CIDR를 이용한 재래 흑염소의 발정동기화와 인공수정 (Effect of CIDR on Estrus Synchronization and Artificial Insemination of Korean Native Goat)

  • 본 연구는 재래 흑염소의 인공수정기술을 개발하여 우수한 재래 흑염소의 이용효율을 극대화시키는데 그 목적을 두고 축산연구소 가축유전자원 시험장에서 사육하고 있는 재래 흑염소의 정액을 채취하여 이를 동결보존한 후 필요시 사용하였다. 발정동기화 처리로 인위적으로 발정을 유기한 개체에 인공수정을 실시하여 처리방법별 발정 유기율, 호르몬의 변화양상 및 분만율을 조사하였다. 발정동기화 방법 중 CIDR+$PGF_2a$ 방법에서 $55.6\%$, CIDR+PMSG 방법에서 $40.0\%$ 발정이 발현되었다. CIDR+$PGF_2a$와 CIDR+PMSG 두 처리구에서 CIDR삽입 후 progesterone 농도가 상승하여 CIDR 제거하는 당일까지 높은 수준의 progesterone의 혈중 농도를 유지하였다. 그러나 CIDR를 제기하면 다음날 바로 그 농도가 1 ng/mL 수준으로 급격히 떨어지는 것을 확인함으로써 재래 흑염소의 발정동기화를 위해 CIDR를 이용하는 것이 유용한 방법으로 확인되었다. 이들 중 CIDR+$PGF_2a$를 사용하였을 경우 신선 정액에서 $25\%$, 동결정액에서 $20\%$의 분만율을 나타내었다.

  • Reciprocal crosses were conducted between three strains of Taiwan Country chickens, developed in the National Chung-Hsing University, and two strains of Single Comb White Leghorns, developed in the Taiwan Livestock Research Institute. Traits studied were growing performances, laying performances, egg quality traits and traits concerning disease resistance, including resistance to Marek's disease virus and immune responses to Newcastle disease virus vaccine and to sheep red blood cell. Results indicated that laying performances of Taiwan country chickens were much inferior to White Leghorns, but they matured earlier, their eggs had better shell strength and larger proportion of yolk, and their general disease resistance was much better than White Leghorns. Heterosis were found in laying performances and egg quality traits. The heterosis in laying traits was so large that the hybrid laid as many eggs and as large eggs as did pure strains of White Leghorns. Strategies on the improvement of native chickens and the utilization of genetic merits of native chickens were also discussed.

폐렴우와 Klebsiella pneumoniae 실험적 감염 랫드의 기관 및 기관지 점막층에서 Globule leukocyte의 출현양상 (Appearance of globule leukocytes in tracheal and broncheal mucosa in Korean native cattle with pneumonia and rats experimentally infected with Klebsiella pneumoniae)

  • The study was aimed at identifying the globule leukocytes (GL) of tracheal mucosa layer of Korean native cattle showing symptom of pneumonia which have died as enterotoxemia and normal Korean native cattle in Kyungpook local area. In another set of experiment, Isolated Klebsiella pneumoniae from suddenly died cattle specimens was subjected to rat for a determining globule leukocyte appearance by using histochemical and immunohistochemical method. In histochemical study, globule leukocytes generally was existed in all the case of postmortem of Korean native cattle and 3 heads of slaughtered cattle which showing symptoms of pneumonia and it showed significant increase in tracheal mucosa of rats experimentally infected with Klebsiella pneumoniae. These increased number of globule leukocytes was moderately remained on early infection stage and gradually decreased in timedependent manner after infection. The granule patterns were also determined as an acidmucopolysaccharide. In immunohistochemical study, serotonin intensity in the treacheal mucosaepithelial cells of rat experimentally infected observed a strong immunoreactivity during early infection and gradually decreased in dependent of infection stage while no IgE immunoreactivity observed. These data show that globule leukocytes were increased in a pneumonia, therefore it was considered as a valuable cell that was associated with early stage of inflammatory response.

Analysis of Genetic Relationship Among Native Pears Grown in Korea and Several Commercially Developed Cultivars from Two Pyrus Species Based on RAPD Analysis

  • RAPD analysis showed that all the OTUs of 'Sandolbae' were the same species because amplified band patterns of all samples generated by each of 5 random primers were identical. Even though there were different environmental conditions, all the "Chuiangne" trees from three different places were the same species, and also all the "Cheongshilli" trees were the same species too. No genetic variations were detected between native Korean pears grown in the habitats and in the research field. Because 212 polymorphic bands were generated by 9 primers selected through primer screening, they were possible to analyze genetic relationship among naturally growing three native Korean pears and nine cultivars of Pyrus pyrifolia and P. communis. Based on the RAPD analysis, three main groups were formed. The first group represented the Six P. pyrifoia cultivars, the second group was the three native Korean pears, and the last group was the three P. communis cultivars. Genetic distance between 'Wonwhang' and 'Chojuro' was closer than other cultivars in group 1 since dissimilarity index value between these two cultivars was 50.82. However, genetic distance between 'Niitaka' and 'Chojuro' was the most distant compared to the others in group 1. In group 2, 'Sandlobae' was genetically closer to 'Chuiangne' than 'Cheongshilli' because dissimilarity index value between 'Sandlobae' and 'Chuiangne' was smaller, 50.82, than the value between 'Sandlobae' and 'Cheongshilli', 63.636. In group 3, 'Old Home' was genetically closer to 'Bartlett' than 'Kaiser Alexander(or Bosc)'. Group 3 composed of P. communis cultivars was genetically further than other two groups, P. pyrifolia cultivars and native Korean pears.

충남 도서지역의 민속식물 (Native Plants of the Islands of Chungcheongnam-do)

  • 본 연구는 충남 도서지역의 민속식물을 파악하기 위하여 2011년 3월부터 10월까지 수행되었다. 4개 시 군 지역에 속하는 17개 도서지역에서 주민 50여명을 대상으로 작성된 조사야장 905매의 설문조사를 분석한 결과, 충남 도서지역에서 파악되고 수집된 민속식물은 84과 219속 246종 3아종 22변종 3품종의 총 274분류군이었다. 조사야장에 따른 274분류군에 대한 용도별 이용현황은 식용 169분류군, 약용 134분류군, 관상용 67분류군, 향신료 17분류군, 향료 7분류군, 연료 7분류군, 유지 6분류군, 염료 5분류군, 밀원 4분류군, 섬유 3분류군, 수지 1분류군, 기타 26분류군으로, 식용으로의 이용 빈도가 가장 높았다. 연령별 표준식물명과 지방명의 일치도는 50대가 가장 높았으며, 60대가 가장 낮았다.

Comparison of the Chemical Composition, Textural Characteristics, and Sensory Properties of North and South Korean Native Chickens and Commercial Broilers

  • The objective of this study was to compare the quality characteristics of chicken breast and thigh meat from North Korean native chickens (NKNC), South Korean native chickens (SKNC, woorimotdak), and commercial broilers (CB). NKNC thigh meat had a higher crude protein content than CB. In addition, the breasts of NKNC and CB had higher pH values than that of SKNC, but the cooking loss was higher in NKNC. The surface color of the breast and thigh meat of NKNC was darker and redder than that of SKNC and CB. The total collagen content of the breast and thigh muscles was the highest in NKNC, followed by SKNC and CB. A similar trend occurred with breast meat hardness. The content of arachidonic and docosahexaenoic acids was higher in both the breast and thigh muscles of NKNC than in those of the other groups, while the concentrations of linoleic and linolenic acids were higher only in thigh meat. Sensory evaluation did not show any differences among the three different strains of chicken except for the meat color. Sensory panelists preferred thigh meat from SKNC and CB to that of NKNC due to the strong dark color of the NKNC. Based on these results, NKNC had harder breasts based on texture, as well as a darker surface color and higher composition of long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids than CB. The quality characteristics of SKNC tested in this study were intermediate between NKNC and CB; however, SKNC may have a better chance of acceptance by Korean consumers due to the undesirable color of NKNC.

Evaluation of Meat from Native Chickens: Analysis of Biochemical Components, Fatty Acids, Antioxidant Dipeptides, and Microstructure at Two Slaughter Ages

  • This study examined biochemical components, fatty acids, antioxidant dipeptides, and muscle fiber density of breast and thigh muscles from Korean new native chicken strains (A and B) at two slaughter ages, compared with white semi-broiler (W) or broilers. The pH values were different by chicken breed. The new native strains had the lowest fat content in the breast at 12 wk (p<0.05). Regardless of the muscles, A and B at 12 wk had higher levels of arachidonic acid (ARA; C20:4), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA; C22:6), and nervonic acid (C24:1) than broilers (p<0.05). A similar result was observed for the polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and polyunsaturated and saturated fatty acids ratio (P/S) content in the breast. Irrespective of the muscles, A and B enriched with omega-3 fatty acids had a lower ω-6/ω-3 PUFA ratio than broilers (p<0.05) at 12 wk. Of the antioxidant di-peptides, the anserine contents were highest in A and B than in the W or broilers (p<0.05), regardless of the muscles and slaughter ages. Furthermore, the breast meat from A and B contained a higher muscle fiber density for both slaughter ages than the W and broilers (p<0.05). Based on these findings, even if the commercial birds (broilers or W) are raised under the similar environmental conditions as A and B, the new native chicken strains have distinct meat quality attributes, particularly higher ARA and DHA levels, lower ω-6/ω-3 PUFA ratio, and higher anserine contents.

동애등에 분말 사료 급여가 토종닭의 폐사율과 육질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Dietary Supplementation with Ptecticus tenebrifer Powder on the Mortality Rate and Meat Quality of Korean Native Chickens)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with Ptecticus tenebrifer powder on the mortality and meat quality of Korean native chickens. A total of 40,000 Korean native chickens (1 day old, Hanhyup No. 3) were allocated to two dietary treatments (20,000 chickens in each treatment), which were fed the following: basal diet (control) and 1% of Ptecticus tenebrifer powder (T1). Feeding trials were conducted for 12 weeks, and mortality was measured weekly. At the end of the experimental period, 16 chickens (8 chickens in each treatment) were selected and slaughtered to obtain breast meat. The items used to analyze meat quality were pH, TBARS, and meat color. The weekly mortality rate was decreased by around 2 to 3 times in the T1 treatment group compared with the control group. The pH, TBARS, L*, and b* values of Korean native chicken breast were not affected by Ptecticus tenebrifer powder supplementation (p>0.05); however, a* values showed statistical significance (p<0.05). In conclusion, the addition of 1% Ptecticus tenebrifer powder reduced mortality rate and demonstrated its potential in livestock environmental management.
