A New Algorithm for Resolving Narrowband Coherent Signals Incident on a General Array (임의 배열 안테나로 입사하는 협대역 코히어런트 신호의 분리를 위한 새로운 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a new algorithm, so called the Signal Decorrelation via Virtual Translation of Array (SDVTA) algorithm, for estimating the directions of arrival(DOA's) of narrowband coherent signals incident on a general array. An effective procedure is composed of transforming the steering matrix of the original array into that of the virtually translated sensor array and taking the average of the transformed covariance matrices in order to decorrelate the coherent signals. The advantage of this approach is in that 1) it can estimate the DOA's of m-1 coherent signals(M : the number of array sensors) since the effective aperture size is never reduced. 2) a geometry of array is unrestricted for solving the narrowband coherency problem. 3) the efficiency of signal decorrelation does not depend on the phase differences between coherent signals unlike the Coherent Signal Subspace Method (CSM). Simulation results are illustrated to demonstrate the superior performance of this new algorithm in comparison with the normal MUSIC and examine the comparative performance with the various choices of the optimal transformation matrix under coherent signal environments.

Stability Improvement of 60 GHz Narrowband Amplifier Using Microstrip Coupled Lines

  • We present an analysis of microstrip coupled lines (MCLs) used to improve the stability of a 60 GHz narrowband amplifier. The circuit has a 4-stage structure implementing MCLs instead of metal-insulator-metal (MIM) capacitors for the unconditional stability of the amplifier and yield enhancement. The stability parameter, U, is used to compare the stability of MCLs with that of MIM capacitors. Experimental results show that MCLs are more stable than MIM capacitors with the same capacitances as MCLs because the parasitic parallel resistances of MCLs are lower than those of MIM capacitors. Moreover, the bandwidth of an amplifier using MCLs is narrower than one using MIM capacitors because the parasitic series inductances of MCLs are higher than those of MIM capacitors.

Narrowband Signal Localization Based on Enhanced LAD Method

  • In this paper, an enhanced localization algorithm based on double thresholds (LAD) is proposed for localizing narrowband signals in the frequency domain. A simplified LAD method is first studied to reduce the computational complexity of the original LAD method without performance loss. The upper and lower thresholds of the simplified LAD method are directly calculated by running the forward consecutive mean excision algorithm only once. By combining the simplified LAD method and binary morphological operators, the enhanced LAD method is then proposed and its performance is simply discussed. The simulation results verify the correctness of discussion and show that the enhanced LAD method is superior to the LAD with adjacent cluster combining method, especially at low signal-to-noise ratio.

  • performance of the cellular CDMA overlay system is analyzed which shares the same band with existing microwave narrowband system to enhance the spectral efficiency. To suppress the interfreence from narrowband system, we used a linear predicition filter that adopts the adaptive least mean square algorithm. Alalyzing the performance in the Personal Communication Services channel, characterized as a multipath Rician fadng channels, we considered the power control to solve the near-far problem, and-off and multipath diversity. We also considered interleaving and channel coding to improve BER performance of the CDMA system.

  • According to revolutionary developments in automobile technologies, various electronically controlled components of vehicles are rapidly increasing. A variety of advanced vehicles (hybrid vehicle, hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, electric vehicle, etc.) using electrical energy source are increasing, too. The electromagnetic compatibility is getting more important for development of a vehicle because those advanced vehicles are equipped with more new electronic systems. In general, electromagnetic compatibility tests consist of an electromagnetic interference (EMI) test and an electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) test. In this paper, in order to investigate the electromagnetic interference in the cabin of vehicle by various electric and electronic components of vehicles, a series of narrowband electromagnetic emission tests are conducted. For comparison, the several digital home appliances (smartphone under charging, laptop compuer and digital camera), which are used a lot in daily lives, are tested.

  • A novel approach to general linearly constrained adaptive arrays is presented to improve the nulling performance in coherent and noncoherent environments. The narrowband and broadband linearly constrained adaptive arrays are implemented to examine the array performance. It is shown that the proposed approach performs better than the conventional adaptive arrays and the nulling performance depends on the gain factor for the desired response.

  • 본 논문은 덕트 내에 설치된 음향 스크린의 특성을 연구하였다. 다양한 형상의 음향 스크린의 투과 손실 측정을 통하여, 음향 스크린에 의해 생긴 두 개의 비대칭 경로가 특정 주파수에서 큰 협대역 소음 저감을 발생시킴을 알 수 있었다. 그리고, 실험과 수치적 모의 실험을 바탕으로 이러한 현상을 정확하게 설명할 수 있는 해석적 모델을 개발하였다.

  • In this study we consider three types of accomodation methods of narrowband/wideband services. The fully integrated accomodation method is sufficient to accomodate the relatively low wideband traffic and the partially integrated method is required to meet the specification of blocking probability as the wideband traffic increases. The segregated accomodation method is required expecilly in case of the high wideband traffic demand.

  • In this paper, a improved whitening filter for narrowband interference rejetion in PN spread spectrum communication systems is proposed. This whitening filter has the feedback from the output to the input of adaptive transversal filter and is superior to conventional LMS whitening filter in respect to SNR and power spectrum since the calculation of tap weight is based on maximum likelihood estimation

  • This paper presents narrowband voltage controller for large capacity UPS system with low switching frequency. The proposed controller is repetitive controller applicable to low sampling. The controller reduces the control error for nonlinear load and improve efficiency. The proposed controller is verified through the experiment using 40kW UPS inverter.
