  • Recently, BIM(Building Information Modeling) has been applied to the infrastructure such as road and bridge, and information about the outside environment of buildings is needed for maintaining and managing the large urban facilities. In addition, the convergence between spatial information and Big-data has a large potentiality, in respect that considerable profits and developments in other application problems such as various simulations and urban plans, national land security, may be brought about on the basis of the interoperability of information between BIM and GIS. Therefore, this study attempted to suggest the development direction of a model integrating building for spatial information analysis and city on the subject by comparing and analyzing difference between information system and shape expression of IFC, CityGML and LandXML to efficiently link information between IFC as a standard model of BIM and CityGML as a standard model in the GIS sector and to prepare a basic fusion strategy and a method of utilization between BIM and GIS. The result of the study are as follow. Firstly, contents and structure of IFC, CityGML and LandXML are compared and analyzed. Secondly, the development direction of iBUM(Integrated Building and Urban Model) suggested, which is based on convergence technology for analysis of space information. Finally, a strategy and method of the BIM and GIS are proposed in the iBUM environment.

  • Urban green space is one of most important aspects of urban infrastructure for improving the quality of life of city dwellers as it reduces the heat island effect and is used for recreation and relaxation. However, no systematic management of urban green space has been introduced in Korea as past practices focused on efficient development. A way to calculate the amount of green space needed to complement an urban area must be developed to preserve urban green space and to determine 'regulations determining the total amount of greenery'. In recent years, various studies have quantified urban green space and infrastructure using remotely sensed data. However, it is difficult to detect a myriad small green spaces in a city effectively when considering the spatial resolution of the data used in existing research. In this paper, we quantified small urban green spaces using CASI-1500 hyperspectral imagery. We calculated MCARI, a vegetation index for hyperspectral imagery, to evaluate the greenness of small green spaces. In addition, we applied image-classification methods, including the ISODATA algorithm and Spectral Angle Mapper, to detect small green spaces using supervised and unsupervised classifications. This could be used to categorize land-cover into four classes: unclassified, impervious, suspected green, and vegetation green.

  • The environments in current farming and fishing communities have been exacerbated by the shortage of personnel caused by aging, the deficiency of equipment, and the decrease in produce prices. To help solve these issues, this study examined the history, such as inspections, failures, and repairs, by constructing a database for underground water wells, pumping stations, and irrigation, which are critical for management among agriculture production infrastructures. In particular, in the case of underground water wells, their optimal locations were determined using spatial information, such as a geological map of water resources, a water vein map, and underwater depth, because indiscreet installations and an absence of spatial information resulted in economic losses and environmental pollution. Therefore, this study could efficiently manage many facilities scattered in rural areas by developing a system. An analysis of the status of 14 underground water wells using spatial information showed that the location information at six points was specified incorrectly. On the other hand, a site investigation showed that the water vein map analysis at one point was inaccurate.

  • Even on the point that the 3rd National GIS project is being executed following the completion of the 1st and 2nd, the National GIS utilization is still very low. It is well reasonable to anticipate that the utilization will grow much higher, as the national spatial data infrastructure had been almost equipped through the 1st and 2nd project periods. Facing the ubiquitous era, in particular, as the national-level GIS demand is to increase to a great extent, pre-established GIS application scope will become much wider, too. In preparation for these, the current study focused on the National GIS utilization system by reviewing on the execution procedures to evaluate the outcomes. For the actual administration procedures, to note, the National GIS utilization statuses by local municipalities were investigated in depth. And the barriers for the National GIS utilization enhancement were analyzed to look for feasible solutions. The results suggested were aimed to contribute to the amendment of the 3rd Master Plan, and to be used as part of the basic data for the establishment of the 4th Master Plan for the National GIS.

  • As demands and applications of spatial information increase, different aspects of quality management have been raised as an important issue. This study suggests a quality management method for consumer-oriented spatial information, providing the consumer satisfaction. As opposed to the demands mentioned, less attention has been paid on the quality for the spatial information. So far, most of spatial information producers have kept their own independent quality management system and standard. Because of this unconscious response, it has been difficult to reflect the consumer's various and flexible demands from the silo structure of the quality management systems and regulations. The explosive increase of spatial information products creates quality-related problems such as limited time and budget for the consumer-oriented quality management. To solve these problems this study suggests to use a minimum number of the basic spatial information products which can guarantee better qualities when other products are combined. Because each of the spatial information product can include several other sub-products inside, it can have intrinsic characteristics such as geographic accuracy relationships between the products when combined and a hierarchical structure in each product in terms of the quality management mentioned. To prove the usability of the model, a case of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Center is used because the Center collects and distributes an enormous amount of spatial information to the public and private sector.

  • Land cover changes are occurring for a variety of reasons such as urbanization, infrastructure construction, desertification, drought, flood, and so on. Many researchers have studied the cause and effect of land cover changes, and also the methods for change detection. However, most of the detection methods are based on the dichotomy of "change" and "not change" according a threshold value. In this paper, we present a change detection method with the integration of probability, spatial autocorrelation, and hotspot detection. We used the AMOEBA (A Multidirectional Ecotope-Based Algorithm) and developed the AMOEBA-CH (core hotspot) because the original algorithm tends to produce too many clusters. Our method considers the probability of land cover changes and the spatial interactions between each pixel and its neighboring pixels using a local spatial autocorrelation measure. The core hotspots of land cover changes can be delineated by a contiguity-dominance model of our AMOEBA-CH method. We tested our algorithm in a simulation for land cover changes using NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) data in South Korea between 2000 and 2008.

  • The importance and utilization of underground spatial is increasing due to urban concentration. And so underground spatial information is being built. Because underground spatial information is an important NSDI (National Spatial Data Infrastructure), the accuracy and performance of underground spatial exploration devices used for construction are managed separately. In accordance with the laws and regulations related to spatial information, the government is conducting performance tests for underground facilities surveying equipment. The current performance test site mainly targets metal pipelines, and there is no absolute position surveying inspection system. In this study, test bed model for performance inspection of underground space exploration equipment was presented. The test bed presented in this study can be used as a test site to supplement the limitations of the existing domestic test bed and to verify the performance of the latest equipment.

  • Real estate development promotes the efficient management of the land and has immense impact on national economy. So, it is necessary to establish a comprehensive policy by accumulating related information. Real estate development map must have the information about a parcel and adjacent parcel to make it possible to analysis in spatial domain, because error will be manifested in analysis using only real estate attribute information. This can be allocate the attribute of public management information about real estate on cadastral information and spatial information for social infrastructure and buildings. Especially, it must maintain the latest information of changes in the shape and the attributes of the buildings. This study suggested a method for developing a real estate development map based on road name address map and a method to maintain the latest information through the connection with related systems.

  • Urban flood management(UFM) strategy ought to consider the connections and interactions between existing and new infrastructures to manage stormwater and improve the capacity to treat water. It is also important to demonstrate strategies that can be implemented to reduce the flow at flooding sources and minimize flood risk at critical locations. Although the general theory of spatial impact is popular, modeling guidelines that can provide information for implementation in real-world plans are still lacking. Under such background, this study conducted a modeling research based on an actual target site to confirm the hypothesis that it is appropriate to install green infrastructure(GI) in the source area and to take structural protection measures in the impact area, as summarized in previous studies. The results of the study proved the hypothesis, but the results were different from the hypothesis depending on which hydrological performance indicators were targeted. This study will contribute to demonstrating the effectiveness of strategies that can be implemented to reduce the flow at flooding sources and minimize the risk of flooding in critical locations in terms of spatial planning and regeneration.

  • Recently the integration and development of ST(Spatial Technology) and forest geographic information have been used very efficiently for the forest administration. However, even though many application system related to forest information have been developed and improved, there are still paper based inventories management and hand work for data construction and upgrade. In this study the forest information warehouse, which is mapped and managed at work-site operations, was constructed based GIS technology so that the standardization and consistency of current data could be acquired in real time. In addition, these thematic maps were conducted on high resolution satellite images and managed in web based forest information data warehouse form and finally shared through Internet for the very first-line administration officials. This study shows that the forest information standardization service of municipal governments very first time in the Korea and provides the unified decision making support and enterprise formed forest database so that is expected to be the very successful sample to suggest the prototype of national forest spatial data infrastructure.
