A Study on Abstract Nail Design using Colors of Chun Kyung-ja's Works (천경자 작품의 색채를 활용한 추상적 네일 디자인 연구)

  • This paper tried to produce the abstract nail designs using the colors expressed in the works by the artist Chun Kyung-ja. The approach in this paper aimed to prepare the basis for realizing the creative idea on the nail design and to help to expand the expression field of nail design. The works expressing the artistic features of the artist Chun Kyung-ja well were selected for the empirical research and color data was analyzed using NCS(Natural Color System). Finally, 5 kinds of representative works on the works by the artist Chun Kyung-ja were selected and applied to nail designs for creating nail designs as well as application of colors. In conclusion, the nail design of this research is convergence of nail design and the modern Korean painting. Based on such convergence, this paper expressed the nail design by recreating the of beauty design by various viewpoints.

  • The purpose of this paper was to empirically verify the effect of nail list maturity on work performance and customer orientation, and analyzed 300 adult female nail beauty workers (nailists) working at nail salons across the country. As a result of investigating the research hypothesis, it was found that the maturity of the nail list had a significant effect on work performance, and the maturity of the nail list had a significant effect on customer orientation. Given the increasing number of novice nail artists, it is inferred that the maturity of a nail artist can directly manifest in procedural outcomes and revenue aspects. Consequently, strategies to enhance the maturity of nail artists are expected to profoundly influence customer orientation and job performance. There was a scarcity of prior research discussing maturity from the perspective of nail beauty or other beauty fields (skin, hair, etc.), which posed challenges in our discourse. We anticipate in-depmore th follow-up research in the future.

  • The aim of this study is to contribute to the idea of creative design by presenting nail art designs in which neo pop art converges with nail art techniques. For this purpose, this study analysed the artistic worlds of Jean Michel Basquiat and Takashi Murakami as representative artists of neo pop art and used examples of their art as motivation based on Internet data and relevant books. Also this study analysed the concept and expressive techniques used in nail art, and for the nail art techniques of: hand painting, see-through, etching, nail patches, 3D, and airbrushing in order to create six nail art designs using artistic works by three artists as motivation. Based on this, this study presented creative and unique nail designs with artistic works by neo pop artists as motivation. It is hoped that this study will contribute to further use of characteristic and diverse nail designs and is helpful in promoting the capability of nail artists and activate the nail art scene. It is expected that research on nail art design will be expanded and developed through convergence with diverse design areas in the future.

  • Soil nailing technique is being widely used for stabilization of vertical cuts because of its economic, environment friendly and speedy construction. Global stability and lateral displacement are the two important stability criteria for the soil nail walls. The primary objective of the present study is to evaluate soil nail wall stability criteria under the influence of in-situ soil variability. Finite element based numerical experiments are performed in accordance with the methodology of $2^3$ factorial design of experiments. Based on the analysis of the observations from numerical experiments, two regression models are developed, and used for reliability analyses of global stability and lateral displacement of the soil nail wall. A 10 m high prototype soil nail wall is considered for better understanding and to highlight the practical implications of the present study. Based on the study, lateral displacements beyond 0.10% of vertical wall height and variability of in-situ soil parameters are found to be critical from the stability criteria considerations of the soil nail wall.

Rational designing of double-sided nail plate joints using the finite element method

  • Double-sided punched metal plate timber fasteners present projections on both sides, which offer improved joint fire resistance and better joint aesthetics. In this paper, 3-D nonlinear finite element models were developed to simulate double-sided nail plate fastener timber joints. The models, incorporating orthotropic elasticity, Hill's yield criterion and elasto-plasticity and contact algorithms, are capable of simulating complex contact between the tooth and the timber and between the base plate and the timber in a fastener. Using validated models, parametric studies of the double-sided nail plate joints was undertaken to cover the tooth length and the tooth width. Optimal configuration was assumed to have been attained when increase in nail plate tooth width did not result in a raise in joint capacity, in conjunction with the optimum tooth length. This paper presents the first attempt to model and optimise tooth profile of double-sided nail plate fastener timber joints, which offers rational designs of such fasteners.

  • Onycholysis is defined as a distal or distal lateral separation of the nail plate from the underlying or lateral supporting structures including nail bed, hyponychium, and lateral nail fold. Trauma, infection, psoriasis, thyrotoxicosis, and numerous drugs are common causes of onycholysis. However, there are few specific data on nail findings in Behcet's disease (BD). In this paper, we report on a 60-year-old man with BD, with no past history except BD, who developed recurrent onycholysis. The symptoms of onycholysis are considered to be recurrent depending on the activity of BD. The nail lesion showed improvement after classic treatment of BD and topical steroid ointment.

  • In this paper, we proposed an optical encryption and decryption technique that uses a nail bed pattern as a key-code. Since the technique uses a nail bed pattern that is a biometric signal of an encryptor, the technique is robust about a fake key or illegal use of a key. In addition to this, the encrypted image contains the biometric information of the encryptor. This makes the proposed technique also be applied to authentication.

  • A new method of estimating axial nail force is proposed. An instrumented soil nail wall is selected to investigate the effectiveness of the new proposed method. The new method includes effect of creep and age of cement grout surrounding the steel bar, The new method also considers cracks in the grout generated during and after the end of the wall construction. It is found from this study that a reduced grout stiffness due to creep with age and crack of the grout must be considered for estimating correct axial nail forces. The reduced grout stiffness is considered also providing significant part of axial nail load compared to that of steel bar.

  • Soil nailing method is widely used in reinforcing slopes and excavating earth. The analysis of nail-reinforced slopes, in order to determine the economical length ratio and nail angle, complicated analytical need to be applied by means of computer programs. Therefor this suggested Soil stability Chart for nailed slopes which may be very useful for pre-design, rapidly design, and final check. Three slope types, three nail length and three nail angles are selected for the stability analysis by using limit equilibrium method of Bishop and French Method. From the above results, this study propose the slope reinforced design charts for dry season and rainy season. This proposed reinforced design charts can check dry season as well as rainy season, also these charts can provide reinforcing requirement, soil nail's economical length ratio and nail angle as well.

  • A Femur is the longest and largest bone which supports body in human musculoskeletal structure. Therefore, it may cause heavy loss of blood when it is suffered by a simple or complex fracture, and the complication is very dangerous with a possibility of severe tissue damage. In this study, the femoral cancellous angle change is estimated in order to design the Korean femoral IM nail. Generally, it is various in the size and curvature of femoral cancellous bone depending on patient's body dimension. Therefore surgeon has difficulty in fitting this femoral IM nail to the patient in the surgical procedure. In our study, we tries to estimate femoral lateral curve angle with more precise method based on CT image of the femur and utilize this information on the design of femoral IM nail for Korean patients.
