  • Due to increase in demand of stable and long pipelines in natural gas industry, wide range of researches are being performed on automation welding to improved welding quality with respect to weld process parameters in real time measurement. In particular, the coupling between the pipe manufacturing process and location of the weld seam, the measured size of the gap that exists in the weld position and the weld angle depending on whether the movement of molten weld. This is due to absence of controlling welding penetration position, depending on the required size of the angle of the setting. In addition, the optimum welding conditions must be considered while selecting, the correlation between these variables and the systematic correlation has not yet been identified. Therefore, in most welded pipe root-pass weld solely depends on the experience of workers in relation to secure a stable weld quality. In this study, automation welding system is implemented to select a suitable root-pass STT (Surface Tension Transfer) welding method using the optimal welding conditions. To successfully accomplish this objective, there were various welding conditions used for welding experiment to confirm that the assessment required for construction through the pipe and automatic welding process is proposed to optimize this plan.

Characterization of Yakju Brewed from Glutinous Rice and Wild-Type Yeast Strains Isolated from Nuruks

  • Korean traditional rice wines yakju and takju are generally brewed with nuruk as the source of the saccharogenic enzymes by natural fermentation. To improve the quality of Korean rice wine, the microorganisms in the nuruk need to be studied. The objective of this research was to improve the quality of Korean wine with the wild-type yeast strains isolated from the fermentation starter, nuruk. Only strain YA-6 showed high activity in 20% ethanol. Precipitation of Y89-5-3 was similar to that of very flocculent yeast (>80%) at 75.95%. Using 18S rRNA sequencing, all 10 strains were identified as Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Volatile compounds present in yakju were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass selective detector. The principal component analysis (PCA) of the volatile compounds grouped long-chain esters on the right side of the first principal component, PC1; these compounds were found in yakju that was made with strains YA-6, Y89-5-3, Y89-5-2, Y90-9, and Y89-1-1. On the other side of PC1 were short-chain esters; these compounds were found in wines that were brewed with strains Y183-2, Y268-3, Y54-3, Y98-4, and Y88-4. Overall, the results indicated that using different wild-type yeast strains in the fermentation process significantly affects the chemical characteristics of the glutinous rice wine.

생태계서비스 가치평가를 활용한 예비타당성조사 편익분석 개선 방향 연구 - 장항습지복원사업 사례를 중심으로 - (A Study on Improving the Estimation of Social Benefits Using the Economic Valuation of Ecosystem Services in Preliminary Feasibility Analyses for Ecological Restoration Projects - Focused on the Case of Janghang Wetland Restoration Project -)

  • This study is to propose the ecosystem service valuation method as a complementary or alternative tool to overcome the limitations of the contingent valuation method(CVM), typically used to assess social benefits in preliminary feasibility studies. With an increasing interest in natural and environmental restoration projects, we assessed social benefits with theses CVM and ecosystem service valuation method from a case of Janghang wetland restoration project and compared the extent of the two social benefits. For quantitative evaluation of ecosystem services, the biophysical quantity for each ecosystem service indicator was calculated and then converted into currency (KRW) units to estimate the economic value of ecosystem services. The four ecosystem regulating service indicators were selected including greenhouse gas capture/storage, air pollution, water quantity and quality regulation. The amounts of CO2 sequestration and storage as a ecosystem's greenhouse gas regulating service in the study area were 73.04 tCO2/yr and 5,867.53 tCO2/yr respectively. The reduction of SO2, one of air pollutant gases by ecosystems was calculated to be 180.27 kg/yr, the reduction of NO2 to be 378.90 kg/yr, and the reduction of fine dust (PM10) to be 9,713.92 kg/yr. The amount of freshwater regulating service by the ecosystem was estimated to be 459,394,319ℓ/yr, and the amount of nitrogen in freshwater removed by the ecosystem was 78.00kg/yr. Study results show that the benefits derived from the CVM were KRW 227.8 billion over the 30-year analysis period and those from the ecosystem service valuation method were KRW 41.4 billion for regulatory services and KRW 148.8 billion for cultural services, totaling KRW 189.5 billion. With KRW 184.8 billion of the total costs, the benefit/cost ratio using the CVM was 1.23 and that with the ecosystem service valuation method was 1.03. This study implications include that the CVM and ecosystem service valuation method can be applied together to assess and compare social benefits for natural and environmental restoration projects.

자동차 윤활유의 성상 및 열화가 환경성에 미치는 영향 연구 (The Research for effect of lubricant oil aging on environmental performance)

  • 현재 국내 엔진오일-윤활유가 배출가스에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구가 미비한 실정이며 그 실험 방법 또한 확립되어 있지 않다. 이에 엔진을 이용한 윤활유 성상 변화가 PM(Particulate Matters) 배출에 미치는 영향 평가방법을 수립하여 윤활유의 성상 및 열화가 자동차 성능과 환경성에 미치는 영향을 연구하고자 한다. 윤활유 소모 및 연소로 인한 DPF(Diesel Particulate Filter) 및 후처리 장치에 미치는 영향을 평가하는 것이 중요하며, 특히 DPF의 재생과정에서 생성되는 PM(Particulate Matters)과 Ash가 DPF에 미치는 장기적인 영향과 내부 변형 및 내구성에 대한 평가와 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 정형화 되지 않은 시험모드를 개발하였으며, 내구시험결과 High SAPs의 경우 Low SAPs(Sulfated Ash, Phosphorus and Sulfuate)보다 DPF내 Ash의 축적량이 많은 것을 확인하였으며, EGR(Exhaust Gas Recycling)의 Fouling 현상 가속화에 영향을 미칠 것으로 확인하였다. 본 연구결과물을 토대로 윤활유의 기유, 첨가제, 열화 등에 따른 엔진 및 차량의 성능과 배출가스 특성을 기술정책 자료로서 활용하도록 방향을 도모하고 시험 방법을 확립하고자 한다.

  • 지진파의 전파속도와 감쇠정도가 불균질한 매질에서 2차원 지진파 단면자료에 대한 주파수-파수 영역에서의 구조보정 방법 및 그 결과를 제시한다. 파동전파의 감쇠효과를 포함시키기 위해 일반화된 주파수-파수 구조보정 방법을 개선하여 파동장의 상향 및 하향 외삽연산자에 복소수 전파속도를 사용한다. 이 복소수 전파속도의 허수 부분은 지진파 감쇠 척도인 Q 값을 포함하도록 한다. 불균질한 전파속도와 비탄성을 가진 매질 속에서의 전파방정식의 해를 얻기 위해, 불균질한 매질자체를 일정한 전파속도와 비탄성을 갖는 평균적 매질과 가상적 파동원의 불균질한 분포로 규합된 등가의 시스템으로 취급한다. 가상적 파동원은 전파속도와 매질비탄성의 불균질 정도에 따라 그 세기가 좌우된다. 이 방법에 의해 수 개의 구조 모델에 대해 수치적으로 계산된 결과는 기존의 일반화된 파수-주파수 구조 보정 방법에 의한 것보다 더욱 선명한 단면 영상을 보여주며 파의 비탄성에 의해 불명확하게된 영상신호가 복원된다. 이 방법은 석유나 천연가스가 부존된 구조 또는 파쇄대가 존재하는 지역에서 획득된 자료를 구조보정하는데 유용하게 쓰일 것이다.

  • 새로운 발전설비의 건설부지 확보의 어려움을 극복하고 친환경적인 에너지시스템으로 분산형 초소형 가스터빈이 주목받고 있다. 분산형 초소형 가스터빈 발전시스템은 다음과 같은 장점을 가지고 있다. 첫째는 친환경성으로서 NOx < 9 ppm, 소음 < 65 dB, 둘째는 다양한 연료를 사용할 수 있으며 천연가스 뿐만 아니라, 디젤, 저발열량 신재생에너지원료, 등유이다. 셋째는 작은 면적대비 높은 출력을 얻을 수 있고 컴팩트한 건설이 가능하다. 1998년부터 미국에서 개발되어 캘리포니아 및 일본등에서 활발히 적용되고 있다. 기존의 대용량 발전시스템이 주로 바닷가 근처에 건설되었다면 본 시스템은 수요자 인근에 설치되어 열과 전기를 동시에 공급하고 있으며 다양한 적용처에 에너지를 공급한다. 최근들어 국내에서는 신재생에너지의 개발, 보급이 아주 중요한 이슈로 떠오르고 있는 가운데, 이러한 소형 분산전원의 적용성이 많이 요구되고 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 분산형 가스터빈의 최적 현장 적용을 위하여 필수적인 계통연계를 통한 병열운전 모델링과 실증시험 및 평가과정을 분석하여 에너지 품질을 정립하고자 한다.

DME를 이용한 경유자동차의 유해대기오염물질 발생 특성 연구 (A Study on Hazardous Air Pollutant Emissions From Diesel Engines Utilizing DME Fuel)

  • Recently, lots of researchers have been attracted to develop various alternative fuels and to use renewable fuels in order to solve the exhaust emission problems. DME (Dimethylether) is synthetic fuel, and can be produced from natural gas, coal and biomass. The emission is clean because it contains little sulfur and aromatic components In this study, the fuel was tested to investigate the applicability as an alternative fuel for diesel. This study was carried out by comparing the exhaust emissions and performance of diesel engine with DME, ULSD (ultra low sulfur diesel), LSD (low sulfur diesel) respectively. In order to measure regulated emissions, CO, $NO_{3}$, HC from vehicle different fuel types were used on chassis dynamometer CVS (constant volume sampler)-75 mode and EPA TO-I1A method was chosen for aldehydes analysis.

부산지역 경유버스를 CNG버스로 대체시 발생하는 대기오염물질 배출량 산정 및 변화 분석 (Estimation of Air Pollutant Emissions for the Conversion of Diesel to CNG in the Busan Metropolitan Area)

  • The emissions of several air pollutants ($NO_x$, CO, VOCs, etc.) for the replacement of all diesel buses by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses were estimated in the Busan Metropolitan Area (BMA). These emissions were calculated from emission factors considering the different driving speeds with bus routes, distance traveled, and deterioration factors. For the purpose of this study, three categories of fuel type were selected: (1) the combination of diesel (65%) and CNG buses (35%) (DSL+CNG case), (2) all diesel buses (DSL case), and (3) all CNG buses (CNG case). The emissions of $NO_x$ and CO in the CNG case were estimated to be significant decreases (by about 50% and 98%, respectively) relative to the DSL case. Conversely, the emission of VOCs (980.7 ton/year) in the CNG case were a factor of 3.3 higher than that (299.8 ton/year) in the DSL case. In addition, the diurnal variations of emissions between two city buses (e.g. diesel and CNG) and all other vehicles were distinctly different because the two city buses operate at a regular time interval. Our overall results suggest the possibility that the pollutant emissions from the CNG buses can exert less influence on air quality in the target area than those from the diesel buses.

A study on the developments of STCW training of seafarers on ships applying in the IGF Code

  • The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has been regulating emissions by making mandatory the compliance with institutions aimed at protecting air quality such as the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) and Tier III. Under the circumstances, one of the response measures considered to be the most feasible is the replacement of existing marine fuel with Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). The industry has been preemptively building infrastructure and developing and spreading engine technology to enable the use of LNG-fueled ships. The IMO, in turn, recently adopted the International Code of Safety for Ships Using Gases or Other Low-Flash-Point Fuels (IGF Code) as an institutional measure. Thus, it is required to comply with regulations on safety-related design and systems focused on response against potential risk for LNG-fueled ships, in which low-flash-point fuel is handled in the engine room. Especially, the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Convention was amended accordingly. It has adopted the qualification and training requirements for seafarers who are to provide service aboard ships subject to the IGF Code exemplified by LNG-fueled ships. The expansion in the use of LNG-fueled ships and relevant facilities in fact is expected to increase demand for talents. Thus, the time is ripe to develop methods to set up appropriate STCW training courses for seafarers who board ships subject to the IGF Code. In this study, the STCW Convention and existing STCW training courses applied to seafarers offering service aboard ships subject to the IGF Code are reviewed. The results were reflected to propose ways to design new STCW training courses needed for ships subject to the IGF Code and to identify and improve insufficiencies of the STCW Convention in relation to the IGF Code.

고로슬래그 미분말과 순환잔골재를 사용하는 친환경 모르타르에 탈황석고 및 시멘트에 의한 품질향상 (Improving Quality of Eco-Mortar Incorporating Blast Furnace Slag and Recycled Aggregate Depending on Replacement Gypsum and Cement)

  • 최근, 콘크리트 산업에서는 $CO_2$ 배출량감소등 환경문제와 함께 부존자원의 고갈대책도 중요한 문제점으로 제기되어, 이를 동시에 해결하기 위하여 각종 산업부산물이나 산업폐기물을 콘크리트용 자원으로 재이용하는 방법이 연구되고 있다. 본 연구는 고로슬래그 미분말(BS)과 순환잔골재(RFA) 혼합 모르타르를 기반으로 하여 BS의 잠재수경성 반응을 탈황석고(FGD)와 보통포틀랜드 시멘트(OPC)의 자극반응으로 추가 활성화시킴으로써 일반 강도영역까지의 모르타르 활용성을 검토하고자 하였다. 결과적으로, BS에 FGD 10%, OPC 30%를 치환하고 RFA를 사용할 경우 OPC만을 사용하는 플레인 모르타르의 80%정도인 보통강도모르타르가 발휘되었지만 실용적인 측면에서 유동성적으로 플로치를 동일하게 유지하는 물-결합재를 낮춰 주게 된다면 더욱 플레인 강도영역에 근접할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
