소-천연가스 혼합연료 차량에 사용되는 금속 및 비금속재료에 대한 수소영향을 평가하였다. 수소가 30% 혼합된 HCNG연료의 사용 조건(25MPa)에서 34CrMo강은 겨울철 조건에서는 수소 침투량이 0.0018ppm, 여름철 조건에서 5.3ppm으로 측정되었다. 일정하중시험(CLT)에 의한 임계 수소량이 1.03ppm으로 평가되어, 34CrMo 강은 HCNG 사용 조건에서 수소 취화에 의한 취성 파괴를 일으킬 수 있는 것으로 평가된다. 비금속재료에 대한 평가에서는 모든 재료가 시험 기준을 만족하였으나, Fluorocarbon 고무 재질의 경우 체적 변화가 크게 발생하여 사용에 각별한 주의가 요구된다.

  • Simplified thermodynamic analysis of high pressure 4-stage reciprocating compressors with 4 inter-coolers has been investigated to predict a behavior of a compressor system for NGV(natural gas vehicles). A computer program has been developed to predict and estimate the performance of high pressure 4-stage reciprocating compressor system. Thermodynamic properties of compressed natural gas(CNG) were calculated by ideal gas theory and compression cycle was assumed as reversible adiabatic compression and expansion processes, and isobaric intake and discharge processes. Comparison between results predicted by calculation model and measured by experimental tests is presented.

  • 본 논문에서는 자연냉매로 주목받고 있는 이산화탄소(CO2) 를 이용하여 냉동탑차용 고효율 냉동시스템을 개발하였다. 기존의 디젤 차량을 LNG 차량으로 개조하여, 화물차의 배출가스를 개선하고, LNG 연료의 기화 잠열을 활용하여 CO2 냉동시스템의 효율을 높인 친환경적인 냉동탑차를 개발하였다. 그 결과 가스 쿨러에 LNG연료의 기화 잠열을 활용하여 냉동탑차의 COP를 144%로 향상 시켰다.

CNG차량의 연료공급라인용 Check Valve Seal의 거동해석 (Analysis of Check Valve Seal for CNG Vehicle Fuel Supply Line)

  • In CNG (Compressed natural gas) fuel supply line, whose main components are receptacle and check valve are used to charge high pressure gas to the tank of NGV (Natural gas vehicle). It is reported that the seal is separated occasionally form valve seat and results in blockage of gas flow. In this paper, MARC is used to investigate the reasons of seal separation and suggest design improvements. The static gas pressure distributions acting on the seal which calculated using FLUENT are considered to investigate accurate seal deformation behaviors. Deformed seal shapes are obtained for various amounts of seal interference and its location, gas pressure distributions and Young's modulus of the rubber used. The results showed that the reasons of seal separation problems are verified theoretically, and suggested examples of new design method. Therefore the present numerical methods can be applied in designing and performance analysis of rubber seals adopted in high pressure fluid machineries.

EVALUATION OF NOx REDUCTION CATALYST BY MODEL GAS FOR LEAN-BURN NATURAL GAS ENGINE

  • A three-way catalyst system of a natural gas vehicle (NGV) has characteristics of higher fuel consumption and higher thermal load than a lean-bum catalyst system. To meet stringent emission standards in the future, NGV with the lean-bum engine may need a catalyst system to reduce the amounts of HC, CO and NOx emission, although natural gas system has low emission characteristics. We conducted experiments to evaluate the conversion efficiency of the NOx reduction catalyst for the lean-burn natural gas engine. The NOx reduction catalysts were prepared with the ${\gamma}-Al_{2}O_3$ washcoat including Ba based on Pt, Pd and Rh precious metal. In the experiments, effective parameters were space velocity, spike duration of the rich condition, and the temperature of flowing model gas. From the results of the experiments, we found that the temperature for maximum NOx reduction was around $450^{\circ}C$, and the space velocity for optimum NOx reduction was around $30,000\;h^{-1}$ And we developed an evaluation model of the NOx reduction catalyst to evaluate the conversion performance of each other catalysts.

The Effect of Fuel Injection Timing on the Combustion and Emission Characteristics of a Natural Gas Fueled Engine at Part Loads

  • For a sequential port fuel injection natural gas engine, its combustion and emission characteristics at low loads are crucial to meet light duty vehicle emission regulations. Fuel injection timing is an important parameter related to the mixture formation in the cylinder. Its effect on the combustion and emission characteristics of a natural gas engine were investigated at 0.2 MPa brake mean effective pressure (BMEP)/2000 rpm and 0.26 MPa BMEP/1500 rpm. The results show that early fuel injection timing is beneficial to the reduction of the coefficient of variation (COV) of indicated mean effective pressure (IMEP) under lean burn conditions and to extending the lean burn limits at the given loads. When relative air/fuel ratio is over 1.3, fuel injection timing has a relatively large effect on engine.out emissions. The levels of NOx emissions are more sensitive to the fuel injection timing at 0.26 MPa BMEP/1500 rpm. An early fuel injection timing under lean burn conditions can be used to control engine out NOx emissions.

CNG 승용 자동차의 배출가스 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study of Emission Characteristics for CNG Passenger Car)

  • 최근 차량용 에너지의 소비는 대부분 화석연료로부터 사용된다. 기존 화석 연료를 사용하는 자동차보다 친환경적이며 저렴하고 재생이 가능한 연료의 요구증대로 대체연료 자동차산업이 강조되고 있다. 오늘날 고옥탄가와 높은 자기발화온도 특징을 가지고 있는 천연가스는 저렴한 비용, 기존 화석연료보다 풍부한 매장으로 기존 스파크 점화엔진인 가솔린엔진의 대체에너지로 간주되고 있다. 본 연구는 기존 2리터 가솔린 엔진에 CNG 가스 분사시스템을 장착하여 전소 및 혼소 연료분사시스템을 설치하였다. 또한 CNG전소 및 가솔린/CNG 혼소차량의 ECU 제어전략을 최적화 하였다. 혼소차량에 대하여 NEDC모드 주행결과 가솔린 차량 대비 혼소차량의 CO2 저감율을 16%확인하였다. 또한 CO와 HC의 배기가스 배출량은 가솔린 차량과 동등한 수준을 확보하였다. 하지만 NOx의 배기가스 배출수준은 증가된 현상을 확인할 수 있었다.

차량용 LNG연료용기의 단열성능에 관한 연구 (Study on Adiabatic Performance of LNG Storage Tank for Vehicles)

  • 압축천연가스 자동차는 최근 대기환경 개선을 위해 대도시 시내버스에 적용되고 있으며 대기 오염물질을 저감시키는데 효과적인 것으로 입증되고 있다. 압축천연가스의 단점인 낮은 연료저장밀도를 높이기 위해 액화천연가스를 연료로 하는 차량기술이 시도되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 자동차에 액화 천연가스를 적용하기 위한 LNG 저장 용기의 단열특성을 실험적으로 측정하여 기준과의 적합성을 판단하였으며 측정방법에 대한 비교검토를 통해 측정결과의 신뢰성을 제고하였다. 시험용기의 단열성능계수는 $40J/h{\cdot}^{\circ}C{\cdot}m^2$으로 기준범위 이내의 성능을 확인하였으며 두 가지 측정방법들은 상호 일치하는 결과를 보여주었다. 또한 용기의 벤트밸브 동작특성을 조사하여 증발가스의 방출량 특성을 파악하였다.
