  • We introduce the notion of Gauss map of pointwise 1-type on ruled surfaces in the Euclidean 3-space for which vector valued functions is neither trivial nor it extends or coincides with the usual notion of 1-type, in general. We characterize the minimal helicoid in terms of it and give a complete classification of the ruled surfaces with pointwise 1-type Gauss map.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study is to evaluate the analgesic effect of electroacupuncture on Jogsamni (ST36) in the collagen-induced arthritis rats and investigate the role played by opioid receptor subtypes $({\mu},\;{\delta},\;{\kappa})$ in the antinociceptive effect of electroacupuncture (EA) In the thermal hyper algesia test. Methods : Immunization of male Sprague-Dawley rats with bovine type H collagen emulsified in incomplete Freund's adjuvant, followed by booster injection 2 weeks later induced collagen-induced arthritis (CIA). The thermal hyperalgesia was evaluated weekly with tail flick latency (TFL). In the fourth week after first immunization, EA stimulation (2 Hz, 0.07 mA, 0.3 ms) was delivered into Jogsamni (5736) for 20 minutes. Analgesic effect was evaluated by using the tail flick latency (TFL) after intraperitoneal injection of normal saline, naloxone, naltrindole and nor-binaltorphimine respectively to CIA rats. Results : The results were as follows; 1. The TFL were gradually decreased in CIA as time elapsed after e immunization of arthrogenic collagen and the maximum value was reached between the third to fifth week. 2. EA stimulation on 5736 inhibited chronic inflammatory pain induced by CIA. 3. The analgesic effect of EA was inhibited by pretreatment of ${\mu}-receptor$ antagonist (naloxone),${\delta}-receptor$ antagonist (naltrindole) and ${\kappa}-receptor$ antagonist (nor-binaltorphimine) respectively. Conclusion : Electroacupuncture has an analgesic effect on the CIA rat and has an antinociception mediated by 8, 5, H receptors.

  • Background: We investigated the effects of pre-emptive administration of ketamine and norBNI on pain behavior and the expression of DREAM, c-Fos, and prodynorphin proteins on the ipsilateral side of the rat spinal cord at 2 and 4 hours after formalin injection. Methods: Eighty-four male Sprague Dawley rats were divided into 4 major groups consisting of control rats (C) (n = 12), rats given only formalin injections (F) (n = 24), and rats treated with pre-emptive administration of either ketamine (K+F) (n = 24) or norBNI (N+F) (n = 24). The non-control groups were further divided into subgroups consisting of rats that were sacrificed at 2 and 4 hours (n = 12 for each group) after formalin injection. Pain behavior was recorded for 1 hour. After 2 and 4 hours, the rats were sacrificed and the spinal cords (L4-L5 sections) were removed for immunohistochemistry and Western blot analysis. Results: The pain behavior response was reduced in the K+F group compared to the other groups during the second phase of the formalin pain response. We detected an increase in the nuclear DREAM protein level in the K+F group at 2 and 4 hours and a transient decrease in the N+F group at 2 hours; however, it increased at 4 hours after injection. Fos-like immunoreactivity (FLI) and Prodynorphin-like immunoreactivity (PLI) neurons decreased in the K+F group but increased in the N+F group at 2 hours after injection. While FLI decreased, PLI increased in all groups at 4 hours after injection. Conclusions: We suggest that NMDA and kappa opioid receptors can modulate DREAM protein expression, which can affect pain behavior and protein transcriptional processes at 2 hours and bring about either harmful or protective effects at 4 hours after formalin injection.

  • In this paper, we implemented a high-speed signal processing hardware system for Color Line Scan Camera using FPGA and Nor-Flash. The existing hardware system mainly processed by high-speed DSP based on software and it was a method of detecting defects mainly by RGB individual logic, however we suggested defect detection hardware using RGB-HSL hardware converter, FIFO, HSL Full-Color Defect Decoder and Image Frame Buffer. The defect detection hardware is composed of hardware look-up table in converting RGB to HSL and 4K HSL Full-Color Defect Decoder with high resolution. In addition, we included an image frame for comprehensive image processing based on two dimensional image by line data accumulation instead of local image processing based on line data. As a result, we can apply the implemented system to the grain sorting machine for the sorting of peanuts effectively.

  • 11-nor-9-carboxy-${\Delta}^9$-tetrahydrocannabinol (THCCOOH) is the major metabolite of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which is the primary psychoactive component of marijuana. It is also the target analyte for the discrimination marijuana use. A method using solid-phase extraction (SPE) and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) was developed for the determination of THCCOOH in human urine. Urine samples (3 mL) were extracted by SPE column with a cation exchange cartridge after basic hydrolysis. The eluents were then evaporated, derivatized, and injected into the GC/MS. The limits of detection (LOD) and quantitation (LOQ) were 0.4 and 1.2 ng/mL, respectively. The response was linear with a correlation coefficient of 0.999 within the concentration range of 1.2 (LLE 1.3)~50.0 ng/mL. The precision and accuracy were stable within 1.20% and the recovery was 83.6~90.7%. The recovery of SPE method was lower than that of liquid-liquid extraction (LLE), but there were no apparent differences in LOD, LOQ, precision and accuracy between the two methods. While SPE method is used as a very effective and rapid procedure for sample pretreatment, and clean extracts, LLE method was not suitable for the extraction procedure of THCCOOH in urine. The applicability of the method was proven by analyzing a urine samples from a marijuana abusers.

  • Purpose : The subcellular localization of E1B-19k has been known cytosol or nuclear membrane by immunohistochemical staining and could dimerize with Bax to regulate cell death also known by the in-vitro immunoprecipitation. We planed to confirm this dimerization of E1B-19k with Bax in vivo in Cos-7 cells by using green fluorescent protein. Material and Method : We cloned E1B-19k and Bax into C3-EGFP. C3-EGFP-E1B-19k, C3-EGFP-Bax, and C3-EGFP-E1B-19k and pcDNA3-Bax were transfected into Cos-7 cells. We explored location of E1B-19k and Bax, and confirmed its dimerization with Bax in transfected living healthy Cos-7 cells by following green fluorescent protein of E1B-19k on the confocal microscope. Results : E1B-19k was located diffusely in cytoplasm and in nucleus but not in mitochondria. It prevented cell death from the apoptosis by staurosporine but its location was not changed. GFP-E1B-19k is not changed its intracellular location with Bax even with staurosporine. Conclusion : These results support that E1B-19k does not localize in mitochondria nor dimerize with Bax even with staurosporine. We could anticipate E1B-19k prevent cell death via the other dimerizing partner or pathways.

  • Although bleeding was reported before as the first symptom in a few cases of biliary atresia, this association is not generally known. We treated 115-day-old female with extrahepatic biliary atresia presented with subdural hemorrhage rather than with prolonged jaundice. Four years after craniectomy and Kasai's hepatic portojejunostomy, she looks happy without jaundice nor brain damage sequela even though she had recent episode of esophageal variceal bleeding.

  • There are two problems in the conventional ART1 algorithm. One is in similarity testing method of the conventional ART1 between input patterns and stored patterns. The other is that vigilance threshold of conventional ART1 influences the number of clusters and the rate of recognition. In this paper, new similarity testing method and dynamical vigilance threshold method are proposed to solve these problems. The former is similarity test method using the rate of norm of exclusive-NOR between input patterns and stored patterns and the rate of nodes have equivalence value, and the latter method dynamically controls vigilance threshold to similarity using fuzzy operations and the sum operation of Yager. To check the performance of new methods, we used 26 alphabet characters and nosed characters. In experiment results, the proposed methods are better than the conventional methods in ART1, because the proposed methods are less sensitive than the conventional methods for initial vigilance and the recognition rate of the proposed methods is higher than that of the conventional methods.

  • Purpose: This study was a systematic review and meta-analysis designed to evaluate the effects of breastfeeding intervention on breastfeeding rates. Methods: Based on the guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA), a systematic search was conducted using eight core electronic databases and other sources including gray literature from January 9 to 19, 2017. Two reviewers independently select the studies and assessed methodological risk of bias of studies using the Cochrane criteria. The topics of breastfeeding interventions were analyzed using descriptive analysis and the effects of intervention were meta-analyzed using the Review Manager 5.2 software. Results: A total of 16 studies were included in the review and 15 were included for meta-analysis. The most frequently used intervention topics were the importance of good latch-on and frequency of feeding and determining adequate intake followed. The pooled total effect of breastfeeding intervention was 1.08 (95% CI 1.03~1.13). In the subgroup analysis, neither pre-nor post-childbirth intervention was effective on the breastfeeding rates at 1, 3, and 6 months, and neither group nor individual interventions had an effect. Only the 1 month breastfeeding rate was found to be affected by the individual intervention with the persistent strategies 1.21 (95% CI 1.04~1.40). Conclusion: Effective breastfeeding interventions are needed to help the mother to start breastfeeding after childbirth and continue for at least six months. It should be programmed such that individuals can acquire information and specific breastfeeding skills. After returning home, there should be continuous support strategies for breastfeeding as well as managing various difficulties related to childcare.
