  • The number of wind generation installations are growing substantially in Jeju, Korea. Many of these installations are significant in size and directly connected to the distribution system. Utility grid interconnection standards for interconnecting non-utility distributed generation systems are essential to both power system company and generation company. These interconnection standards are important to utilities, customers, wind generation manufactures and nation. In this paper, it is investigated the voltage quality and the suitability of Jeju-Hangwon wind power generation farm by network interconnection technology standard.

  • The amount of phenol and NaOH for the colorimetric determination of ammonia in Korean standard methods (KSM) is found to be highly excessive compared to the standard methods of several other countries. The absorbance of indophenol formed by the Berthelot reaction for ammonia analysis was measured under the various reaction conditions classified in experiment groups 1, 2, 3, 4 and KSM and American standards methods (ASM), and the relationships between the absorbance of indophenol and concentration of ammonia were compared. The amount of phenol can be reduced to 10 g (current 25 g in KSM) and NaOH can be reduced to 1.76 g (current 11 g in KSM) for the preparation of 200 mL phenate solution, and the absorbance sensitivity increased. The concentration of the phenol and NaOH correlatively affect the pH of the solution, which is a critical variable in achieving the maximum sensitivity and rapid and stable color development.

  • In this paper, a novel neural fuzzy control method is proposed to control nonlinear systems. A standard PD-like fuzzy controller is designed and used as a main controller for the system. Then a neural network controller is added to the reference trajectories to form a neural-fuzzy control structure and used to compensate for nonlinear effects. Two neural-fuzzy control schemes based on two well-known neural network control schemes, the feedback error learning scheme and the reference compensation technique scheme as well as the standard PD-like fuzzy control are studied. Those schemes are tested to control the angle and the position of the inverted pendulum and their performances are compared.

  • Recently, RFID technology has attracted considerable attention in many industry fields. The RFID environment requires a standard architecture for the smooth exchange of data between heterogeneous networks. The architecture should offer an efficient standard environment, such as a communication environment based on Web Services, PKI or Kerberos-based security, and abstract business processes which could be used in the diverse domains. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an Enterprise Application Framework (EAF) which includes a standard communication protocol, security functions, and abstract level business processes. The suggested architecture is expected to provide a more secure and flexible security management in the dynamic RFID application environments, and is expected to provide an abstract business event for the development of business processes which could apply RFID technology to the existing systems.

  • A study of preparing rubber soles and heels was made to improve the quality in their physical properties such as resistance of cut-growth, abrasion resistance and tensile strength. Following results were obtained in the characteristics of rubber compounding: 1. In the reinforcement effect of fillers, it was found that hydrous silcate and carbon black were the best, aluminum and calcium silicate were pretty good, and basic magnesium carbonate was moderate. 2. SBR/BR blend in the ratio of from 85/25 to 100/0 and NBR/BR blend in the ratio of from 60/40 to 20/80 were the most suitable compounding condition.

  • A low-power compact driver for multistandard physical layer is presented. The proposed driver achieves low power and small area through the voltage-mode driver with trans-impedance configuration and the novel hybrid driver,. In the voltage-mode driver, a trans-impedance configuration alleviates the problem of limited common-mode range of error amplifiers and the area and power overhead due to pre-amplifier. For a standard with extended output swing, only current sources are added in parallel with the voltage-mode driver, which is named a 'hybrid driver'. The hybrid architecture not only increases output swing but reduces overall driver area. The overall driver occupies $0.14mm^2$. Power consumptions under 3.3-V supply are 24.5 mW for the voltage-mode driver and 44.5 mW for the hybrid driver.

  • System voltages of Republic of Korea have been diversified since 1970s due to the accelerated industrialization of the republic. Although the national standards on system voltages (i. e Korean Industrial Standards KSC 0501) were established in 1974, the standards were not adequately maintained in time. Consequently, national standards on system voltages has some discrepancy not only with the existing voltages of electrical systems of this country but also with the IEC standard voltages in terms of scope and technical requirement of standards. This study is to seek harmonization of national standard voltages with the IEC standards considering existing system voltages, relevant technical regulations and codes etc.

  • UPnP Bridge supporting diverse network interface has to meet standard requirements in order to be connected with legacy devices. It is able to provide or bridge a service description and device description according to a specification because IEEE1394 and USB have this standard requirements. But it is difficult to know whether it RS232C supports only serial communication and packet transfer. It need a document for the standard definition of communication protocol on UPnP device having such interface. By doing so, this document can understand device and packet type. This paper defines MFD(Message Field Description) and makes UPnP message converter. So it will be base to standardize supporting variable legacy device.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to provide basic data for the improvement of the standards related to the performance improvement of the firefighting equipment standards for special ambulances. Methods: Among the domestic firefighting equipment standards, the special ambulance standard was compared with the NFPA 1917 standard for the United States automobile ambulance 2019 and European Union European standard EN 1789 medical vehicle and its equipment, a road ambulance. Results: Anti-skid performance based on indoor noise standards, performance standards for interior lights, seat belt warning device, child car seat fixing device, safety handle, auxiliary footrest, and flooring materials should be supplemented. Conclusion: It is necessary to strengthen the production and performance standards for improvement to a level corresponding to the national standards, such as the United States and European Union.

  • Background and Objectives: The United Kingdom (UK) national standard for the closure rate for myringoplasty is 89.5% (90.6% and 84.2% for primary and revision surgeries, respectively). The average hearing gains for primary and revision myringoplasty are 9.14 dB and 7.86 dB, respectively. This study compared the myringoplasty outcomes for a single surgeon over 5 years. Subjects and Methods: Data for 68 cases were analyzed retrospectively. The outcome measures were achievement of the tympanic membrane closure and the average hearing gain or loss. Results: The overall and primary closure rates were 97% and 98%, respectively and significantly higher than the UK national standard (p=0.0210 and p=0.0287, respectively). The revision closure rate was 93%; however, it was not significantly higher than the national standard (p=0.1872). The average hearing gain was 5.18 dB. The gains for primary and revision surgeries were 5.15 dB and 5.25 dB, respectively. Conclusions: We propose that these outcomes are a result of our surgical technique, including the simultaneous use of cortical mastoidectomy in ears with discharge.
