과학기술정보 장서개발정책에 관한 동향연구 (A Trend Study on Collection Development Policy for Science and Technology Information Resources)

  • 세계의 대표적인 국가 과학기술정보기관들은 국가 경쟁력을 증진하기 위하여 연구자들에게 연구개발정보를 제공하고 있다. 장서개발정책은 과학기술정보기관이 연구개발을 위한 정보자원을 선별하고 정보자원을 상호 연계하여 정보네트워크를 구축하기 위한 가이드라인이다. 본 논문은 국가 과학기술정보기관의 장서개발정책의 주요 요소를 도출하기 위해서 미국의 국가의학도서관 (NLM), 영국국립도서관 (BL), 캐나다과학기술정보연구원 (CISTI), 한국과학기술정보연구원 (KISTI)의 장서개발정책을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 과학기술정보기관들이 장서개발정책 수립시 가이드라인으로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

Gram-Schmidt 직교화를 이용한 affine projection 알고리즘의 근사적 구현 (An approximated implementation of affine projection algorithm using Gram-Scheme orthogonalization)

  • Affine projection 알고리즘은 RLS보다 적은 계산량으로 LMS보다 우수한 수렴성능을 나타낸다. 그러나 affine projection 알고리즘은 역행렬 연산을 필요로 하기 때문에 여전히 LMS에 비해 과중한 계산을 필요로 한다. 본 논문에서는 affine projection 알고리즘을 분석하여 이 알고리즘이 Gram-Scheme 구조로 해석될 수 있음을 보이고 이를 이용하여 NLMS와 비슷한 계산량으로 affine projection 알고리즘을 근사적으로 구현할 수 있는 새로운 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안한 방법은 NLMS와 비슷한 계산량을 가지면서 기존의 affine projection 알고리즘과 비슷한 수렴성능을 나타내었다.

Scheme for Reducing Harmonics in Output Voltage of Modular Multilevel Converters with Offset Voltage Injection

  • This paper proposes a new THD reduction algorithm for modular multilevel converters (MMCs) with offset voltage injection operated in nearest level modulation (NLM). High voltage direct current (HVDC) is actively introduced to the grid connection of offshore wind powers, and this paper deals with a voltage generation technique with an MMC for wind power generation. In the proposed method, third harmonic voltage is added for reducing the THD. The third harmonic voltage is adjusted so that each of the pole voltage magnitudes maintains a constant value with a maximum number of (N+1) levels, where N is the number of sub-modules per arm. By using the proposed method, the THD of the output voltage is mitigated without increasing the switching frequency. In addition, the proposed method has advantageous characteristics such as simple implementation. As a part of this study, this paper compares the THD results of the conventional method and the proposed method with offset voltage injection to reduce the THD. In this paper, simulations have been carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, and the proposed method is implemented by a HILS (Hardware in the Loop Simulation) system. The obtained results show agreement with the simulation results. It is confirmed that the new scheme achieved the maximum level output voltage and improved the THD quality.

Feasibility of Three-Dimensional Balanced Steady-State Free Precession Cine Magnetic Resonance Imaging Combined with an Image Denoising Technique to Evaluate Cardiac Function in Children with Repaired Tetralogy of Fallot

  • Objective: To investigate the feasibility of cine three-dimensional (3D) balanced steady-state free precession (b-SSFP) imaging combined with a non-local means (NLM) algorithm for image denoising in evaluating cardiac function in children with repaired tetralogy of Fallot (rTOF). Materials and Methods: Thirty-five patients with rTOF (mean age, 12 years; range, 7-18 years) were enrolled to undergo cardiac cine image acquisition, including two-dimensional (2D) b-SSFP, 3D b-SSFP, and 3D b-SSFP combined with NLM. End-diastolic volume (EDV), end-systolic volume (ESV), stroke volume (SV), and ejection fraction (EF) of the two ventricles were measured and indexed by body surface index. Acquisition time and image quality were recorded and compared among the three imaging sequences. Results: 3D b-SSFP with denoising vs. 2D b-SSFP had high correlation coefficients for EDV, ESV, SV, and EF of the left (0.959-0.991; p < 0.001) as well as right (0.755-0.965; p < 0.001) ventricular metrics. The image acquisition time ± standard deviation (SD) was 25.1 ± 2.4 seconds for 3D b-SSFP compared with 277.6 ± 0.7 seconds for 2D b-SSFP, indicating a significantly shorter time with the 3D than the 2D sequence (p < 0.001). Image quality score was better with 3D b-SSFP combined with denoising than with 3D b-SSFP (mean ± SD, 3.8 ± 0.6 vs. 3.5 ± 0.6; p = 0.005). Signal-to-noise ratios for blood and myocardium as well as contrast between blood and myocardium were higher for 3D b-SSFP combined with denoising than for 3D b-SSFP (p < 0.05 for all but septal myocardium). Conclusion: The 3D b-SSFP sequence can significantly reduce acquisition time compared to the 2D b-SSFP sequence for cine imaging in the evaluation of ventricular function in children with rTOF, and its quality can be further improved by combining it with an NLM denoising method.

  • In this study, we compare two image denoising methods which are the Rudin-Osher-Fatemi total variation (TV) model and the nonlocal means (NLM) algorithm on medical images. To evaluate those methods, we used two well known measuring metrics. The methods are tested with a CT image, one X-Ray image, and three MRI images. Experimental result shows that the NML algorithm can give better results than the ROF TV model, but computational complexity is high.

  • 컴퓨터나 정밀기기기의 빈번한 운용으로 배전선 반송통신 시스템의 신뢰도는 그 어느 때보다 크게 요구된다. 배전선에 나타나는 여러 종류의 잡음은 반송통신 정보를 쉽게 오염시켜 전체 시스템에 큰 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 논문에서는 평활 잡음과 60[Hz] 전원 주파수에 동기된 고조파 잡음제거를 위해 LMS와 NLMS알고리즘을 이용한 적응필터를 사용하였고 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 수행해 본 결과 신호 대 잡음비의 관점에서 LMS보다 NLMS의 탁월한 효과를 확인하였다.

Resources for assigning MeSH IDs to Japanese medical terms

  • Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), a medical thesaurus created by the National Library of Medicine (NLM), is a useful resource for natural language processing (NLP). In this article, the current status of the Japanese version of Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) is reviewed. Online investigation found that Japanese-English dictionaries, which assign MeSH information to applicable terms, but use them for NLP, were found to be difficult to access, due to license restrictions. Here, we investigate an open-source Japanese-English glossary as an alternative method for assigning MeSH IDs to Japanese terms, to obtain preliminary data for NLP proof-of-concept.

Expression of VEGF-C/VEGFR-3 in Human Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinomas and its Significance for Lymphatic Metastasis

  • Objectives: Expression of vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGF-C)and vascular endothelial growth factor feceptor-3 (VEGFR-3) in laryngeal squamous carcinoma and its relationship to lymph node metastasis were investigated. Methods: VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 gene expression in 30 cases of normal laryngeal mucosa tissue (NLM), primary laryngeal carcinoma cell carcinomas (PLC) and cervical lymph nodes (CLN) was examined by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Protein levels of VEGF-C expression were determined by immunohistochemical staining in 60 cases of PLC. Results: Expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 different among NLM, PLC and CLN in the same patient. In PLC, expression was significantly higher in lymph node positive group than in the lymph node negative group and associated with histological grade of differentiation; Expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 was not linked with age, sex, site or T stage. Conclusions: A close correlation was found between VEGF-C/VEGFR-3 expression and lymph node metastasis in PLC, suggesting a role in metastasis of laryngeal carcinomas.

동영상을 위한 움직임 보상 기반 Non-Local Means 필터를 이용한 우적 검출 및 제거 알고리즘 (Rain Detection and Removal Algorithm using Motion-Compensated Non-local Means Filter for Video Sequences)

  • 본 논문에서는 카메라 움직임에 강인한 동영상 내 비 검출 및 제거 기법을 제안한다. 검출 파트는 비의 밝기 특성과 공간적 특성을 활용하여 초기 비 영역을 검출한다. 그런 다음 가우시안 분포 모델을 적용하여 최종적인 비 영역을 결정한다. 제거 단계에서는 인접한 영상 간 상관성을 이용하여 비 영역을 중심으로 인접 프레임 간 블록 정합 기법을 수행한다. 그 후 정합 결과에 기반한 non-local mean (NLM) 필터링을 통해 비 영역을 보상한다. 마지막으로 깜박임 효과를 제거하고 가시성을 향상시키기 위해 후처리를 수행한다. 실험 결과를 통해 제안 기법의 화질이 기존 기법에 비해 동영상의 비 제거 성능에 있어 현저하게 우수함을 볼 수 있다.
