자동차 배출가스에 의한 도심 교차로의 대기오염 특징 (Characteristics of Air Pollution at a Junction Area Contaminated with Vehicle Emissions)

  • Roadside measurement of ultrafine particles, black carbon, and NOx was carried out to investigate air pollution at a junction area contaminated with vehicle emissions in Seoul from March 19 to 23, 2007. Diurnal variation of ultrafine particles, black carbon, and $NO_x$ concentrations at a roadside showed minimum at around 2-4 a.m. and two peak modes during the morning and evening rush hours. Since these pollutants might be mainly emitted from vehicles, the roadside was highly contaminated with vehicles.

  • 광화학스모그에 의한 오염이 심각하다고 알려진 서울의 경우 오존 1시간 환경기준 초과횟수는 '95년에 21회, '96년 174회, '98년 269회, 그리고 2000년에는 335회 등 매년 증가하고 있으며, 측정지점별 초과 횟수의 경우에도 완만한 증가추세를 보이고 있다. 2000년 말 현재 전국 53개 도시에 대기오염 자동측정 망이 약 152개소가 운영되고 있으나, 측정소의 절대적 개수를 계속하여 늘릴 수 없다는 한계와 시·공간적으로 변화하는 오존 전구물질(NOx, VOCs 등) 및 오존의 현황자료 부족으로 인하여 광화학 대기오염의 생성 규명을 파악하는데 어려움이 있다. 천연가스자동차 촉매의 온도분포 및 배기정화 특성 (Temperature and exhaust gas conversion efficiency of catalytic converters for natural gas vehicles)

  • Experiments were conducted to investigate the temperature profile and the emissions conversion efficiency of catalytic converters for natural gas vehicles. Two types of the catalyst structure and several transient engine operating conditions were used. The dual-bed catalyst effectively reduced the emissions in a transient period due to the low heat capacity of the front bed. The lanthanoid additives were effective in improving catalyst durability. When the natural gas fueled engine were operated outside of a very narrow window of excess air ratio (from 0.993 to 1.004), the HC and NOx conversion efficiency dropped off. The drop-off were especially fast on the lean side of the window.

  • An experimental study in the dual swirl burner was conducted to analyze the temperature characteristics in the combustion field. The dual swirl burner consists of a main swirling pre-mixed flame with tangential swirler surrounding a pilot which can stabilize a diffusion flame or a partially premixed flame with vane swirler depending on whether fuel is supplied at the exit plane or further upstream. The purpose of this study is to analyse experimentally the characterization of flame temperature in the reacting zone, specially, according to the various combustor diameters like 80mm, 100mm, 130mm and 150mm(O.D). As a result, the temperatures of combustion field were decreased as the diameter of combustor increased. Therefore, these results can be expected that the larger diameter of combustor tend to emit less NOx emission than the small combustor.

흡기관내 와류생성기가 압축착화엔진의 수분 농도 분포 및 연소성능 향상에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Vortex Generator in Intake Pipe on the Moisture Concentration Distributions and Combustion Performance in a CI Engine)

  • In this work, optimization of blade shape for the improvement of mixture formation and vortex of intake port was performed by numerically, and the combustion performance of CI engine with optimized blade shape was investigated. To achieve this, 3 types of blade shape were studied under the different air flow mass conditions and the numerical results were investigated in terms of humidification water, moisture concentration, and velocity distributions. Evaporated liquid mass was also compared under various test conditions to reveal the turbulent intensity in an intake port. It was observed that the optimized blade shape can improve the humidification water, moisture concentration, and velocity distributions of intake port inside. The evaporated liquid mass was also increased under the conditions with blade. Especially, low NOx emissions was observed with optimized blade condition.

안면도 기후변화감시소의 여름철 PM2.5 OC와 EC 분포 특성 및 배경대기 구분 (Distribution Characteristics and Background Air Classification of PM2.5 OC and EC in Summer Monsoon Season at the Anmyeondo Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) Regional Station)

  • Organic carbon (OC) and elemental carbon (EC) in PM2.5 were measured with Sunset Laboratory Model-5 Semi-Continuous OC/EC Field Analyzer by NIOSH/TOT method at Anmyeondo Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) Regional Station (37°32'N, 127°19'E) in July and August, 2017. The mean values of OC and EC were 3.7 ㎍ m-3 and 0.7 ㎍ m-3, respectively. During the study period, the concentrations of reactive gases and aerosol compositions were evidently lower than those of other seasons. It is mostly due to meteorological setting of the northeast Asia, where the influence of continental outflow is at its minimum during this season under southwesterly wind. While the diurnal variation of OC and EC were not clear, the concentrations of O3, CO, NOx, EC, and OC were evidently enhanced under easterly wind at night from 20:00 to 8:00. However, the high concentration of EC was observed concurrently with CO and NOx under northerly wind during 20:00~24:00. It indicates the influence of thermal power plant and industrial facilities, which was recognized as a major emission source during KORUS-AQ campaign. The diurnal variations of pollutants clearly showed the influence of land-sea breeze, in which OC showed good correlation between EC and O3 in seabreeze. It is estimated to be the recirculation of pollutants in land-sea breeze cycle. This study suggests that in general, Anmyeondo station serves well as a background monitoring station. However, the variation in meteorological condition is so dynamic that it is primary factor to determine the concentrations of secondary species as well as primary pollutants at Anmyeondo station.

냉각수 및 전기 가열 방식에 따른 요소수 해동 특성에 관한 수치해석 연구 (Numerical Investigation on the Urea Melting Characteristics with Coolant and Electric Heaters)

  • 환원제를 이용하여 배기가스 내의 NOx를 질소로 환원시키는 요소수 SCR 시스템은 다른 후처리 장치들 중에서 가장 효율적인 장치로 알려져 있다. 차량에 적용되는 SCR 장치는 32.5wt%의 공융혼합물을 이용한다. 이러한 혼합물의 가장 큰 장점 중의 하나는 $-11.7^{\circ}C$에서 얼기 때문에 추운 환경에서 응고를 피할 수 있다는 것이다. 한편, 이러한 추운 환경에서 시동시 필요한 수용액을 충분히 공급하기 위해서는 고체상을 가열해야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Fluent 상용코드를 이용하여 3차원 비정상 전산해석을 통한 냉각수 및 전기가열 방식에 따른 고체상 요소수의 시간에 따른 액상비 및 온도분포와 같은 해동 및 열전달 특성을 고찰하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 전기히터 가열 방식이 냉각수 방식보다 효율적임을 확인하였다.

2005년 6월의 서울시 대기의 포름알데히드 농도분포 특징 (Distributions of Formaldehyde in Seoul in June, 2005)

  • An automated carbonyl measurement system was constructed. Atmospheric carbonyl compounds were extracted onto DNPH containing collection solution while flowing through a glass coil. Each carbonyl species was separated on a HPLC column and quantified by UV absorption detector. Using this system, carbonyl compounds were continuously measured at the campus of Korea University in Seoul, Korea during June, 2005. Sampling resolution was 30 minutes and the detection limit of HCHO was 0.19 ppbv. Also, $\O_{3}$, it's precursors, and meteorological parameters were measured. The maximum, minimum, average, and median concentrations of HCHO during the whole experiment was 35.8 ppbv, 1.4 ppbv, 11.7 ppbv, and 9.3 ppbv respectively. Formaldehyde showed a distinct diurnal variation with a broad maximum around 13 $\sim$ 15, which was 1 $\sim$ 3 hours ahead of an ozone maximum. During a couple of days, however, HCHO concentrations were kept high through the night or increased concomitantly with NOx in the morning. These results imply that HCHO was mainly produced from the photochemical oxidation of VOCs, but local emission sources couldn't be ruled out. The differences between daily maximum and minimum of $O_{3}$ and HCHO were calculated for 11 days of June, when typical diurnal variations were observed for the two species. A strong positive correlation was found between $\Delta O_{3}$ and $\Delta HCHO$ and the average mole ratio of $\Delta HCHO$ to $\Delta O_{3}$ was 2.6. It indicates that formaldehyde played a key role in $\Delta O_{3}$ production as an indicator species in Metropolitan Seoul during June, 2005.

디젤 엔진에서 GTL(Gas to Liquid) 연료의 배출물 특성에 관한 연구 (Emission Characteristics of GTL(Gas to Liquid) Fuel in Diesel Engine)

  • Due to increasing need for better emission characteristics and lower fuel consumption rate in automotive engines, alternative fuels are drawing more attentions recently. The GTL (gas to liquid) is the one of most favored candidates. In this study, emission characteristics are compared between diesel and GTL fuel in commercial 2.0 liter diesel engine and vehicle with CRDi(Common Rail Direct injection) system. The effects of injection timings on emission and fuel consumption rate are compared at various engine speeds and loads. Noticeable reduction in HC, CO and PM emissions are observed due to higher cetane number and low sulfur and aromatic contents in GTL. On the trade-off curve of NOx and PM(Particulate matter) GTL showed much more benefits than diesel, where about 30% of PM mass decreased at the same operating conditions. On CVS 75 mode test in vehicle, GTL showed an excellent emission enhancement, in which 50% of HC, 21% of PM, and 12% of NOx engine-out emissions are decreased compared to ULSD(Ultra low sulfur diesel) fuel.

주연소 영역 공기배분 및 희석공기공 배치에 따른 연소 성능 변화 연구 (Experimental Study on Combustion Performances with Variations in Main Air-ratio and Dilution hole-pattern)

  • 본 논문에서는 항공 가스 터빈용 연소기 개발을 위한 단일 연소기 섹터 시험 결과에 대한 논의하였다. 연소기로 공급되는 전체 공기 중 주 연소 영역으로 공급되는 공기비율을 변화 시키면서 배출물 농도, 라이너 표면 온도 분포 및 연소기 출구 온도 패턴 등의 연소 성능 변화를 연구하였다. 주 연소 공기량이 증가함에 따라 CO와 NOx 배출 농도가 증가하는 경향이 있었으며, 연소기 출구 패턴은 개선되는 것으로 나타났다. 희석 공기공을 회전시켜 배치하는 경우 연소기 출구 온도 패턴의 변화가 민감하게 변하는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 연구 결과는 연소기의 효율, 내구성 및 배출물 감소 성능을 고려한 연소기 라이너 설계 최적화 과정의 기초 자료로 활용할 예정이다.
